This is an article from April where the director of his foundation was popped on the same charges. Figure the guy rolled on Jared or maybe they just uncovered a link between them.

Executive director of Jared Foundation arrested on child pornography, exploitation charges | Fox 59

Jared's quote at the time:

"I was shocked to learn of the disturbing allegations against Mr. Taylor. Effective immediately, the Jared Foundation is severing all ties with Mr. Taylor."

This is interesting, because based on the article (and others) the director of his foundation was arrested on child porn charges back in April. If Jared was some how connected to that, how couldn't have destroyed all possible evidence by this point? I'm sure it's harder than it seems, but you'd have to imagine he'd go through some pretty Herculean efforts to do so and has had 3-4 months.

I imagine the investigation alone is enough for Subway to cut ties with this guy forever and would mean the end of his foundation.

Apparently he was known as the guy who rented out porn when he went to Indiana.

I don't think child porn consumption is usually an group activity (at least with people you know, as opposed to trading things online), so I think this is a coincidence. Unless they got access to company computers through the last investigation and then caught Jared through that. There's just a lot of dudes watching child porn.

And even if they know the were being watched, some people still can't stop. It's like what Louis CK said about pedophilia in his last SNL monologue. "Considering the risks they're willing to take, molesting kids must be AMAZING!"

I didn't think they would be consuming (odd word!) child porn together, but maybe the director guy was producing it and Jared was watching it or distributing it or they were part of the same ring or whatever. I am not sure exactly how a pedophile ring works - nor do I care to - but they do seem to exist and involve multiple people.

The fact that they haven't charged him yet, and that they weren't seen lugging out a bunch of computers makes it possible that this is all about the investigation of the other guy. Usually they move pretty fast on these things and have their case before they go in. (Though, I don't know how they do things there specifically).

They must have had probable cause that there was evidence of a crime there, but the evidence didn't necessarily have to be child porn, and the suspected crime didn't necessarily have to be one committed by Fogle. Just throwing out possibilities.

Subway suspends ties with spokesman Fogle after raid at home

According to the above article they did remove electronics from his house. Now they'll send his stuff to computer forensics to see what they can recover.

All reasonable conclusions. I wouldn't expect they would let him stay free if they had any definitive evidence of his involvement in the same criminal activity. They would have got an arrest warrant with the search warrant.

On the flip side, if it's not an investigation into Fogle, and they haven't come out and said it's not, isn't he going to be able to sue the living shit out them? He's probably lost his subway deal and his reputation is in tatters based on the conjecture. I can't believe investigators are that blind to what the consequences of a highly publicized raid on a public figure would be in this situation without a "hey, he's not the guy we're after". But I admit I know absolutely nothing about the topic.

I don't know if this is used as leverage, but I wonder if he was previously not as cooperative as they would have liked, so they used the nuclear option. In order to get his name cleared, now he must play ball.

I could be getting into TV/movie plot territory with that, of course. I do not know much about the internals of these things. My experience with these sorts of matters extends only to the subpoena compliance work I've done in the past.

I doubt that he could sue them. I'm sure they obtained a warrant to search his home. That would likely give the police all the protection they need from any kind of lawsuit. They were just executing a search pursuant to a valid warrant.

I'm curious. When movie star is busted for child pron stoy hits the air...

Do most assume he got his jollies off watching 5-10 year olds or that he hooked up with a 17 year old with a fake ID and snapped some pics.

Are both as plausible?

I'm not stirring Im genuinely curious.

I have always had the "burn the sick fawkers at the stake" reaction. But I was talking to a friend about this and he seemed dismissive and suggested the latter.

Now Im wondering if he is onto something or if I should be worried about him ...

I think you just have to be careful and hold off judgement until more evidence comes out. Chris Anderson was suspended and kicked off the Nuggets for what people were saying at the time was harming a child. He was later exonerated of everything and it turned out his mistake was being a socially awkward geek who fell for an internet girl.

I could be 100% wrong here, but I think if they had anything on Jared, he wouldn't be walking free in the community.

He sounds less like an advocate of child porn than someone who's taken on some flavor of modern male victim syndrome, for whatever that's worth.

That said, "Jared from Subway with child porn" does seem like about as good as a litmus test as there can be for testing someone's convictions....it would be hard to think of someone less famous and/or less likely to evoke a passionate/emotion driven response, and a less sympathetic crime to pair him with. It seems worth questioning anybody who would immediately jump to the defensive.

Or they've known one person falsely accused. That'd likely be all it would take for that sort of reaction out of a pretty fair number of people I imagine.

Well, I can only speak for myself here, and really I do hope I am just an outlier, but the great majority of women I know have been the victim of some flavor/severity of sexual assault or harassment. I'd have to know a LOT of guys falsely accused of sexual misconduct before those scales would be close to even.

Not sure how we went from child porn to sexual harrassment (srsly, did I miss something somewhere, or misread something?) but ...

I was merely pointing out that there could be a perfectly simple explanation for why CU Tiger's friend/acquaintance, whatever reacted the why he did. It didn't seem like an automatic nefarious to me, it's far to simple to have a relatively innocent explanation to make that leap afaic.

Well, CU Tiger's friend's attitude seemed to suggest that Jared wasn't guilty of "real" child porn, and that he was likely guilty (or "victim") of something less severe. I didn't get the feeling that he was defending those falsely accused of child porn, so much as trying to position Jared as the victim of the hivemind of evil womenz and stud haters, which (at least slightly) demeans real victims of child porn as well as those "lesser" sexual crimes. I certainly can't deny it was a sloppy/stretchy point.....those are the only kind I've got.

To answer your questions, I would say that most people think he was watching 0-10 years olds. As has been discussed in the female molester thread, the gender/age combinations are key factors in how these types of situations are viewed by the general public. I don't know what the specific laws are but when I think of "child porn", I immediately go to preschool/elementary school age "children" before I give a thought to the "children" entering their senior years at the local high school.

EDIT: I forgot the second question. I guess it is plausible but I doubt it.

I get the image of young kids (up to 10/11/12 ish) based on the accused person's age and (un)likely access to create a relationship with say, a 17 yr old.

If this were a younger actor or something, say maybe 24 or so, I'd likely assume the young girlfriend thing. But given this guy is like upper 30s, and despite having a "child" obesity foundation where he could theoretically develop such a relationship, it doesn't conjure up the same likelihood in my mind as it would if he were a teacher, or a young man himself.

Of course, we don't know anything right now, but it would seem likely that if he had a young girlfriend, and somebody reported it, it would likely be her parents. In which case, I'd expect we would have heard statutory rape among the allegations or previously heard it reported.

OK, AT the risk of sounding like the defender of a sick bastard, the story makes little sense. Jared, a guy who just found unexpected fame and a guy who gets his jollies at looking at under age girls is going to mention out of th blue to a reporter that he thinks underage girls are hot. Taken at face value, that is absurd.

A close relative who is a child was recently molested by her father. He is in jail and I hope the dumbest stays there for a long, long time. I am not the guy to blindly defending guys like this. This story just doesn't add up for me right now. I really want to see what comes out of this.

Alls I know is that Subway is still better than that thin crap they serve a Blimpies.

Also, can we let this play out before we all become experts on this awful issue?

However, Blimpie constructed as a salad instead of a sandwich tends to trump Subway done in the same way. Not sure WHY that's the case but I've found it to be true.

You don't hear much about Quiznos anymore but they're still my favorite. But it's tough to avoid the Subways, there's 3 within a walk of my office.

We had a Quiznos in our town that closed twice (the second time forever) due to health violations. That's been my only exposure to "Toasty."

No we can't. This is an internet forum.

Potbelly is the best of the sandwich shops IMO.

Quiznos was great back in the day. They had better ingredients and toasted your sandwich which Subway didn't do. Then they got bigger and decided to fuck with the toasting process and downgrade the quality of their ingredients. At that point they were just a more expensive version of Subway.

Naming a sandwich place 'Potbelly' is like naming a strip club 'Blue Balls'. No one wants to be reminded of the likely outcome of visiting a place of business.
