Ladder - Keep difficulty settings?

I know we've discussed this before. Sorry to beat the dead horse a little more. Are people happy with the difficulty level, where everyone routinely goes undefeated against cpu teams? I don't remember the last time the cpu made me sweat out a game in the Ladder. If people are happy, that's fine. Just figured I would ask the question.

I've been playing with a set of sliders that make things a good deal harder that don't seem to be too unrealistic when it comes to passes just being way off target. I've had really good seasons with well established veteran QB's but struggled at times with young QB's who seem to get rattled easier.

That said, our teams are at a point in development where in reality they would probably win their games by 20-30 points routinely. The question is what to do to make that more the norm instead of these 100-13 blowouts. The only thing is its hard to account for players who run no huddle offenses all game long as opposed to huddle teams who probably run about 70% of the number of plays. I think it's inevitable that numbers are gonna be whacked out by quite a bit. One option might be to put all of us in the same division so we all have to play each other every season. I think that would increase the excitement level a bit while also bringing numbers closer to the realm of reality.

We've got options I guess, gotta see what the league thinks.

Another option I think would be fun is to make us all offensive coordinators so that we have no control over our defenses. Our defenses have gotten incredibly good too, which makes our offensive numbers skew quite a bit more than usual. That would also have the welcome side effect of making our cpu games shorter and I think it would be interesting for head to head games as well.

Just some ideas I have had.

Yeah, I've thought about putting us all in the same conference with a round-robin setup. The downsides I see are : 1. Slower-moving seasons; 2. I like how we currently tend to get human-vs-human championships resulting from a pseudo playoff.

The seasons would take longer I agree.. But damn it would be fun to battle it out. As much as I often dread human vs human match ups, I also enjoy them a ridiculous amount. It's the most fun I ever have playing video games.

Im the opposite.

If I am really honest with myself, I enjoy the recruiting and roster management aspect way more than the actual gameplay. And I despise human-v-human games.

Now partly that is because of my shitty internet and connection issues, and partly that is because of the self stress it causes me to try and schedule those games.

I love the league but at least in the foreseeable future, it would be difficult for me to schedule more human vs human games. My schedule is only getting to get more busy in 2 short months

Human vs human is out then. I still think OC only would be fun.

I think that's the bet solution to increasing difficulty a bit. Sometimes the D doesn't show up and things get fun.

How would that work in head-to-head games? (I've never tried it.) Do you watch when your team is on defense?

I think that's a no-go for me. If there's one thing this league has shown, it's that a computer-led defense can't do much to slow any of us down on offense.

Walter Spencer's stats this season:

Versus CPU teams (6 games)
228/297, 3311 yards, 49 throwing TDs, 5 interceptions; 81 carries, 727 yards, 16 rushing TDs

Per Game Averages:
38/49, 552 yards, 8.2 throwing TDs, .83 interceptions; 13.5 carries, 121 yards, 2.6 rushing TDs

Versus IU
6/14, 81 yards, 0 throwing TDs, 3 interceptions; 10 carries, 111 yards, 2 TDs

I don't think watching EF tear up my defense would be fun when I know I'm capable of slowing him down significantly.

As a side note, Julio, I would be happy to schedule IU vs. UTSA OOC every season if you're up for it. (Might help me figure you out a little better so the championship games go better for me.)

Sounds good to me, whatever works. I think making a limited defensive playbook and using that for the games would be something that could help if we went OC only. I mean, I don't control players on defense, ever. I've never been able to get used to strafing in NCAA or else I'd be lined up as the MLB every play. Otherwise I just get myself in trouble if I try to do anything. Its hard not to at times, but I've never made a play that mattered in a game on defense myself.

I always control a d-lineman. Sometimes I help, sometimes I hurt.
