NOFL Recruiting Thread

This is a thread for interesting recruiting facts and to tell us of your recruiting exploits (although I wouldn't mention any commits until it becomes official after the week is processed.)

Some interesting tidbits:

- This may be the first time I've ever seen a class with no 5 star QB's. Too many of them are interested in UCLA. The top 3 QB's are at least interested in one human owned team. It'll be interesting if any of our low ranked teams get a top 10 QB from this class. I think at least one will.

- This class is stacked with HB talent. Surprisingly, the top HB in the nation has Texas A&M at the top of his list, but he has 4 human teams in his top 10. That will be one fun recruiting battle to follow.

- Only 2 5 star WR's, but Texas A&M has 1 of them interested.

- The class is very light in talent at the tackle position. Again, Texas A&M has the most interest.

- 3 stud DE's highlight the class including the 3rd one who is interested in Arkansas.

- The class lacks any elite CB's.

- The #1 player in the class is a FS who doesn't have any human team in his top 10.

- Texas A&M has by far the most elite prospects interested in them. Will they be able to land any of them against Texas and the other big boys? Will any of us sweep in and raise interest?

I've always been curious, how do you handle Athletes and figure out where they play? Do they translate just as well as an actual position player with the same stats and ratings?

I use their size as a cue to where they'll play best.

I haven't logged on yet (will in a little while). It sounds like it's a rather shallow class in terms of top level talent. Hopefully it offers plenty of quality depth.

I wouldn't say that.. the HB elite talent is insane. Certain positions are stacked and others are weak.

I agree there are very few 5 star this year especially that are interested in our teams from the start...

I think I have found some sleepers though so we will see...

I also noticed that despite my depth at WR (only 1 SR) I had alot of interest at that position which is wierd... Same thing with DE which was wierd...

For a guy who usually plays with IU, it was a bit strange to have 4 and 5 star guys interested in us.

Just took a quick look at the class....The halfback quality and depth is .

Seems like the defensive end position is very strong as well. I'll do my recruiting tonight (didn't get a chance to do it last night).

Only four.... Poor you!

I have NC, VA, GA, FL... GA has replaced PA in this years game for NCSU... I guess that is a good trade of...

Anthony? How may pipelines do you have?

If you click on the right stick (R3 button) it'll bring up their "player card". You can then cycle through with the LB and RB through their interests and abilities. I'd say that if a 6'2" 190 lb guy has B+ for zone coverage then he's probably going to play in the secondary. Their abilities won't be all shown, so in that instance there will be no run block ability shown. You can guess from their whether they'd be a receiver or defensive back.

On a different note, I have heard of an exploit in recruiting where you can offer a player a scholarship, have him visit, and then rescind the offer. You then can offer him again and have him visit again. I can't remember where I saw that (OS or Maddenmania) but I believe that the next patch was supposed to fix it. I'm not sure if anyone else has any info on it or can verify it.

Agreed. I think we would all take a dim view of using clear exploits, and I trust everyone not to try that.

In Week 1 I play against bhlloy and his Oregon State Beavers. I already have 2 recruits visiting my campus this week.

First is Gerald Brown, the #6 Quarterback in the Country who is also a 4 star prospect. He hails from nearby San Leandro, California. Gerry has me ranked 5th on his interest list. At 6'0 215 he isn't necessarily huge, but he has a cannon for an arm (A THP) decent accuracy already (B THA) and quality awareness (B+ AWR), plus enough quickness to elude the rush (B- SPD). It's safe to say that he is my biggest Quarterback prospect (and quite possibly overall prospect) this year.

Second is Chris Jackson, the #19 Guard in the Country who is a 3 star prospect. He hails from Fountain Valley, California. Chris has me ranked 3rd on his interest list. He's a big boy coming out of high school, already at 6'2 315. While some areas of his game are already good (B+ RBS, B- RBF), other areas are definetely going to have to develop (D+ IBL, C PBF). His awareness is already very high (B+ AWR) and will hopefuly make up for the other areas as they develop over time. Chris is the top Guard on my recruiting board.

Anybody get any commits in week 2? I had some big visits in my week 1 game so I'm hoping for at least a soft from my QB prospect.

yeah, you'll be forced to forfeit all your games for having 15 players on the field for defense'

No big ones but I did sign a 2 start sleeper FS this week. He shall remain nameless since we do not announce signing until the week is advanced. I am at work but from memory he is C- overall, C+ in both MC and ZC, speed B+, all of his stats are C- or better except strength D and most importantly his Awareness is A+!!!!

I didn't really need a great deal at either safety position as I am pretty young and decently talented there already but this guy will make a nice backup until he gets to star as an upperclassman.
