Ahh OK. For some reason I was under the impression that she was in a band and he was just her husband. Not that it matters.

Nah. He's been the lesser "star" of the couple as a perforrming duet but was actually a fairly successful songwriter (including a #1 song for Blake Shelton "Some Beach") in Nashville prior to them become better known.

Sometimes things happen that really blow my mind...

I'm walking to work this morning, and I'm at an intersection waiting to cross the street. I look across and see someone who looks like this guy John, who I spent the first 9 months of my first job out of college working under. I haven't seen him in probably 5 years, and haven't thought of him since. The light turns, we both cross, and as we pass I realize it's not him.

About an hour ago I'm getting lunch across town, and take a guess who I run into?

Would it blow your mind to know that you've lived this day a thousand, maybe tens of thousands of times, and not just in this dimension. You simply recollected, on a very subliminal level, seeing him at lunch. Perhaps something simple you did earlier in the day jogged this buried memory. The way your eyes adjusted to a certain light, the impact of seeing a particular object, perhaps even the faint smell of something, it conjured up the idea that you've been here before. You may have been surprised to see him on 99 levels, but on at least 1, you knew it was coming. Love.

Man, I am really out of the loop when it comes to metal music these days. I just found out that Max and Igor Cavalera ended their feud and formed a new band, Cavalera Conspiracy, back in 2007.

The brothers founded Sepultura in the 80s, but had a falling out and Max left the band in the 90s. He went on to form Soulfly.

I was just wondering why Subway has the most god awful adverts on TV right now, then I remembered what happened to their regular pitchman. Oops. Guess they are scrambling for anything remotely non offensive they can put out there that doesn't make people think of that guy for the time being.

The place I used to work at provided financing to a lot of Subway franchisees, some of which had dozens of them. A lot of them struggled a ton during 2015, mostly because the breakfast rollout was a massive bust and the Fogel stuff didn't help. We were speaking with one of the largest operators about restructuring the debt and he told us that while he couldn't share specifics, they were expecting an ad campaign to roll out shortly after the New Year that Subway corp thought would completely revitalize business. When I saw what they came up with, I laughed a lot.

Timing in life is pretty much everything.

Had my son be a couple of years older & more savvy, instead of Angry Grandpa the world could have had Angry Balding Dad.

The fast food segments are similar enough to my everyday trips, it coulda worked.

Id say for the most part, if not almost always, that I do not agree with the FDA and their 'serving size'

Those individual pickle in a bag you get at a convenience store? Yeah, that's 2 servings. That tasty Marie Callander's pot pie in the freezer, go ahead and cook that in the oven for 55 minutes and only eat 1/2 of it, cause its 2 servings.
Once looked at a bottle of Kikkoman soy sauce and it read something like , I dunnno, 144 servings or some shit.

For the first time in what seems like FOREVER while stirring my chocolate milk I looked at the Hershey's label.

Whole normal bottle of chocolate syrup = 16 servings. That number seems on the low side cause I'm getting at least 24 outta that thing. Hmmm. I guess folks just be hardcore squeezing dat sizzurp.

I was watching them make bologna on Modern Marvels the other day. It was, frankly, disgusting. Which makes me wonder why someone there would have said "yeah, go ahead and bring your cameras in to show people exactly how we make this meat. I'm sure people seeing a big churning vat of pink chicken goo will raise our sales substantially"

Watching 80's porn irritates me, the girls are so good looking but the directing, music, dubbing etc ruins about 90% of the scenes.
Eddie the dog was not that great an actor.

I don't think I've ever mentioned this here but ... Krystal's fried apple pie is a darned good replacement for the long-gone to wimpiness McDonald's fried apple pie.

I get irrationally irritated when, in movies or TV shows, people are supposed to be drinking out of cups or cans and when they set them down you hear a hollow sound that let's you know it's empty. That seems like such an easy thing to eliminate in post production that it makes me want to punch somebody.

or they tilt the cup so far it's clear that there is no liquid involved (especially coffee, which is so hot you couldn't possibly turn the cup up as much as actors do and not scald the crap out of your mouth)...

Just saw a bicyclist crash full speed into a pedestrian... life really sucks for people sometimes. Nice sunny day... taking a walk on your lunch break... and wham. Bicyclist going the wrong way on a 1 way street takes you out. Both were to blame partially but I still felt awful for both.

I get annoyed with green beer bottles obviously filled with water. It would be so easy to just add carbonated water so that the illusion is not ruined.

+1.

But with folks like that you just have to take a deep breath and firmly apply Occams Razor.

Why did it take me months to replace the batteries on my directv remote instead of pressing down really hard every time on the 5 and 6 buttons to change the channels?

From a story about tornado season approaching (we're actually just coming off of 2" of snow yesterday and measurable snow expected several days this week).

Quote:
Tornado sirens are scheduled to go off for the drill. In the event of actual severe weather, the drill will be rescheduled for the next day.

This seems almost as stupid as the active construction ahead warnings on the highway, when invariably nothing is going on.

It was one of my favorite shows and I have it on DVD. We bust it out occasionally but I don't think it really holds up well. It's a tradition in our house to watch the Christmas episode though which makes me laugh every time.

The random 80s show I always wanted to revisit and have never been able to is Benson. Only the first two seasons were released on DVD, and I remember liking the later seasons more - though I haven't seen it since it ended its syndication run in the mid-to-late 80s.
