RFL II, 2011: Bowls Week - Deadline Friday (3/11) at 11 p.m. EST

Alright, we're almost back to the games! Now is the time to set up your recruiting boards, redshirt players as needed, set up your depth charts, and request schedule changes for your team. RFL has a no FCS opponent policy, so if one is on your schedule, you'll need to replace them. Also, a team can have no more than 7 home games.

I've set the deadline for Friday. Not sure if that works for everyone, especially Foz. Please let me know if it doesn't work. Ideally, I'd like for the regular season to start by Saturday, but if that isn't doable, it isn't doable.

I'm heading to China next Wednesday for two weeks. So, if possible, if I have any games against human opponents in the first 3 or 4 games, I'd like to move them around. I'd also like to get the weaker teams moved into the spots where the game is likely to be simmed. I'll log in later today and take a look and see what needs to be moved around.

Texas's default schedule out of conference is:

Week 1 Rice
Week 2 BYU
Week 3 UCF
Week 4 open

Week 12 at Kansas State
Week 14 is open

If you want, you could move one of your earlier games to be a bye and have a game in Week 14.

Week 1 - FCS West - Replace with Boise State, TCU, - If these are not available replace with any ranked team, or BCS conference team.

Week 3 - Eastern Michigan - Replace with Boise State, TCU - If these are not available replace with any ranked team, or BCS conference team.

Week 14 - Toledo - Replace with Boise State, TCU - If these are not available, or already played in Week 1 and 3 replace with any ranked team, or BCS conference team.

I don't want Boise or TCU going undefeated.

I guess it will depend on the schedule. Ideally everyone would get a game in this weekend, and the new week would start on Monday/Tuesday morning at the latest. Then I could get two games in, and move my Week 14 open to Week 3, and likely only miss game 5. I hope the great firewall of China doesn't block the Dynasty website.

Good luck!

Incidentally, I just got a call today from Yale from my interview there. While the person who called couldn't offer me the job, she said to expect a call from HR this week.

Can we change our Week 1 game against FCS West to vs. Indiana? And our Week 3 game against Air Force to @ Northwestern?

Alternatives would be Pittsburgh, Colorado, California and Washington.

I removed WKU from Week 3 and added Central Michigan in Week 7. WKU wasn't available. Does that work?

I'll keep Rice in Week 1, as I'll be able to play that game. Then have a bye in weeks 2 and 3. If BYU or UCF is available Week 4, I'll take either or, same for Week 14. I really hope I'm back by Week 5, since I believe that is the Red River Shootout.

If neither BYU nor UCF is available for either of those games, let me know what my options are.

Week 14 vs BYU

UCF is not available in Week 4 or 14. How about North Texas, USF, or Vanderbilt in Week 4?

woot! Beat Rice, and in recruiting I got 5 insta-commits!

Had an awesome defensive play that is one of my video highlights. Rice was running an option play, and my defender snatched the pitch out of the air and ran it back untouched.

Spartans beat the Hoosiers, 31-10. Hoosiers jumped out to a 10-0 lead but then we woke up and scored 31 unanswered. Cousins was outstanding, going 20 for 26 for 302 yards and 2 scores.

In recruiting we landed 4 instant commits, all 3-star recruits.

USC beat Colorado State 49-13. But, we lost Marc Tyler for 8 weeks to a broken collarbone. Barkley was 21 of 32 for 296 yards and 4 TD's before being pulled early in the 3rd. True Freshman Terrance Mitchell threw a TD on his first pass of the game. Baxter with 101 yards on just 7 carries.

We landed a 5 star QB instant commit as our only one.

We had no problems with Eastern Michigan, as we beat them 56-0. Their offense never really came close to scoring. Five different guys scored for us, including three guys with 2 scores each. We won't know if our defense is better this season until we face some stronger competition.

Got insta-commits from a 4-star QB and a 4-star DE. Better start than last season...

I also reflexively did one user catch on defense that caused a tip and interception. 2 demerits for me. It was early in the game, and I was able to remember not to the rest of the game. Hard to ignore years of training...

I'll get my game in this afternoon.

We beat #9 TCU in week 1, 35-24. Kevin Newsome was solid at QB, much better than last year. He went 13-19 for 222 yards and a 1 touchdown. We spread the ball around well as 5 players caught those 13 passes, TE Andrew Szczerba led the way with 5 catches for 91 yards. Stephfon Green was terrific running the ball, 26 carries for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns.

This week we play #8 Alabama. I'm hoping our tough schedule will help us out in the BCS at the end of the year.

USC took Cal to the woodshed, 56-14. Barkley with a huge game before getting pulled late in the 3rd with a 42-14 lead. Our freshman QB had a few nice plays in the 4th. Our receiving corp is so very talented with Woods, Prater, and Butler all going over 100 yards receiving this week. We also got a few more instant commits this week.

Spartans beat up on Central Michigan 34-6. Cousins was extremely efficient going 11 of 12 for 2 touchdowns before being pulled midway through the 2nd quarter after we jumped out to a 24-0 lead. Boisture was 8 of 10 after taking Cousins place and we had 11 different players catch passes and 6 different players getting carries. Martin added a TD rushing and a TD receiving.

Our offense is clicking but our defense still has a lot of room for improvement.

A solid 34-21 win over #8 Alabama. A big 21 point second quarter is what put us over the top.

Came back from 24-0 down to win 34-31 on a Pryor 2 yard scramble with 0:16 to play.

Michigan handled Northwestern fairly easily, even though our passing game was really off today. Final score: 41-14.

Wisconsin struggled a little bit with #23 ranked Pitt. They broke a 93 yard run to score a TD. Then scooped a fumble and ran it back for a TD. Then we started scoring, but had a few drives stall. Later Pitt had another long run for a TD with a lot of broken tackeles. The Badgers were able to maintain control into the 4th quarter and ultimately go up by a score and then run the clock out for a 28 - 21 win.

Took a last second FG to beat Fresno St at home. Our team speed is even worse then last year which is hard to imagine. Gonna be tough/impossible to hang with USC, etc.

Also, should the CPU kickers be making 58 yd FG's with ease? Didn't check the guys ratings but damn.

The Spartans tried to beat themselves but were able to sneak out of Evanston with a 24-21 win on a FG with 1 second to play (video uploaded). Cousins had another great game, this time going 27 of 32 for 397 yards but he also had a fumble and an interception (both in the redzone). He also had a 60 yard TD called back due to a penalty. I'm really starting to get concerned about our running game, its been very poor.

We were able to get an instant commit from a 4-star MLB, Grant Meyers, from in-state.

We got our second shutout of the season against the Orangemen. They had a knack for turning it over. It's amazing how much more ballhawking my secondary has become since I stopped trying to switch over while the ball is in the air. Last season, we rarely ever forced turnovers. This season, we're getting 'em left and right.
