2014 NFL Regular Season, Week 13

Will the triad of good looking games tomorrow for Thanksgiving really be good?

Certainly one of the best Thanksgivings I can remember. I have 19 people coming over, and I'm really hoping the majority of them leave before the 49ers game kicks off.

Well, the Lions' season is on the line.

If they want to make the playoffs they really need to win 4 out of their next 5 games, which means they need win their next 4 (Chicago, Tampa, Minnesota, Chicago), because their last game of the season is in Green Bay. The Packers are far too good right now and the Lions have lost 23 straight games in the state of Wisconsin.

The Lions will likely be starting a rookie, undrafted free agent at left tackle, a second year undrafted free agent at right tackle, and a rookie 4th round pick at right guard. They haven't scored a touchdown in the last two games. Megatron is banged up. The Bears have won two straight.

If the Lions lose tomorrow, I think the wheels come off the wagon for the second straight year. Cries of "Same Old Lions" will be heard.

The other two games should be pretty good.

It is still Thursday football on short rest, so the chances for two good teams to play an awful game is very high. It does seem to be the best set of matchups on a Thanksgiving in awhile, but meh, I'm so annoyed at Thursday football in general that I'm expecting some disappointment.

It's kind of weird. They've been playing the Thanksgiving Day games for decades now and I can't remember anyone ever complaining about the lack of rest leading to poor football because the Thanksgiving Day games were on a Thursday. (Most people just complained that they were forced to watch the Lions.)

This complaint seems to be a relatively new phenomenon. Is it because there have been so many more Thursday night games recently that we finally have a larger sample size? I mean, it's hard to ignore the results/facts, which do seem to evidence that Thursday games tend to be worse than Sunday games.

Maybe teams should always have their bye week prior to the Thursday games.

I've wondered for a while now why this hasn't been the case already. Is that truly so hard to work into the schedule?

I would assume competitive advantage. If you made this a policy for 2016, there are certainly weeks where you have Thrusday night games and no teams have a BYE the week before, so no one could play with a full week+ of rest. So teams playing (roughly, I don't want to check the BYE calendar that much) weeks 5-13 get a Bye week before their Thursday game and teams on weeks 1-4, and 14-17 don;t. That's arguably unfair to those that just happen to be scheduled early or late.

I think it's better no one gets any extra bye-week rest than that.

I don't understand why teams with a Calvin Johnson/Jimmy Graham ever have him on the bench in goal to go situations. You split him out wide and either the defense commits 2 (or at least shades a 2nd to their side) and you have slightly better numbers in the box, or they single them up, you still have 10v10 in the box, but if you decide to run play action you've got Megatron singled up as an option instead of rarely used blocking TE du jour.

Philly has looked VERY impressive against Dallas so far.

Have to wonder if only leading by 16 after that dominant of a performance might come back to bite them.

Great way to finish off a Thanksgiving dinner. Now hopefully the Seahawks can whip the 49ers and the day will be complete!

Not worried about the punt, but keeping the starters in during a curb stomp is just begging for bad things.

Dallas should be thankful for their soft schedule. Now 1-3 against teams currently over .500.

Glad that's over.

Looked like Romo had no zip on his throws today. Guessing that is due to the late Sunday night game and there wasn't enough time for his back to recover.

Just an ugly, disappointing performance from Dallas.

That was awesome. The NFL Jambaroo is one of the highlights of my week.

That commercial just aired during the San Fran/Seattle game and it just made me laugh. Now I love that commercial!

I'd probably still take Kap between those two. I'd rather have Derek Carr over both of them though

There are times that Kap doesn't look qualified to QB a high school team. This game is shaping up like that.

Even when things go bad they go good for Seattle.

This Niner offense continues to be a source of major frustration.

Considering that's eleven more points than SF has scored so far, I wouldn't worry too much.
