I hope our English/European members will let us know what kind of weather they get out of this.

Looks like our weather here in Cincinnati is going to calm down for the next 10-15 days.

Our downtown area is under water. The crest of the river is going to go 2 feet over the previous record. It's a mess.
We live on interstate 44. It has been shut down 3 miles west of us to I270. Which is a 24 mile stretch.
The river crests tonight here.
This has been a very bad event for our area.

It's been the warmest Christmas in my lifetime and apparently since the start of temperature measuring.

But we're not getting the extremes like in the UK, it just feels like the autumn started a month and a half later and it looks like we'll see spring kick in a month and a half earlier too, reaching the unusual winterless spring-summer-summer2-autumn sequence.

Thanks . We are. We live in a hill.
The crest has hit and is actually 2 feet less than predicted. Comes in just under the record.
We went to a park on a bluff above town today. It is bad.
The weather channel has been covering it pretty extensively, if you want to see it.

And to MIJBs post. It seems like the seasons have been starting later and later. It is kind of weird.

And as we know, a long summer is always followed by a long winter to come.

Winter is coming.

Weve gotten .5 inches of snow...and the city is paralyzed! I was going to go to hockey, and was kind of worried about the southerners on the roads...then i got to my road, it is a solid sheet of ice. even with 4 wheel drive...im going nowhere.

As of this morning, where I live was pretty much dead center mass in the maximum ice accumulation area, with .5 to .75 inches (in addition to 6-8 inches of snow). The storm track seems to be trending a hair southward. I'm hoping it continues in that direction, as it would put us more solidly in the all-snow zone.

Yea... same here in Northern Virginia. I was out shopping and the parking lot was an ice rink. I've read they've reported somewhere around 160 accidents.

Yep, I'm in Springfield this week for work and went out to dinner in Alexandria...and had to endure a 45 minute trek back....saw about 10 cars in the emergency lanes that had suffered collisions.

It has. Looks like we dodged a bullet here. They're now talking about close to an inch of ice on trees and powerlines being possible in areas 50-100 miles south of here, but it's looking like all snow in my area. That said, of course the city infrastructure isn't set up to handle anything close to the amount of snow we're likely to get (close to a foot.) Five inches last year closed school for 3 days. At least this is coming on a weekend, but I'm guessing it'll be Monday before we can get out of our neighborhood safely, and Wednesday before school has a chance to start. #CabinFever

Silly me - I agreed to take extra call last month for this upcoming weekend. I'll have to do my best to travel to the local hospital in a potential heavy snow storm. Fortunately, it is only 4 to 5 miles away and my wife has a SUV with AWD.

Pretty much the story of every single winter storm in the Carolinas. This has been pretty much a zero as far as snow goes in the Raleigh area. We've gotten lots of sleet so far though. Don't know if this will ever become much of a snowmaker between now and tomorrow midday, but at least I didn't have to go into work in this mess.

I guess I'm just getting old and have been through this enough times. The forecast says that we're looking at 12"-18" of snow and my reaction is mostly just "Eh, that's not that bad."

(Thought the projected 55mph+ winds might be an issue..)

It'll be interesting to see whether Athens ends up with anything at all. The rain seemed to be much heavier here all day than in other parts of north Georgia, my yard is basically several small ponds. Snow isn't going to stick to the ground in that condition unless it's a very long snowfall. Ice on the other hand, that may get tricky for keeping the electricity on.

Crazy winds. Power has blinked a few times. Keeping fingers crossed that it stays on.

Already shoveled a path to walk the dogs, heavy snow.

It hit Mystic a little bit ago. Now it's pouring snow. We're due for 12-18 with blizzard conditions. Concern for flooding is high, because of astronomically high tides, along with the winds. I live down near the water, and this doesn't really bode well for us.

My hometown of Camp Hill (PA) is getting upwards of three feet. Reminds me of '96, when we got forty inches.

NYC is heading toward two feet or more, but sixty miles away, where I'm at, we still don't have an inch. The gradient on this storm is nuts.

High tide number two is rolling in. The first one was a killer at the shore; and they were predicting that the third, tomorrow morning, would be the worst of the three as the winds and snow were going to prevent each one from fully rolling out and the back bays would start to fill up. If each one gets worst than the first I can't imagine what tomorrow will look like.

Just hoping that doesn't start to affect us along the river. Luckily we are in a spot where the road is separated from the river (river winds one way and road winds the other) so we not only don't see the river from where we are but are just outside of a flood zone as far as insurance is concerned. It has kept us from worrying about flooding during the other storms but what has us slightly concerned is that every location has reported flooding worse than what they had with hurricane Sandy and any other recent storm.

There is a small semi-paved road across the street that goes down to the river. If that starts to show reflections of growing water, that will be the only time I'll worry. Until then, I'll just be in monitor mode.

Be careful, guys. I don't want a memorial for one of you having a heart attack from too much snow shoveling. At least three in the NYC area have already died connected to snow moving.
