Most Beautiful Song?

You guys are music junkies and seem to love the music questions. So.....what do you think is the most beautiful song? Classical music counts if you would like. Have a person who you think has the most beautiful voice?

Without thinking about it much, I'm a huge fan of "Your Song" by Elton John.

Pretty partial to Howard Hanson's Symphony No. 2 "Romantic" Second Movement. I'll probably think of a thousand things I should've posted later. When I do, I will.

I think last time this thread happened I posted Nella Fantasia performed by Chloe Agnew (which is an arrangement with added lyrics of the main theme from the movie "The Mission" composed by Ennio Morriconne.)

I can't choose, but "Fawn" by Tom Waits is up there for me. I played it for my grandpa iin his memory for the funeral (even though I couldn't afford to be there ).

I think "The Wind" by Cat Stevens is also in my top three.

Ok, so I did some Beatles songs so Lathum's head would explode (although the songs are both lyrically and musically beautiful), and popped in probably the 4 most popular classical pieces.

If you're talking about songs that touch your heart, then:

Angel Baby - Rosie & The Originals
Try Me - James Brown
Lo Much Que Te Quiero - Rene y Rene
Suavecito- Malo
Before the Next Tear Drop Falls - Freddy Fender
Volver, volver - Vicente Fernandez (anything by him, really)
Mexico Lindo Y Querido - Jorge Negrete

I don't think anyone here will know the last 2 songs, but they remind me of where I come from.

I second this, it was what immediately popped in my head when I read the title of the thread.

I also love "Baby Mine", the song from Dumbo. The entire song is beautiful, the words, the music, it's perfect. Allison Krause did a version of it a few years ago, and it's amazing. As soon as I hear the song start, I grab a Kleenex because I know I'm going to cry.

Old Man River was a song I heard when I was 13 in Memphis, Tennessee down my the Mississippi River at a 4th of July Concert at Mud Island, the man that sung it sounded better than Paul Robeson, but Paul Robeson sings it amazing.

Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah deserves to be in the conversation. It's been redone a lot of different ways, but even with a weak or offbeat rendition, it's really tough to take the heart out of the song -- which I consider a testament to it.

God Only Knows is a nice pick.

I've also always liked Joaquin Rodrigo's 'Concierto de Aranjuez'.

I wish I knew more classical works so I could answer this more intelligently.

Some songs I find beautiful off the top of my head:

"Wrapped Around Your Finger" - The Police. Beautiful melody, not so beautiful lyrics.
"Tea In The Sahara" - The Police. Same as above.
"Fortress Around Your Heart" - Sting. Slightly more positive lyrics than the above pair.
"The Secret Marriage" - Sting. Not a popular wedding choice, unfortunately.
"Fields of Gold" - Sting
"Till The End of Time" - Mariah Carey
"Almost Hear You Sigh" - Rolling Stones

Sorry I can't pick just one.
