Actually, it seems a solid meat claw is quite expensive. So perhaps $26 for Maximum Football is the better deal.

Personal Foul/Running stats

Can't find if this has been mentioned before. Playing a US based regular season game while executing a running play and there is a personal foul penalty called against the defense the running back is getting credited with a 15 yard run in the stats and first downs for the penalty and the run are credited to the team.

Invalid depth chart

Thanks for your suggestions. I think the problem was due to an injured player, but I thought I had substituted him properly. What I ended up doing was using the "autofill" function to dump the problem and then went through the chart making adjustments, very slowly and carefully. That got rid of the program's objections to my depth chart and still allowed for my preferences.

Speaking of depth chart preferences - This has come up in another thread, but I am sometimes "mystified" by the autofill choices. Does the game make assignments on the basis of two ratings or does it use more? I know the profiles list two ratings per position, e.g., RB: speed, strength, etc. Are more than two ratings considered in the algorithms that determine play outcomes? I am wondering how obsessive to be when ordering my depth chart. For example, re LBs I can see block avoidance, strength, speed, agility, and intelligence all being important. I also assume (in my abject ignorance of such things) that the more parameters there are in the alogrithms the harder it is to write the program. Just wondering.

Also, and I think I asked this once before: when attempting to model an actual roster gleaned from a team website (e.g., Wisconsin-Whitewater) I usually find only physical characteristics, e.g., weight and height. Using "old coach's" chart I can translate weights into strength and maybe speed, but not much else. Does anyone have any thoughts about this. I am prepared to find that I am the only one who cares about this issue.

Indoor Glitch

I have been playing with the indoor rules for a two weeks. The last couple of days I have the kickoff (or field goal attempt) go into the wall and out of view. The returner will keep running into the wall to get the ball, but can not get it. The game does not call it out of bounds or stop the play. I don't know if anyone else has this problem.

Player number 0

It usually happens at the beginning of a new season. This time it's at QB. Why is some player with the number 0 poping up at qb instead of my starter? Are the 0's all the guys that retired? If so. how do you get their replacements to fill in?

I have only seen this happen in a quick game, when the depth chart wasnt filled in for the particular position. In a league game its SUPPOSED to tell you that the team doesnt have a valid depth chart if their are unfilled position, but I have seen it allow the game to go on, usually filling the position in with the worst player on the team.

Speaking of, why is the game so backwards as far as filling in positions..... it seems it fills in empty roster spots with the absolute worst players it can find.

I even put the team on computer controlled and they still do not play any of the 3 starting QB's.

Something else i've been noticing recently. On punts and kickoffs, the returners are not setting up under the ball. The ball is bouncing on front of them and skipping past. This is my 4th or 5th season and I started seeing this late last season. I am at a loss as to why it's happening.

Playoff bug?

You know how you can add rounds, right? Well I got to the AFC championship game and it ended in a tie. And It was tied through overtime as well. The game just ended that way. It did not go into a 2nd OT. When I checked to see who advanced, it had the home team advance. But the game ended in a 21-21 tie.

And the famous Marauders response.

It isn't a bug, but it is an issue.

The game goes into overtime, and plays by the rules of the game. The game is set to one sudden death overtime.

This can obviosuly be a problem in playoff games.

I think this is correct if you factor in the Canadian exchange rate. But you have to use the exchange rate from a while back. They are still in beta with the current rate.

I'm curious as to how many sacks everyone else is seeing. In two games, one using Hack's playbooks, one using my own, I saw 22 and 18 sacks respectfully.

This is why I posted the improvements to OL blocking schemes. With these schemes in my playbooks, I rarely get more than 4 sacks per team.

Since I have now started getting picks I notice there is never a return by the defensive player. Double checked the log on 15 or so games and there was not a single return.

There's just so many holes in what MFB outputs at this point. The gamelogs and statistics on their own are near useless in my opinion. ...but eventually the output has got to get better and it looks like we're a year/two out<3.0> from seeing that happen.

Not only is there no update yet, but Daivd seems to have lost Marauders!

I have to apologize for not posting to the public forum in a while. I have worked very hard to help make this a great community of active Maximum Football supporters, and I have firmly believed that Maximum Football was ready to progress into a top football title on the PC. At this time, I am unsure of what information I can give the community that would be helpful other than to say that some of the issues were resolved in testing some time ago.

Beyond that, I can give you little in updates, as I have not been given a full progress report to be forwarded to the public since this topic was created. The other beta team members are in a similar situation and are bound by the NDA until release.

The best person to answer the questions asked here is David. He is the game developer, software programmer, PR person, and decision maker when it comes to Maximum Football. It's his product, and he is the only one who knows what direction the updates and expansion will be taking in the future.
