Quick Summary:
About half of this bracket appears to be extremely strong...unfortunately a couple of strong songs will be eliminated in the first round and some weaker pairs will allow mediocre songs to move on. |

I like a good number of these songs that I did not vote for. Most of the others to date have only had at most 2 I cringed when I pressed the vote button.

Re: Believe It or Not.
The fact that they did not re-make The Greatest American Hero with Nathan Fillion as the lead and Bruce Campbell as the FBI agent before they got too old to do it is one of the great missed-TV opportunities of my lifetime. Last edited by albionmoonlight : 11-12-2019 at 08:51 AM. |

Great call. Is it to late to do a modern version where they have matured and he has a little better grasp on what he can do but not quite? That would work. Lets pitch it to Hollywood and when its a smash hit we buy our sub and nuclear shelter.

First group I voted for all high seeds, though I want Candy vs Believe it or not gave me pause for a minute.

First bracket where I've known enough songs to vote on every single pairing

I'm very disappointed in this board.
I thought we, as a society, were over the Baja Men. They're trolls in music form.

We must be voting on the worst songs.
Joey and Get Together should not be losing. |

"Beds are Burning" is a tough setup here... if we could all agree that they are in fact a one-hit wonder and we're just debating the merits of the song and its station... then it doesn't belong as a super-low seed, but rather around 50-75 overall. Ambiguity about whether the band had enough other success to be disqualifiying has to be part of why it ranks so low here, and gets placed against a potential juggernaut.

I never liked the Beds are Burning song, but Forgotten Years was a good song. And may be applicable to life today in the U.S.

Agreed. Joey should go far, but looks like a one-and-done. |

+1 on Joey, my former angsty teenage self is having real hard time with the lack of respect Concrete Blonde is getting.
Maybe it wasn’t just a phase, maybe the whole world really doesn’t understand me … better lock myself in my room and put Tomorrow Wendy on repeat. |

Thoughts: Not one lower "seeded" team won in this section... Nena vs Midnight Oil - high vote total, Oil did well, but a true OHW classic is hard to overcome. Thin Lizzy vs Concrete Blonde - a lot of Blonde lovers, as noted in the comments here and in the original OHW Thread, but Thin Lizzy got a ton of support in what was a tough match up. It makes round 2 interesting. Baha Men vs Jump'n the Saddle Band - apologies to Crimson Fox and anyone else that is fan of either of these songs...what a TERRIBLE pairing. Bow Wow Wow vs Joey Scarbury - Scarbury with a lot of early support, but I Want Candy ended up pulling away. This ultimately played out about like I expected. Gary Numan vs The Youngbloods - had no idea what to expect with this one...my guess was a tight race in a really tough pairing, but it didn't play out that way. Next round will be interesting. Rockwell vs Jennifer Page - Michael Jackson wins again...or Rockwell rather. A pretty easy round 1 match up... Sugarhill Gang vs MFSB - easy one to predict... Alannah Myles vs Stories - thought this was pretty evenly matched, but it didn't play out that way... Last edited by Breeze : 11-14-2019 at 10:05 AM. |
