It'll let you convince them to stay, and say clear as day "STAYING" next to their name but when you go to the next season they do not appear on their rosters. Ran into this problem in my buddies and I league, so he doesn't allow his guys to come back now since it can be a huge advantage.

Based on this, all league members are advised not to try to convince players to stay for another year. It doesn't work, so you will just be wasting your recruiting efforts if you try to convince them to stay another season.

You can waste all the time you want, when you go to recruiting your time resets to the full 10 hours. It's like nothing ever happened.
