If they're following the story many think they are, then yes, it's going to be an older Batman. I think there are much better choices to play an older batman, but I agree with SI. This movie has disaster written all over it, but I don't think it's going to be because of Affleck.

The thing with Affleck is not that he'll be terrible. I'm sure he'll be adequate. It's more that he's a safe, boring choice that is going to do nothing to elevate it beyond Zack Snyder's nonsense. If it was Affleck/Affleck, I could be okay with that, but Snyder/Affleck is just awful.

He was retired at the beginning of The Dark Knight Rises, too, so I'm not sure that really means anything.

I don't think they're following that storyline exactly. But it sounded from the press that they're going wtih the idea of Batman as an established veteran crimefighter, so an older actor makes sense.

Which I am very much fine with if it means they're not going to give me another Batman origin as part of the movie. If they actually assume everyone knows who Batman is and just introduce a new version of him I will give Hollywood a slow clap. In this sense introducing him as part of a Superman movie may be a great idea because they focus won't be on "introducing" him.

I haven't seen much of anything with Affleck in it for years so i don't know if he can pull this off. I still think of him in Good Will Hunting in that suit saying "You're all suspect," which makes me think he can't. But I'm sure he's past that. I think he could make a great Bruce Wayne, he's charming and now a bit dignified, an older playboy is something he should be able to do. It's the Batman part I wonder about.

I'd watch it with Damon. Otherwise no. Is Affleck just dying to resurrect the caricature of himself he was able to shed?

Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to play the goddamn Batman.

It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until it plays The Batman!

He knows this is probably his one shot to get to punch Henry Cavill in the mouth.

It has been announced that Jeremy Irons will be playing the role of Alfred Pennyworth and Jesse Eisenberg will be Lex Luthor.

What a massive difference from Bryan Cranston being rumored for Luthor.

This film continues to have less and less appeal for me.

Wasn't that the kid from The Social Network? Is this supposed to be a younger Luthor?

EDIT: And, if so, why not use Michael Rosenbaum?

Can't say I'm liking the casting for a lot of the roles in this movie. Was disappointed in the Wonder Woman casting decision as well, but hopefully this'll be end up being a case of the movie wildly exceeding expectations.

Yup, same guy. And if they're going for someone the same age as Superman then Rosenbaum is at least a decade too old. Eisenbergs over 30, Rosenbaum is over 40.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking back to the first season or two of Smallville, which is the part of the series I've ever seen a few episodes from.

How many times has the person playing the part on TV been the one to play the role in the movie? I don't get Jesse Eisenberg as Lex though. Even with a saved head.

The whole show is amazing. I don't even like Superman that much, and it was amazing.

Yep. Eisenberg is the same age as Cavil (the dude who's playing Superman).

I think Cranston would have been a mistake - people would be expecting him to play Luthor as Walter White.

Another thought... What if all this questionable casting is the world's greatest smoke screen? They keep everything under wraps until the movie premiers, and then the first people get a completely kick ass movie with superb cast that you immediately find all previous casting for these characters to be amateur.

The thesis of plot twist

I don't think this was originally written in English, hencecwhy the grammar is so bad. Fan theories are pretty fun.

Basically to tlr it

Affleck is an alternate "non Bruce Wayne Batman"
Jared Leto is the recast version of JGL's "Robin" from Batman 3

Is that Lex Luthor or the love child of the Riddler and Joker?

Looked like a standard fair below average movie with very below average acting to me.

That's...that's basically a cliff's notes version of the plot right there. Amazing contrast in approach with the trailers for The Force Awakens, where we still know relatively little about the story.

Wonder Woman would've been a marvelous surprise for audiences, had they kept that quiet.

I don't necessarily understand the folks who say they were underwhelmed by the trailer. I thought it was amazing and makes me want to go see it so much more now! Though I will agree that it totally gave away the story.
