A few games are on sale and you can use the coupon PAXEAST842 for $20 off a purchase of $39.95 or more. Some of the good deals with this are Bad Company 2 on PC for $19.95 and Dante's Inferno on PS3 for $23.99.

Thanks man! I was considering getting BC2, and this pushed me over the edge. I wish it had been on Steam like this, but I'll take it anyway.

Valkyria Chronicles PS3 Game $19 - Slickdeals.net

Well...took my $9 credit and went to the game crazy that's closing around here. Ended up getting the game for $13 so I ended up only being out 4 bucks. Still not sure about it but I'm going to give it a go.

It's not strictly turn based, it has a bit of real time mixed in, but so far I'm enjoying it. I'm not very far into the game yet though.

I've played the first mission and if the rest of the game is like that mission I'm going to end up being pleasantly surprised. It's a very different kind of game but I like it.

FWIW......I had the exact same reaction. I didn't buy the game until I could get it for around $30 because I didn't know if I'd like it. I saw you got it for $13. Amazing.

That's a pretty interesting description. To elaborate on this, during your "turn", the character you select goes into a real time mode in which you can move a certain distance and perform one action (throw a grenade, heal, shoot). All the while, certain enemies will have the ability to defend themselves by gunfire only (with the exception of snipers and lancers).

There's definitely a lot of strategy involved in the game and there are also some great RPG elements as well, with each member of the squad having their own strengths and weaknesses. You can develop your squad, get new recruits, enhance and modify your troops and your tank and go on a large number of side missions that actually end up enhancing the story.

And to top it all off, if you end up finishing the game, they have a more difficult mode that adds more skirmishes (special side missions) as well as grades you on your performance of each mission (which is based on how many turns it takes for you to complete it).

Yeah, the screenshots of the game don't do it enough justice. And $13 is a great deal. I ended up trading for the game using Goozex. In fact, I don't really purchase many console game anymore due to the fact that I can trade for them now.

Made it up to the 1st tank mission.

With the whole manga vibe, definitely different from the type of game I usually play.
Is the proper etiquette to have the language as English, or Japanese with subtitles?

Ditto. I'm at the same spot and enjoying it more the further I play it.

Damn. I missed grabbing the game for $20. However, I'm still tempted with the $29 price after applying the $20 discount code: PAXEAST842. Anyone know how long the code is good for?

Not sure about that discount code, but right now it is at the EA Store for $29.95:

The PAXEAST842 code can be used as long as your total is $39.95 so it can't be used for ME2 alone, but the DLC for Need For Speed: Undercover and Mass Effect: Pinnacle Station DLC would with the code would make the total $19.95. That's the only way I've seen to get to exactly $39.95, but anything over that will get you the coupon discount.

i can confirm i just ordered at the 2.99 price. one thing that i had to do to make it work though was create an account with my state spelled out, because when i went to pay without having an account with a saved address it kept refusing to recognize the dropdown-menu name of the state as actually being there. so create an account first and add your address there and it works fine.

I thought as much but I can't buy MLB2K10 from Australia. The annoying part is that I can't find anything on the site that says it is restricted to US residents only.

Would that still work? I seemed to be locked out due to my IP address. I click on Add to digital cart and then it takes me to the Shopping Cart which is empty. Even if someone bought it for me, would I still be able to access the download due to my IP address?

I tried some proxy sites but nothing seemed to work.

Anyone willing to do that for me? I'm happy to paypal the money to you.

for 2.99 it's probably worth the try. hopefully someone will want to buy it who hasn't yet, so if for some reason they can't get it to you they can just keep it for themself, ya know?

if nobody gets back to you at some point later today on Monday though, maybe i'll give it a shot for you....

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but GOG has Master of Orion 1 and 2 combined for $5.99. That is a ton of gaming goodness right there.

Surprisingly, I've never played this series before. What's the learning curve like on these games? Pretty easy to pick up and play?

MOO 1 was pretty much the prototype 4X game as I recall (along with Civ). I can't really answer the learning curve question as much since I played the hell out of both and can't really remember if it was hard to learn.

If you know how to play Civilization you shouldn't have much of a problem.

I'd be happy to answer any questions that come up as well. I still play MOO1 pretty regularly. Had lost my discs for MOO2 so that's why I snapped this sucker right up.

Wow... going thru the catalog of games at GOG is like taking a trip back thru my computer gaming experiences. I've never purchased from this site though. Do these "really" work in Windows Vista? Do you have to run them in some sort of backwards-compatible mode? If the answers to both questions are satisfactory, I think I have to buy a handful of these for old-times sake.

Don't have Vista but it's been fine for me in XP. The MOO games run under an optimized DosBox setting.

I've bought six or seven games from them and haven't had problems, but again no Vista so YMMV.

I would like to pick up Bayonetta, but that K-Mart website is so terrible that I can't even use it. It will load up, but it won't accept any of my searches or recognize that I have clicked on any links.

If anyone is looking for a cheap way into a game console, this is a pretty good offer. You can get a pre-owned Wii for $120, pre-owned PS3 for $188, and a pre-owned DS Lite for $68. Also, if you have an Edge card or sign up for one, you can get an additional 10% off those prices.

25% off Pre-Owned Games, Wii Console (pre-owned) $120, DS Lite (pre-owned) $68 - Slickdeals.net
