Live long and prosper, Prince to be Named Later
Figured we have a Death Crier, so we might as well have a birth announcement.

By the time he'll be in a position of power I'll likely be dead. Just kind of an odd thought really.

We fought a war so we don't have to give a shit about royal babies.

Yeah, we just decided to treat our Presidency with the worship of a pseudo-monarchy instead .

The Brits have announced they're sending the baby to the US to fufill the trade from 1812, as the newborn is the PTBNL (that is, Prince to Be Named Later)

It's so wonderful to see monarchy still alive, even if in unfortunately a ceremonial role only in most places.

Let's forget this foolish monarchy-idolizing, so we can get back to the Kardashians.

I like this idea of keeping people in naming suspense. Given the names people choose these days, seems more folks might want to do that.

Well if they name him South and he goes to a Kanye West concert, people could say that North and South are together again.

I like that they went old-school and royal instead of trendy like "Mason" or "Ethan".

That's a lot of naming pressure, when you stop and think about it. You're deciding the name of a king that's going to be in history books, to some degree. Do you follow up with another George, throw in a new name, it's crazy.

Has anybody here ever named their kid two days after they showed up? Is that a common thing?

It's not entirely unheard of with common folk -- I've known a few people over the years who were 24 hours or more before officially settling on a name -- but it actually seems pretty normal for at least the Brit royalty.

I did some google searching on this. Apparently, it's far more "common" than I thought. There were people who said they wanted to take said kid home and "try their name on" for a bit. Like see whether the kid grew into their name. So apparently it does happen for commoners.
