Site Issues - Anyone Else?

Guys, the last two days, I've experienced some issues with the FOFC website sending me to Malware type sites after replying to a thread.

Yesterday it was a "antivirus" site and today it was a birthday card site. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've emailed Ben, but it's probably best that others provide examples too if they have seeing the same problem.

The one from yesterday could have really fooled someone that wasn't paying attention to think their computer was actually infected.

Just got an email about this. No idea. Wondering if it's isolated or not. I've never seen it.

Yeah it was me, but I figured we could collect data if others are seeing it. Seems fishy, but I haven't been able to figure out the exact way it's happening... Let me see if i can locate the link I was sent to yesterday.

This came up a while ago (maybe 4-5 months ago) where a few people had this problem. As best we could tell at that time one of the advertisement banners that runs up top at this site had been infected (not FOFC itself that was infected) which was causing the malware type behavior.

I haven't seen anything myself back then or this time even, but I block any dangerous type of activity from sites, so I likely wouldn't see it. If this is occuring to you often, can you try to see which Ads it might be coming from? I am sure there is a process that board management can report back to get those ads removed or cleaned up.

The link forced to my browser yesterday was for a site called "MyPersonalScanner".

Yeah I'm going to try and do that, but it's difficult to figure out which ad, because it forwards the current tab right to the site, and if I hit back it prevents me to go back, and even if I do get back the ad has refreshed (apparently).

I've verified on the internets that other people are experiencing this problem on other sites.

happened to me this morning. i blamed it on the blog that somebody linked to in the soccer forum, because i was back-clicking from the blog back onto FOFC, but it could very well have been FOFC. I do believe it was the "mypseronal scanner" thing

Passing it along to the OS powers that be. If it's the ads, there's nothing I can do without their assistance.

Thanks Ben.

Just an FYI this site hxxp://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread475459/pg10

Appears to have located some of the ads, so maybe someone from OS can contact them and possibly find out what ads are causing the problem.

my favorite part of looking at that page was the person who said:

"Not for nothing, but can we unplug China? I'm getting really sick of their antics."

Just a reminder, if you are running noscript to protect against harmful malware attacks such as these, make sure to go into the options and disable IFRAMES That should protect you against stuff like this.

I had this the last time (like four or five months ago) and assumed my IE was infected so I did a ton of scans and found nothing but figured it was a better virus than my software. I did end up making the Firefox/ABP swap and I've had no problems since but am glad to hear that it isn't an issue somewhere in my machine.

I had the fake antivirus thing at home recently. I thought I had spyware of some kind, but seems like it could be FOFC.

Add me to the list of people who saw the AV redirect from here. Happened last night, guessing it was around 6:30 PM EST.

Happened to me on my work computer and my home computer. FOFC was open both times. Don't know what ads were open.

Got the same thing here earlier this morning. It appears it may be a broader OS thing. Someone commented after the OOTPX review that they had a similar problem upon opening that page.

I posted a thread here a week or two ago about Norton 360 catching a virus in one of the ads...
