Online Dynasty Tournament Signup

Hey all. There seems to be some problems with Online Dynasties...and not just some peoples...everybody's. Aparently around week 3 or 4 the following errors start occuring. These are just copy/pasted from the OS forums.

- Advance to week 2, the commishes screen shows him as being 2-0 with the dynasty in week 2. (he only played one game). My screen shows us in week 1 with 9 of the 12 members having lost their results, and 6 of the 9 also lost their recruiting.

- I have noticed now that about 10-20% of the games played in the online dynasty I am in are showing up with incorrect scores after the fact. One example even has a user that beat the CPU, showing up as a CPU win.

- I beat FCS Northwest 132-14 (Yeah, I know). However, after we advanced a week it showed that I beat them 54-3, which is janky because it took away my starting QBs 9 TD passes, which really affects Heisman voting.

Aparently even Pasta Padre's much hyped online Dynasty has locked up completely. So...I'm sure EA will put out a patch eventually to correct these errors. In the meantime we're just going to have to keep practicing against eachother. Maybe we can lock in a good set of sliders in the meantime.

Very disappointing. Online dynasties were a key to my purchase. I hope they get this straightened out in a timely manner (i.e not in December or even November) or I'll be disappointed with my purchase and will finally hold out next year for a week or two to see if any big problems like this occur.

Thinking about it, if we are going to delay the dynasty leagues until it is fixed, we should set up some sort of open tournament in the mean time. Perhaps each team is drawn into a group, then the top x teams from each group will advance to the playoffs?

I had heard rumblings of this problem coming. Guess my RROD isn't the end of the world. What's worse is that this is not going to be addressed in the first patch supposedly so given the certification process, we may be looking 1 month or more.

Sub 80 schools but free reign to choose any school from any conference?

These might be server side issues, so no certification would be needed since the fixes won't go to the console. That would be the best scenario, otherwise you are right, it might be a while.

Would we do one, all-FOFC tournament (maybe we can keep the "groups" in respect to the leagues)?

Why did I even think that EA could pull off something like online dynasties? I mean, it's not like EA is the largest third-party software company in the world. Oh wait...

Can you imagine Halo 3, Gears of War, or Call of Duty 4 launching with a broken online system? Seriously? No other company that has an online multiplayer element would even imagine having it be unplayable for hours let alone weeks/months.

They better get this fixed soon or else. I guess I have nothing to threaten them with...soooooooo...they better fix it soon OR ELSE we all will be pissed. That's my bitching for today

Oh, I'm down with the sickness as well. Sign me up for the tourney.

If we get enough people, we can even go the Euro 2008 route, and have a qualifying round into the final tourney.

How about the two best teams play in the FOFC bowl for the championship, and the two worst teams play in the MBBF bowl for a stick with a peice of poo on it.

Should we make Thursday 12 P.M. the deadline for those who want in to declare in this thread?

It seems like that the developers are working on the dynasty problem.

If we end up with 16 people we could do 4 - 4 team round robin groups and then a knockout phase with the top 2 from each group advancing...?

With 18 players, I say we close the sign-up. How should we set-up the tournament? I would like to see a group stage, then a playoff. However, with 18 players, I'm not sure on how we should do it.

With 18, the only even way I see to do it if you want a group type stage would be either 3 groups of 6 or 6 groups of 3. Either way, it is going to create some byes in the 2nd round. If you went with 3 groups of 6, each person could play every other in the group with the top 2 in points advancing. With 6 groups of 3, just the top person from each group would advance. Since, we have some time to kill, I'd argue for 3 groups of 6 with the top 2 in total points (win equal to 3 points) getting a bye in the next round.

If we go with the three division, six players each, how many games? Any out-of-division/group games? You really wouldn't need a points system, since we won't have ties. It would have to go by best record or point difference.

No need for out of division games. If we did home and home in each group, that would be 10 games just in the first round. Then the top two from each group advance.

That's a lot of games.

If we did 6 groups of 3 we could do home and homes which would only be 4 games per team in the first round. Then the winner of each group advanced. This way sounds good to me.

We all agree 4 groups works he best. How about 2 groups with 4 teams and 2 groups with 5 teams. Top 2 in each group advance.

I don't really care, but I'd imagine it would be preferable for some that everyone play the same number of games in the opening rounds.
