I watched the first episode. I thought it was all right. I missed last night's episode because I had a horrible headache and had to go to bed. I'll probably catch it on demand or something.

I like the show very much as well. It's not for everyone and there are alot of people trashing the show. I think alot of it comes from the fact that it's very realistic. The main characters can be selfish and annoying at times and the sex scenes are uncomfortable and awkward. But those are the reasons I find the show so fascinating.

I think I can give this show two more episodes, primarily due to its time slot, but im just not feeling it. They really didnt help themselves by promoting that MASSIVELY out of context line about being "the voice of a generation....or at least a voice of a generation" so much.

The first two episodes were good. I like how the show doesn't go out of its way to try and have really likeable characters.

I think it is pretty interesting that the writer/creator/Executive producer and even the director of the first show is the girl that stars in it. At 25. Done pretty well for yourself, eh?

Oh, and I just had to google on the dark-haired girl. I knew I had seen her somewhere, and was convinced it was on my kid's Disney shows. No, she's the lesbian girl on Mad Men. It is not like she is disguised or anything, but I would not have placed her ever without looking it up. Talk about two total different characters.

I actually had HBO on last night while on teh cmputer and watched it a bit as I worked on things.
Its...just.....I dunno how to even describe it. Its a show where I want to bitch slap every single character about a dozen times and even then it wouldn't help the show itself. They've collected up everything people generally dislike in other people and created this little clique of characters to do...what? Perhaps the title should be "NYC girls: a study in self obsession"? Really wasn't entertained by it. Was more like that train wreck affect. I kept hoping something interesting was gonna happen and then..it didn't. ahh well. YMMV. |

The show is great. The opening scene of episode 2 was one of the most uncomfortable but hilarious things I have ever seen.
FWIW, I want to bitchslap RendeR all the time, so I am surprised he doesn't identify with this show.

Watched all the episodes yesterday on HBOGO. I really like this show. It's basically a female companion piece to something like Louie. although it isn't nearly as well written. I'm a sucker for uncomfortable laughs(the whole bit about Syracuse date rape) and this show has enough.
I guess I can appreciate a semi-pure vision of one person moreso than some corporate type show like Veep(which is ok, but not great). Also, props for uncomfortable nudity. It seems like the lead's body is more common, yet the only chicks that ever get nekkid on shows are 8/10 or better. |

(which of course I prefer seeing hot chicks naked, but I could see it potentially hurting the self image of women that arent 8/10)

I enjoyed it - thought it tried to be the un-airbrushed version of Sex in the City. Hannah is at least an interesting character who is dead-center in the process of growing up. But if that's 13 pounds overweight these days... sigh.
Couldn't stand Veep. Gave it three episodes and turned it off midway through the third. I suspect there are elements to it that are more realistic than anything we've ever seen in a political drama, though. |

I find Adam to be one of the most interesting characters on television. The actor and character are a great combination.

HBO is now making episodes available early on HBOGO.
Anyways, I like the show but it seems that there's way too many storylines going on for this to merely be a 1/2 hour show. |

Last 3-4 episodes have been really strong. Adam and Ray are 2 of my favorite TV characters right now
Cocaine episode was great. Too bad Andrew Runnels is probably done. The uncomfortable dinner party was great. Marnie is so delusional and the girl who played Audrey was great. Sad to see Chris O'Dowd go, he played the perfect super douche. Topless ping pong was a bit much, but still that was a neat little episode. Finally last night with Ray and Adam and the stupid asshole dog was amazing. |

The irony of the show is that the best characters in the show are guys, Adam and Ray. The two worst episodes this season were the two that featured Hannah(Patrick Wilson episode and last week visting Jessa's dad). Lena Dunham should write her character off the show and feature Adam, Ray, Shoshana and Marnie. Jessa is even a better character but now she's gone. Dunham can write and direct but her character is the weakest on the show.

thats not true. hannah is not a worse character than shoshana or whatever her name is while the male characters are really well written and interesting, im sure plenty of women are in it for the marnie-hannah "friendship". every character on the show has a really distinct voice. that alone is really impressive writing. |

I still watch the show, but I am not sure why. I don't particularly enjoy it. There are some good bits here and there and I do like Adam and Ray.
I think all the characters are well written, but I just don't care about Jessa, Hannah or Marnie. I have no real empathy for them, since a majority of their "problems" are largely self-made. Was the OCD thing discussed before or did that just appear out of the blue in this last episode? I do like Hannah's parents. They make me laugh and are pretty dead-on casting wise.

This season is very good. Perhaps Shoshana is a bit much at times. I really like this new Adam storyline quite a bit. Marnie as a singer was delightfully over the top.

I thought the Patrick Wilson episode was one of the best they've done. I like Adam and Ray, but I don't understand how someone could have empathy for them, but not Hannah or Marnie. They all have large flaws and have many personality traits that would turn me off (think about Ray's outburst at the coffee shop), but are all incredibly well written characters.

I find it hard to empathize with Hannah because I dont get what shes actually after. You can be a bad person if we at least see you having goals and desires, it gives us something to root for. Theres the occasional reference to her wanting to write but weve only seen her walk away from jobs, except for the cocaine episode which was actually enjoyable and other than her writing I dont know what I should be rooting for when it comes to her. This episode did a lot to help me empathize with Marnie and Adam, not coincidentally neither of them was ever around Hannah, because we saw them trying to either do or be something.
I thought this was a really good episode for this show just because the characters, other than Hannah because I hate the OCD storyline, took steps either forward or backward. ETA - Full disclosure: I have not been a fan of the show. I watch it because I feel like I should be aware of it for various reasons and the timeslot works for me. I don't watch the show much, but I think that's what she's going for: Hannah doesn't know what she's after, so you're supposed to get that sense from the character.

The latest episode-
Marnie is just delightfully cringe-worthy. That Kanye West cover was lolbad. Ray had some really good one liners at the party as well. Obviously less Hannah is more. Adam's storyline was just frightening, but he's basically inspired brilliance from an acting perspective. Will be sad once this season is complete and the long wait for new episodes resumes. |

Once again Hannah was the weakest part of the episode. Adam and Marnie were brilliant as usual. They should be the leads. Ray and Shoshana are a good 2nd storyline. Lena Dunham needs to write Hannah off the show or at least have her interact more with the interesting characters.

I'm pretty sure she's not gonna write herself off a show where she's received a Lead Actress Emmy nomination and a Lead Actress Golden Globe.
