It was great when I got my opponent to miss a FG with it. The fun part was I wasn't trying to ice him, I was calling timeout so I had time to run a play or two if they made it.

#1. Unreal. I'm sure EF is itching to get back at me for beating him with the 2 point conversion instead of going to OT a couple of seasons back.

Indiana slams the door shut on a late BC rally with a long interception return for a TD to win 38-24 (a fairly controversial one, too--it sure looks like the ball might have hit the ground--the replay is on the website for those who might be curious). If my calculations are correct, I think we've punched our ticket to the Big East Championship game. As long as head-to-head is the first tiebreaker.

This week my receivers decided to catch the ball (in the rain no less) while the defense has continued to get better each week. UNC goes down 47-10. We finish 7-5, middle of the road, but should have a winnable bowl game. We really need the OT / DT recruits to sign to shore up both lines.

Some nice signings this week.. Now to try and finish the season stronger than we started.. A lot riding on this one, one of the main promises I use is the beat our rivals promise.

Took down Texas State while my 2nd string RB filled in at QB and had probably the best game of his college career. Dropped down 10-0 to start, but responded well with a couple good TD drives to make it 14-13 before the half, then cruised to a 31-19 final on the momentum of a strong 3rd quarter. We have a top 30 recruiting class right now, but I think we can nail down a top 20 if we can finish strong. Might even manage a full class, which would be a nice luxury.

Texas Tech was leading us 24-17 after getting a touchdown right before halftime. Ran off 35 straight in the 2nd half, and won 55-31. That caps off our perfect regular season!

Finally took Bowling Green to the woodshed. They led us 7-0 at the end of 1 and we rattled off a 31 point shut out in the 2nd qtr.

Stat of the game was the 8 INTs we picked up and 4 for our DB Townsend. We didn't get to the QB as much as we did in other games but we had his cage rattled.

7-4, 3rd overall in the conference leaves us in the MAC for another season. We had about 5 recruits in for the game and hope it bodes well for signings.

I finally get my first ranking in the national polls and I immediately have to square off against another ranked side -- NC State. They got out to an easy 21-7 lead. Their RB was quick enough to get to the outside against my below average defense, so I had to commit to stopping the run. Then they hit me with the pass. Just before halftime, I hit a long pass to close to 21-14.

They took the second half kickoff and proceeded to drive the ball right down my throat. They were 1st and goal at my 5 and I finally started to make a couple of plays on defense. State decided to go for it on 4th and goal inside the 2 and I shot the gap and got enough of the ball carrier to stop him short of the goal line.

What came next was nothing short of miraculous. I ate up the rest of the 3rd quarter on a 19-play drive starting from my own 1, culminating in a short pass for a touchdown to tie it up. The goal line stand -- and a long rest -- had given my defense a lot of confidence and I was able to stop plays that had been succeeding earlier in the game. After a 3-and-out by the Wolfpack I drove the ball right down the field and ran it in for the go ahead score. My defense stopped them again and I had the ball with about 4 minutes left.

I drove inside their 30, but back-to-back sacks left me with 4th and 20 and just outside of FG range. I stink at punting and my kicker didn't have the leg to make it. If I could get about 12-13 yards, it would be better than if I just kicked it out of the end zone, so I decided to go for it and try and hit an intermediate route. Probably a bad decision, but the way the AI seems to play, if I give it back to him anywhere with only a 1 TD lead, he is almost guaranteed to score and I'd be facing OT.

So I snap the ball and he blitzes one of the safeties, leaving the TE open on a skinny post route right down the middle of the field. I loft it up there. The other safety is closing fast, but it comes in right over the top and the TE holds onto the ball. The safety brings him down on the 2 yard line, and the game is essentially over. I should have taken a knee, but I am the same jerk that just went for it on 4th and forever, so I run it right up the gut and score to reach the final margin of victory: 35-21.

This leaves me in a tie with GA Tech at 7-2 in the conference for 1st place in our division and overall. I have no idea what the tiebreaker is, but I beat them on their home field last week. I have only one loss in the division, so at worst we have a tie there. Hopefully I'll be playing for Duke's first ACC Championship since 1989, when I was still in school there.

I'm confused if the week 14 deadline is tonight or not... If it is, I need another day or two to get my game in, please.

I'm not even going to describe my game....
Only that I lost by 7 after being down 35 with 6 minutes to go....I completed a three and out, then on 4th and 22 the ai punted to me....I fielded it and ran straight out of bounds at the 35 yard line with 51 seconds left...only the pr fumbled the ball as he stepped out of bounds with no one around.....I lost 38-31...

Washington State was surprisingly strong against us. They took out our mobile QB and we struggled a bit to make plays while their star WR had a punt return for a TD and 2 receiving TD's including one late. They made it a 31-28 game with 55 seconds left, but we recovered the onside attempt and finished off the game with a 31-28 win.

We are all set to advance.

After finishing my recruiting for the week, I took a look at the ACC standings. If they are accurate, the ACC championship game is between you and me. That should be a barnburner.

What did we decide about promotion? Do we have to win our division or the Championship game to go up?

So, not to happy with the game right now. It's sour grapes I know. But I just gave up a 42 point lead and lost 49-42. It's like the computer decided it was going to win regardless.

My guys were bouncing off his back up RB after we took their starter out. His DB's were jumping and making amazing INTs and when we were trying to tackle downfield my guys were going everywhere but to the ball carrier.

Anyways, thank god the season is over.

On promotion: the issue was tier 3, where there are two conferences above. There the division winners move up. For the ACC, we only have the SEC above, so the conference winner moves to the SEC East, while the Big 12 winner moves to the SEC West.

As for the ACC Championship, I gave up on that LONG ago, and stopped watching the standings. I can't believe 5-4 in conference is getting me in, but sure enough Clemson and Auburn are tied with me at 5-4, and I beat both of them. I'll have to work hard to gain revenge in the conference championship game, but yes it looks like I'll be playing in it.

To move up from the ACC, you have to win the conference championship game.

If I somehow pull off the upset, it would be a travesty for this particular team to end up in the SEC. But, we're getting our roster rebuilt, and should have our line problems fixed with this recruiting class (at least in a season or two), so I'll take it anyway...

Arrow Conference Championship Week - Deadline 8/3 (Sat) at 11 p.m.

A lot is on the line as we head into Conference Championship Week. There are opportunities to move up The Ladder, play for the BCS Championship... Good luck!

P.S. There's no recruiting this week.

I need to get on the ladder before I can climb it, I think, heh.

Chesapeake, I am available any evening between 8:30 and 10:00 PM Eastern to start a game. I might be able to squeak as late as 10:30, or some evenings as early as 7:00, but that will depend on the evening.

Ugh, instead of a neutral site, it's in Durham. Well, at least now if I pull off the upset, Chesapeake will only have the net connection to blame...
