Certainly, but Ginn has got to go. There is no reason he should be out there. One long pass against the Jets doesn't excuse the total embarrassment he is at WR.

Dolphins should've checked the OVR rating drop before trying to switch him from an Athlete to WR.

Ted Ginn only looked reasonably good in when he was wearing the bunny ears or that ref shirt.

Doesn't Cam need a WR that will suit his offense in Baltimore? As a punt returner his value is even greater. Surely a hall-of-fame PR if there ever was one.

I'd condone a trade for Ted Ginn if it gave Michigan access to Glenville.

In context of the history of complaints on the Ginn pick, I find it funny no Brady Quinn on this list.

Luckily, the Dolphins cleverly traded away Wes Welker before drafting Ted Ginn. Nice move!

Second and seventh I believe.

Welker was like the one bright spot on our offense. And then they trade him away. To our arch rivals.

Well they didn't really trade him away. They gave him a shitty tender, anyone could have swept in and claimed him. The Pats did, they threw a 7th round and did a "legit" trade just to keep relations positive. But they could have offered a poison deal to welker and sent nothing but a 2nd. Miami had no choice.
Miami should have offered a higher tender, no clue in the least why they didn't. Couple hundred thousand more and its a 1st rounder right? Last edited by jeff061 : 10-26-2009 at 02:03 PM. |

The reaction at the time was, "what is New England thinking giving a second round pick for this guy?" Some interesting stats: Ginn's first two years: 1210 yards Anothy Gonzalez: 1240 Welker: 1121 (ignores his 2004 season, 14 gp, 0 receptions.)

I'm not sure this is at all accurate. Most NE fans I know saw how dangerous he was with Miami and were glad to have him. Also, he wasn't used in Miami nearly as much as Ginn has, so it makes sense that Ginn has outgained him.

I think that's revisionist history. A 2nd round pick for a guy who was a special teamer/4th WR is quite a lot.

Shurg. He played well against the Pats, I remember that. I also remember winning a couple of fantasy football leagues by drafting him in 07, so maybe it was more of a me thing than an everybody else thing. I certainly didn't see 100 receptions, but I knew he would be a great signing.
And looking here (Front Office Football Central - View Single Post - So The Superbowl is Over (Unofficial 2007 NFL Draft/Free Agency Thread)) it seems that most Pats fans are on board with the move, the only people who aren't were fans of other teams.

I wonder why the NFL does not do more "our guy with potential who has not worked out" for "your guy with potential who has not worked out" trades. Brady Quinn for Vince Young for example. Or Ginn for . . . I don't know, maybe Craig Davis? Is he even still in the league?
Point is, once you figure that a guy has demonstrated that he will not work in your system/for your coach/for your fans, he has very little value to you. Why not try and flip that into a 5% chance that you can turn around another team's problem with a change of scenery? Isn't that better than just letting him quietly leave as a FA in two years? |

As a Bills fan, I applaud the decision of the Miami "brain" trust to draft Ted Ginn.
As a ff team owner I have 3 Miami players on my roster, none named Ginn |

By the way...
(1) Fuck Ted Ginn (2) Isn't the ultimate punchline here that he isn't even a full time return man for the team? Good grief. |
