Just wondering how I even got to the point where I read 4 articles in a row about how sloths take a dump. It’s apparently their #1 cause of death in the wild.

Interesting. I figured that would be number two.

I never expected the story of the flat-earther making DIY rockets to end any other way.

He spent so much time and effort trying to prove the Earth was flat that he became flat himself.

The shower caddy suction cup thing fell today during my shower. Hence begins the cycle of about a week where it will fall during the day or mid shower until eventually it sticks again for about 6 months. Then process repeats...

Looks like Costco is changing their policy:

When this happens to us, it is usually 11:42pm and I am almost asleep.

There’s nothing quite as frustrating as renting a movie in advance on the Red Box app to save time, then standing in line at the kiosk behind some moron who browses for 10 minutes without renting anything.

Based on the year we're told the Jetsons take place (2062), Mr. Spacely, George, and Jane would most likely already be alive in our current time.

We have some catching up to do.

Nice factoid.

We still haven't caught up with 2001 though so not optimistic at all.

So who drives a BMW, Audi or Mercedes?

Apparently those that do are more likely to be jerks.

I'm happy enough with the promise of self-driving cars in next 10-15 years.

It'll be good when you get old and not have to worry about driving once you get to that "point".

Cars are already smarter than me. As I age I am beginning to feel dumber and dumber.

This is the reason I hang on to my 2004 toyota tacoma with manual locks and windows and a cassette player.

Hah, I have one lying around.

I had a discussion recently with family about how nowadays you can't live without GPS, so much easier than the old road atlas. My wife and I did discuss buying a road atlas and map of Atlanta for the kids for Christmas; and teach both how to read/use them.

While wholeheartedly for this, it wouldn't take.

More like teaching a new sailor to fashion a sextant than to plug in and use his GPS.

Still, if the whole blackout Skynet thing were to happen. Then yeah, Hell Yeah. Those Rand McSextant skills would be paramount.

Toyota and Subaru here. I’ve never been interested in fancy cars. Three years ago, I was driving a ‘99 Civic EX. Loved that car!

Not to pedestrians. Cyclists, on the other hand, are a bloody menace.

Ironically I only got the Audi because it was in shockingly good shape, and I still got it down to a far cheaper price than less assholy cars. I really am not a car guy, and I hate driving.

You guys seem to be having serious discussion in the Dems thread. I will leave the jokes here.

Garth Brooks is getting absolutely crushed online for posting a pic of him wearing a Sanders jersey on Instagram. A silver and blue Sanders jersey. A silver and blue Sanders jersey with the number 20 on it. A silver and blue Sanders jersey with the number 20 on it before he performed in Detroit.

We are looking into refinancing since interests rates are really good. I went online to just poke around and maybe find a refinance calculator. ended up on lending tree and clicked through some questions. It got to the point where it asked for my email, I put it in full well expecting to get spammed. No big deal. I then had to enter my phone number. A little leery of that but I did.

Literally as soon as I clicked complete my phone rang 4 times in a row with 4 different brokers. I answered the first two, letting the second guy know what a horrendous business model it is to call someone 2 seconds after they fill in the info, and I am in no way ready to talk to anyone let alone make a decision.

I full well expected to get spammed, but that was unreal.

Does CNN have local commercial time? Because I just saw a Fox News ad on CNN (DirecTV).

(I suspect so as the cut back to programming was less than smooth)

CV adjacent post.

I am seeing a lot of friends and acquaintances who are beginning the joys of working remotely. Both as employers and employees are wondering why they did not do this before.

Has anybody been forced into working remotely or having their employees working remotely and are finding out it suits them better than they thought it would?

I'll let you know. Sometime later this year they will be doing a complete remodel of the area of the building where I sit. They are expecting we'll work from home for 2-3 months while this is happening.

I can work from home now and I find it a bit of a distraction some times.

It's weird because I work from home now but miss working at an office from time to time. Working from home creates some bad habits.

But I feel like if I went back to a job where I had to be in the office, I'd hate it within a week.

Yeah, this is exactly how I feel. I work from home 3-4 days a week normally, 5 days enforced right now and while I feel isolated during the week and am definitely not as disciplined and productive while working when in an office, I couldn’t go back to an office job unless I had zero other options.

And to be fair with the commute and the fact that once I left the office it would have to be an act of god to get me back in front of the computer, I still think they are getting infinitely more work out of me in the long run, even if there are distractions at home during the day.

Yes, typically at least one break an hour belongs to the local cable systems (sometimes two, on a very few hours none). Dish & Direct both frequently cover those with promos, per inquiry spots, etc etc.

What happens in most of those cases are those promo spots get dropped in places they shouldn't by sloppy traffic departments (who handle that sort of thing).
