If You Like Lots of Groupie Sex AND Multiplayer Fake Football Simulation Leagues
...then welcome to nirvana.
Now in its SIXTEENTH (yes, you are not hallucinating) season, the Front Office Football League has an ownership opening effective immediately. The new owner would take control of a well-run stable franchise (just one owner over the team's long history.) The season has just begun, so you'll have the opportunity to play a full menu of games against fake football luminaries such as QuikSand (oh that's right...HE'S IN YOUR DIVISION!) We are looking for active, experienced owners that will pay attention to their team and don't mind a briskly paced schedule (three games per week - MWF). Established FOFC members are given extra consideration. Advantages of FOFL - great owners, including well-known FOF strategists QuikSand, Daimyo, Fritz, cuervo72, SkyDog, Fonzie, MalcPow, RedKingGold and many others. - long-term league moving into its 16th season (sure I already mentioned this, but good lord...SIXTEENS!.) - briskly paced schedule that sims three games per week and moves through the offseason without any downtime or weekend commitments (75 real time days to run a full season...it's like single player without the whimpering AI.) - great web site designed by 34 productions and supported by a top notch forum and daychat lounge. - cutting edge database-driven pages for players, teams and staff written by database programming wiz cuervo72. - a host of draft tools, including combine reports, historical draft data and a customized on-line draft tool (licensed from VPI Industries). - all of the gameday Stelmack-generated reports you can put your mouth on, plus a specialized transactions report written by shadowy programming guru Dick Dixon (aka radii). Sounds pretty great, huh? Plus it is scientifically proven that we get more groupie sex than any other fake football league in existence. Interested? Please send a PM to Subby via the FOFL or FOFC boards. There is no application process required.

I'd apply but there's no compulsion for me to give Quik, SD, and RKG yet another opportunity to beat me senseless.

"Oh Hell Naw!"
No, it isn't the newest card game from solecismic - it's the reaction I had when we got a bunch of respones to this ad. The opening is filled...thanks to everyone who inquired.

BTW, the best advice I can give to any FOF MP player is to allow the developer to draft all of your players, then retain them for as long as the cap allows.
Heck it worked for me! (OK, so it really didn't because I had a nerf gameplan the first MP season, and forgot to submit a file for the playoffs in the most recent season letting my backups get waxed in a playoff game). But, don't let the hatas fool you. I'm legitimate. Last edited by RedKingGold : 02-26-2008 at 09:18 PM. Reason: Because HA told me to choose my words carefully |

Damn, all day yesterday, I couldn't log on.. Then I see this thread today, and scan down it to see if the spot has been filled, but missed Subbys post and went ahead firing off a PM. I was surprised no one had filled the spot yet, or at least I had thought..
Then I came back and saw the post. But I promise I would pay much more attention to a team than I did this thread. If there was a waiting list somewhere, I also would be on it.

Thanks - I am kind of amazed it (or any fake sports league) can last so long. You need a lot of bored married worker bees to make that happen

I hear ya. We found 119 of them for Gridiron Glory, which still amazes me to this day.
I think we're heading to the level that you guys are at. But you guys definitely set the bar. I've always been a big fan of your league. |

I'd love to get in, but I'm already spread thin between the GEFL and IHOF. Plus, you don't need me to tank the best team in the league
Good luck finding an owner.

to be honest, with as restrictive and non-customizable as FOF is i'm surprised some of these leagues last as long as they do. there's a real rinse and repeat feel to the game after a while. with no way to create a major change at any point of the game's cycle then you're stuck playing the same thing for decaded upon decades. i can see why OOTP leagues can last so long - you can easily make rule changes any time you want. not able to do that with FOF. this really is a SP game that has an MP mode hastily thrown in.

I've joked about this with FOFL and IHOF every time one loses an owner - MERGER!! The problem is there seems to be a shrinking number of MP owners, and they are all in the same leagues. So you have 5-10 different flavors of the same thing. Really, why would I want to join WOOF for instance if I'm already competing against Wade, SD, QuikSand, etc in IHOF and FOFL? On the other hand, do we really want to invite Random Owner X, who might be a flake that leaves after three weeks? So you cycle through the same owners, and the available pool becomes more shallow when owners just have had enough of the game (or text sims in general). It's the same in FOBL though. But in FOBL, if we *really* were confronted with a problem, we could contract teams if we had to. Don't want to, but the option is there. FOF you're forced to run AI teams, which isn't really a good solution from a competitive or an advertising standpoint.

cuervo, I'd argue that joining a different league with the same owners can be rewarding if the leagues are different (different eras/different teams/different players)... we did it in OOTP with the still-active RWBL and defunct-JBL for a solid 3 real years

exactly. contraction is very easy in OOTP. and then when/if that happens, the league gets a jolt of excitement cuz of the "newness". but there is no "newness" in FOF, because the same setup you have in year one is the same setup you have in year 100. sure you get a little newness when you convert, but after a point its just the same stuff. and as you look at all the MP leagues there's that cookie-cutter feel to all of them (especially the IHOF, FOFL, WOOF type since it's the same owners in all of those leagues). at least with OOTP you can set up different eras of the sport, like deadball era and steroid era, you can manipulate the stats if you see too many homeruns are being hit or not enough batters are striking out. the AI of a computer game will never compare to the intelligence of a human so MP will always have some appeal to it, but it would just be a better experience if you could really shakeup a league's setup from time to time. |

Doesn't really help that owners in both leagues tend to end up pulling the same or very similar rules over from one league to another... you start out with very different "cultures" and end up with them all pretty much being the same. Where do you go if you happened to like the old?
