Poor AFC East. After years and years of people saying they sucked, they have a good start to the year and people still think they are going to lose when they aren't playing.

Ditto, just turned it on and the first thing I see is a pick-six by Manning.

I LOVE the NFC South's record, especially since my favorite team has 5 of those 7 victories

NFL record is 42 picks in a season, Eli had 12 and was on pace for 38 through 5 games. That Manning family is showing no mercy - just trying to re-write the entire record book in one year!

AFC South is low because they are unfairly strapped with the Jaguars.

Good sign: That's about the best I've seen Cutler in a long, long time.

Bad sign: As I've said repeatedly now - Bears defense is old, slow, and bad. They still have a knack for forcing turnovers, but if they don't get them, they're absolutely awful.

They were just average when they were healthy, but when you lose that many DTs you get a below average defense. What bothers me more is this alleged offensive guru they hired. I haven't seen any wizardry on that side of the ball. The Bears playcalling is atrocious; I keep checking to see if John Schoop is in the booth. Time management is still an issue, and they still play not to lose.

My wife thinks that Trestman is really a long, lost Gibb brother. Maybe he sings better than he coaches. Color me unimpressed.

Really? I'm actually reasonably impressed with Trestman, particularly since it's 6 games in his coaching career. He's absolutely gotten the o-line problems dealt with, and Cutler is completing more passes.

Believe it or not, the Bears are among the league leaders in touchdowns. Even without the defensive touchdowns, they're up there.

Alshon Jeffery giving them a second option has helped a lot. He's really improved this year.. But yeah, I like Trestman's style. He seems like a sure handed dude, and I think Cutler likes playing for him. They're finding ways to win this year and I don't think they are good enough to beat Seattle or Frisco, but Trestman is doing a good job.

Coming into this week the bears have a top 10 offense according to DVOA. The last time the bears had a top 10 DVOA offense was 1995. The bears have only had a top 20 offense a handful of times over that same span. That's not impressive?

Betting wise I did well on the game. Had the +47.5 and Giants to go over 21 team points. Plus the +24 in the first half. Only bet I lost was Giants on the moneyline.

As a lifelong Giants fan this season has just been so odd. So many complete breakdowns in every stage of the game. It is just weird watching them be so bad, it has been so long since they haven't been at least competitive. For the last 9 years at the very least they have been a team that could knock anyone off at any given time.

At this point the season is done, which is so odd to say in week 6, but it is. I'll still watch every game, and hope they win, but I am not going to get to upset about the losses because it is obvious this team has needs and the only way to fix them is with high draft picks.

I'll be rooting for the Seahawks the rest of the way, would be nice for all my Seattle friends to get there.

Fixing the O-line is misleading; they have better players on both sides of Garza. Maybe it's Trestman/Kromer? Or maybe just significantly better guards/tackles.

Or New Orleans or Detroit. And probably not the Packers. And probably not a few more other NFC teams. The Falcons are 1- 4 and -- pre-injury to Jones -- would annihilate the Bears, imo.

Who have they played? Maybe statistically they are in the Top 10 but they just don't pass the "eye" test to me. (See the second half of last night's game, for example.) When the defense doesn't score, they lose.

Maybe CW is right; it's only been six games. Trestman still seems overmatched at this level. Maybe I'm wrong. As a Bears fan, I hope that I am.

Excited to have another shot at the Raiders. Neither team seems to win at home of late. The Chiefs haven't won at home against them since 2006.

Some people just need to be taken out back and have a bullet put in their head. I am a incredibly non-violent person except when it comes to people who harm innocent children.

Bears rank in sacks allowed:

2013 - 5th
2012 - 25th
2011 - 27th
2010 - 32nd

That's a pretty marked improvement. I'm going to say that quite a bit of that probably has to do with coaching. Even if we can all agree that Kyle Long is an upgrade and appears very impressive, the fact is that he had 4-5 career starts at guard in college. This isn't some guy coming out of Alabama with 30+ starts. So even though athletically he's a big upgrade, he's probably being coached up quite a bit.

I still don't think the Giants are done. I'm not a Giants fan, but the team is not terrible and they are in a division where if the Cowboys lose to the Redskins and the Eagles somehow lose, they are 2 games back. Even if those teams win, they are 3 back with games to play against all of them. Sure it's a long shot, but their division is that bad so far.

The problem is that has been said the last 3 weeks. IF they beat the Eagles they are a game back, if they beat the Panthers they are 1-2, if they beat the Chiefs they can get back in it. The problem is they aren't winning these games and losing most in spectacular fashion.

There next 3 are Minny, Philly, and Oakland. I guess if they run the table and get some momentum they can get back into it, but nothing they have done indicates they can.

I think their record is what they are. A team with a poor offensive line, no running game, and aging and injured defense with no pass rush. Eli is a QB playing with no confidence and trying to force things, and half the time he does make a good throw the receivers drop the ball.

The Mannings have a chance to each set a record this season. Peyton could set touchdowns in a season and Eli could set interceptions in a season (but would the Giants allow him to even get close before shutting him down?).

Eli is gonna have to pick up the pace for that to happen. He's only on pace for 40 INTs which would leave him 2 short of tying George Blanda for the record.
