Covid- Have you had your 2nd booster?
So, I'm eligible for the 2nd booster (over 50), but I've been holding off under the logic that it's warmer now, not a lot of indoor contact with others, and I'd rather not feel awful for another day without good reason (shot 2 and booster were pretty sucky). What have you done? Poll will be private.

I put holding off as well, though if I get it or not will depend on severity of any fall/late summer outbreak.
I am 59, but in great physical shape, which I know is not a guarantee of anything, but I feel "protected" at this point as I have been exposed multiple times, but not contracted it, which I hope is a continuing motif. |

Got the second booster because I'm taking immunocompromising medicines.

That absolutely sounds like the right thing to do in your case, Foz.

Haven't gotten it yet. I had no issues whatsoever with the first 3 shots and have considered getting it before heading to Hawaii in a month.

I'd take a booster every quarter if I could.

Wife has mild-ish Covid now despite one booster. I’d get the booster if I could.

I had an appointment to get it last month, and after waiting or 30 minutes they told me I had to wait because it was too soon after the last one. So, I will, but it will probably be next month.

I got my fourth, but it was more to be able to travel a couple weeks ago than anything else (my first two were clinical trials that no country recognizes). Probably would be getting it in the next couple of weeks otherwise.

I am not adverse to a 4th but will likely hold off until later in the year or if I am required to for some reason.

Not eligible - I am under 40, have a healthy weight, and have no pre existing conditions.
I will though once I am eligible. Last edited by Racer : 05-17-2022 at 08:30 PM. |

The second booster is only available in Australia to people over the age of age of 60 in high risk categories.
FYI the highest number of cases ever in Australia occurred in the middle of our summer (January) - when restrictions were relaxed. We have continued to have relatively high numbers since. I don't think this virus is seasonal. |

I'm not eligible. I also want to see about the timeline for the Omicron specific shots. If they are on the horizon, I can see waiting to boost until that one is available.

I will whenever they say I can get it (not yet 50). Actually I should check the rules for Maryland. At the very worst I would think I would get it in the fall when I go for the regular flu shot.

I'm in the same boat as 21C in .au - I've had my two initial shots, one booster, and one actual case of COVID. TBH, unless/until there's another variant with an elevated risk level I'd be reluctant to take a booster even if eligible at this stage with how rampant the virus is in Australia, I figure I'm bound to keep catching it at least annually which to my non-scientist brain seems to me about the same as getting a booster anyway minus the dead-arm feeling the next day.

Took my 3rd one last week only due to bureaucracy as it's enforced to travel to France (going to Disney with kids).
I had the second one in July and the vaccine passport in Europe is only valid for 9 months. I didn't take the 3rd one before as I had covid in Christmas so theoretically it was not needed, but as I tested positive at home (like everybody who had Omicron in Dec/Jan, nobody was tested at hospitals unless you were really sick) and not at the hospital, there is no official record that i had it. I felt like shit for 48 hours with 38C fever, exactly like when I had the covid in December, so it feels so stupid to feel two days sick now to avoid being sick for 2 days with the real covid in the future... In the two first doses I just had pain in my shoulder, I guess this one was worse as my body has plenty of antibodies and reacted violently vs the vaccine. I was totally pro vaccine and I still am, but not to take one every 6-9 months, specially when it's the same old one and not a new one for the new variants. I wouldn't have taken this 3rd just 5 months after suffering real covid if it was not mandatory to travel, that also find stupid as having the 3rd dose doesn't prevent you to get covid or to transmit it, it's just to not to suffer a bad one but regarding traveling abroad and the danger of spreading it to the other country is the same with 2 than with 3 doses.

Got mine within a week of being notified I could. I'll get the next one as soon as I'm notified I can. I've not had any adverse reactions to any of my shots using Phizer.
I did finally have my first bout with Covid last week. First day was similar to a very light flu. Body aches and headache with no nausea. Second day on, like a mild cold. |

I asked to get the shingles vaccine at age 46, but was denied because I wasn’t 50. Like I couldn’t even just pay full price for it. I had it at some point during the pandemic and it was a mild case and it still sucked. Felt like someone hit the area in question with a cheese grater.
I’d suggest getting it whenever you’re eligible but obv ask your doctor first. |
