I miss Marmel.

Nostalgia and lack of sleep make me sappy, but I miss him.

Is that ok to say publicly?

Looking back at the last days of Marmel, I think the board is in a much better place today. I'm not sure how it happened exactly, but I'm glad we don't have threads like that every month anymore.

That's weird you said that. I was thinking of him just earlier today too, wondering what he was up to.

INot only do I miss him on FOFC, but I really miss the JBL. Dr. Sak, Marm's wife randomly showing up during live sims, Carp vs. Tigers, everyone hating me, etc. I miss it all.

Schmidty I found some old clips that I use to use on the JBL Live. I actually sent them to Smolen over IM. We were laughing at how old they were and the fun we use to have with the JBL.

By the way I am still the champ in the JBL! Long live the Yakult Swallows!

His constant whining about the moderation got pretty old. I did enjoy double-crossing him in FOFC Survivor though.

His constant "threats" to leave the board were pretty annoying too. That's right up there with announced message board retirements in ridiculousness.

Yeah, I miss Marmel alot. Being the co-commish, we were always talking behind the scenes... the JBL is probably the most fun multi league of any sport in which I've ever been involved.

We used to talk about getting the JBL back together, but that kind of fizzled. I really wish we could somehow still do it. Soes anyone still have the final League file anymore, and if so, would it be convertible to OOTP8?

Hello Schmidty. I have been lurking the forum since I heard about the switch on the FOBL forums a week or so ago. Mostly the FOF strategy section since I have been playing solo again lately. (Shout out to, I think, RedKingGold for his draft combine thread over there by the way).

I don't ever recall threatening to leave the forum, I just said I was, and did. Yes, I bitched about the moderating here, but I think I only actually started 1 or 2 threads about it, at the most. It wasn't only the moderating, but at the time every thread just seemed to stray way off topic into an inside joke fest, which wasn't even very funny. It annoyed me to no end, I found myself visiting less and less, and whatever it was that set me off just made it like a good time to leave.

So these days, I follow the FOFL very closely, as well as post a little over there. I post a bit at the Straight Dope (under a different name). I post a bit over at the Syracuse sports message boards as well. You can find me most nights on City of Heroes (Protector Server), still, as well as my wife, but she doesn't play as much these days.

Oh, and we had our first kid on Sunday morning.

The JBL was easily the best online league ever created. I still feel bad I burned out on the commissioner job and the league folded. I'll have to search for some files, but I highly doubt I have any.

I was Sapparo before I had to quit because of divorce/life issues/etc way back when. I think Dang took over my powerhouse of a team from there!

Swaggs and I had some real epic battles in the playoffs. As much as I hated Schmidty's Tigers, I always felt the Stars were my biggest rivals.

Marmel! The JBL!

Good times were had by all. I do miss that league, and fighting it out with smolen and Shorty (and later ScottVib) in division every year. Plus, I always seemed to play Koji's Seibu squad when I managed to escape the division.

Good to hear from you, Marm, and I am happy to hear of the new addition. Hope to see you around more.

I was a little surprised the JBL disbanded. I don't know what the circumstances were, but it seemed like a strong league. If you guys were on v5, you can at the least convert through v6/6.5. I can't recall if 2007 can import from v5, but it should at least be able to do v6.

We were using 6.x at the time, so if someone had the last league file we could convert it to 8 and get it going at anytime.

Well, I found the file. The league is just sitting there with Yakult as the Champs and the Proceed to next season button just waiting to be pushed. The only problem is, I have no idea what the league password was. Shorty? Scott Vib? Anyone???

Sadly, Hiroshi doesn't show up on the list of players. His player number must have been re-used or some weird thing...so the file is not perfect, but it is usable if we could reset the password somehow.

Oh, and it appears 'Lucky' Lucien Burchard and Eddie Mac are still lovers.

Hiroshi should be wiped from the books anyway. Dirty 'roid freak. And trading Lucky was one of the toughest things I've ever done in an online league.

I would be really pumped if we could get any semblance of the old JBL going again. Hell, even my lazy ass would volunteer if no one else wanted to.

Forgot about Lucky. You're right, Schmidty, that was one tough negotiation. We never did get to the promised land with him, although we came close (didn't finally win it all until the second to last year).
