2017 NFL Week 1 Thread

We'll probably end up consolidating this into a mega, but let's be optimistic and hope for enough frequent discussion.

Things kick off tonight with the Chiefs visiting the Pats.

Expect to see a lot of teal in the crowd with Goodell in attendance:

Browns are snakebit already. Myles Garrett out for at least 2 weeks and now they threw Calvin Pryor off the team after a fight.

Is it me, or does Cowboys-Giants seem like it's on Sunday night every season?

They've played on Sunday Night every year since 2007 except 2010.

I'd take the logo on the right over the Tennessee Titans.

Also I see that a Chief player decided to protest the anthem, so I have to root for the Fing Patriots

So, is New England's defense this bad, or is Kansas City's offense this good?

Alex Smith with a near perfect QBR...

The Patriots made the playoffs in 79% of our simulations even if they lost this game. That's how bad the AFC East is.

Insert cliche about writing the Patriots off here... that being said I have no idea how you can possibly hold up as a defense with the level of pass rush we've seen tonight and the talent the Pats have in that area.

Losing Hightower hurts, but they were still well on the way to making Alex Smith look like Montana with him in there

Yup, shockingly awful...

Cant ever write the Pats off but losing Edelman showed on offense as Gronk couldnt get looks and that defense giving up huge plays to an ordinary offense. Even worse was that they played this poorly at home.

MBBF gonna make his return tonight???

Yeah, going to double down on things I'm going to regret in two months - but Gronk looks slooow

Yeah Berry is good and Brady didn't have a good game and the line didn't hold up long enough for him to get into the seams, but he just didn't look good. Seriously considering dumping him in fantasy (of course the one year I finally think he's value where he was going) and seeing if I can't recoup some value based on how he looked tonight

Sucks about Berry

Was Hunt that good, or the Pats' D that bad? Or a little of both?

Both!

He made a terrific catch catch on the pass(especially for a back) but was pretty much wide open. His running was very good but he had some gaping holes in the 2nd half as well.

He looks more than capable to be a very good NFL running back.

NFL suspends former New York Giants kicker Josh Brown for six more games

So I guess this is like the Olympic sports drug testing?

1. Get the case
2. Adjudicate the case
3. Put the case on shelf
4. Improve investigating down the road
5. Adjudicate the case again

Brown probably showed have gotten the six games at the start since that was the big policy announcement.

What this really looks like is the NFL going back to suspend Josh Brown an additional six days to creates some sort of "precedent" for the Zeke Elliot suspension. I mean, it looks like a very sloppy and transparent attempt, but given the timing...

I cannot stand the NFL as an organization.

I note what Bishop said. We've played this record before with a bad Pats loss to the Chiefs. Still 4 games against Jets/Bills. Still have their toughest opponents at home. Still seeing a 12 win season and a top AFC seed. Still hate the f'ing Patriots.

Nothing has changed.

As a guy on the radio said, the pats will fall apart this season and win 10 games.

Agreed. I'm just minutely, marginally happier today because I'm enjoying a good old Patriots loss. That's all.

Alright, who had Chickillo as the first TD scorer for PIT this year? You just made some big money.

Great start.

{Picard face-palm}

Bad news for Stafford/Palmer-both throw INTs. Good news Cards defense, they run theirs back for a TD.

Of PIT, CIN, CLE and BAL, only the Browns offense looks like it's out of preseason mode. The rest have looked awful.

Tom Savage not doing his part to bring some much needed hope to Houston And JJ Watt dislocated a finger near the half.

And now DeShaun Watson will get a chance...

And he already has the longest drive of the game 3/3 and a nice run
