Woot! Got my first win against a human in NCAA 2011 in my game against Balldog's Michigan State squad. We took the opening kickoff for a TD, and then it was a battle for every yard for both sides. We got a go-ahead score in the 4th when our freshman RB Weddle ran one in from 8 yards out to make it 17-10, and then we were able to run out the clock after intercepting a Cousins pass. Glad we were finally able to beat somebody. Our defense bent a lot today, but only allowed the one TD, which was the key to us pulling the upset. GG, Balldog. Good luck the rest of the way.

GG! Weddle is a beast, hopefully we can get enough seasons in to see him develop. Our lack of a running game really hurt us today. Our offensive line just isn't as good this year and our defense just can't seem to make any plays. We only have 1 forced turnover all season. Before that intercept I was so close to either calling a timeout or calling an audible to a QB Draw because it was available but I didn't want to risk Cousins getting hurt and I still wanted to keep my timeouts in case something bad happened. Ooops

Luckily we still control our own destiny in the Big 10 since we have to play Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Penn State the final 3 weeks of the season.

Yep. You're still putting together a very nice season with a team that has less talent than most other human controlled teams in RFL.

It's funny. Toussaint's ratings are much better in some spots than Weddle's, including speed, but Weddle has done much better when given the ball. I finally decided to ignore the overall ratings before our game and move Weddle up to #2 on the depth chart. He fumbles at times, but has otherwise been pretty stellar for us.

Shaw was a beast in the Michigan / Wisconsin game. But the tandem of Shaw and Weddle was really tough. Michigan has a great corp of running backs. I was surprised to see such a run heavy scheme versus the spread you ran from last year Kodos.

Mike, I just wanted to forewarn you. I'm expecting an offer on my house tonight (YAY!!) and may have to pause the game for a few minutes to talk to Realtor. Hopefully, the offer will be here before 7 (central) though.

Tomorrow at 8 is out for me as I have an obligation to a friend. I can still do 8 tonight. Hopefully, Realtor will call in the next few minutes. I am expecting the offer very soon. Or I can do Saturday almost anytime if you prefer.

Just to be clear, we aren't allowed to do user catches on offense or defense in hum/hum games right?

I switched things up because, as it turns out, I am not very good at running the spread offense.

Had a very wild game at Texas Tech. A few picks and a fumble made it very close and exciting. Texas Tech managed to close within 3 with 25 seconds left and then recover an onside kick as my player had it bounce off his chest. 1 play covered 35 yards and I was suddenly afraid I was going down. But, the next play they threw it right at Devon Kennard who held onto it to secure the win, 38-35. Wild game with some huge numbers for both teams.

We had a close one against Iowa. It was one of those games where it felt like the cpu wanted us to lose. In the 4th, we fumbled it deep in our territory, and Iowa scooped it up and ran it in to take the lead. I really thought we were done. We managed to answer with a TD to go back on top, and a late missed field goal by the Hawkeyes that would have tied things up gave us the win. Whew!

I had a 7 point win over Mizzou. I started the game off with an 80+ yard TD run on the first play. They answered with a FG. It was somewhat back and forth until I scored on another run to make it 24-10. They got a TD in the third, and I essentially played not to lose after that. I dominated time of possession (18:00-10:00) as they ran a lot more hurry up than I did. I am trying to make an effort to establish the run, as it's something I need to get better at. Sometimes I'll notice when I play online I end up running less than ten times.

I also need to learn not to be an idiot and just kneel the ball. Against Wazzu I lined up to run "one last play" and I forgot what I was doing and snapped the ball early and turned the ball over on downs, leading to a scary real last play for them. Today I did one last play again, and while I snapped with time expiring, I also threw a pick. It was across the middle to a LB, so it wasn't a pick-six threat, but in any event, I need to watch myself.

Great game. You were excellent at ball control, as well as keeping my passing game in check. The game was a lot closer than the final score indicated, as two long runs late in the game sealed it for me.

Great game to you as well. Once I got behind I couldn't really run the ball like I wanted to. Then your Oline just dominated later on.

Not an excuse but my stupid puppy decided to take a piss on my couch in the 3rd quarter. I was scrambling to clean that up, toss him outside and call plays on defense...haha. What a disaster.

Good luck to you the rest of the way. 0-2 against the Horns and Aggies, fug.

Spartans rolled over Minnesota 45-3. Cousins only played 2 quarters after leaving with a back injury and Caper missed almost the entire game with a knee injury. We had 10 different receivers catch passes on the day and 4th string running back Nick Hill had 2 TDs, though the game gave him credit for 3 after he got robbed by the refs - we challenged and it still wasn't overturned. Our final 4 games are against Top 25 games, should be fun and we finally get Key-Mart back from injury.

Yikes, we missed a 37-yard field goal as time expired to send it to overtime 14-14. Illinois hit a FG from 39-yards, then we hit one from 41 in the first OT. In the second, we scored on a Cousins bootleg then held them them out of the end zone. Our redzone woes continue, going 3 of 6 with 2 INTs and the missed FG.

We still do not have an INT on defense through 8 games.

We did manage a ton of verbal commits - including a 4-star DB, 4-star QB, 4-star WR, and a 4-star OL plus 6 3-star recruits.

Had a strange game with Texas Tech. The game couldn't have started any worse for me. Tech got the opening kickoff and marched down the field for a TD. Then, on my first pass of the game, a Pick 6. But they miss the extra point. So less than a minute in, I'm down 13-0. However, I battle back and take the lead 14-13 just as the first quarter ends.

Tech gets another TD to take then lead, but then I start to pour it on. I score 35 unanswered, and Tech doesn't get anything the rest of the way, until a late TD with less than a minute left.

Our D dominated Nebraska, they couldn't do much but their QB was able to throw the ball about 70 yards in the air for a big play setting up their only offensive TD. Cousins struggled in the first half but calmed down and completed 15 of 20 in the second half, we win 24-14 in the snow.

Eeked out a 16-13 win over Kansas State in Manhattan. This is one of those games where I really love this incarnation of NCAA. The weather was atrocious, with heavy wind and snow. It definitely was a big factor in the game.

Balldog,

Sorry I had to drop before the half. I had a minor emergency. My wife has the flu and there was an issue with the dog downstairs. The wife doesn't understand that I can't just pause the game for 15 minutes to take care of something. Gotta keep domestic bliss in balance. I know you would have preferred to play the game out as I would have. Hopefully no hard feelings.

Bad day for me as far as fake footballl is concerned. Lost the IHOF Bowl today, then just lost in overtime to Notre Dame. One of those days where every big gain came back on a holding call, guys were fumbling.... Was lucky to get it to overtime, really.

I had a tough game with Texas Tech on the road. I got outgained by 100 yards, but I was able to win the turnover battle 4-0. I have a tendency to play fast and loose with the football, so to be turnover-free was great for me.

I got lucky that Texas Tech missed a PAT that would have made the game 28-27 Tech in the fourth quarter. I was able to be more patient with the tie and spread out the run and pass. Although I didn't have much luck running the ball, especially in the first half, I think a key to my success was having a greater run balance in the second half.

I finish up with Navy next week before a couple of bye weeks and bowl season.
