I really wish I had a different middle name, or that they'd stop abbreviating "Social Justice Warriors" as SJW.

I really don't have nearly the words for my current state over taking the child to college tomorrow/this weekend.

"Surreal" would be vastly preferable to the reality of it frankly. He's quite ready, I have no major worries about him with the situation. Us, on the other hand, well ...

(starts dawn'ish tomorrow, the sad parents not back home until sometime late Monday ... just for those keeping score)

Mine are 8 and 5.

The one who is 8 is a short decade from leaving.

The one who is 5 starts kindergarten.

My aunt and uncle who had 7 kids had it figured out. By the time the youngest leaves, the oldest is starting to produce grandkids.

I'll be completely:I almost didn't click on that, figuring that it couldn't add much to my already mentally prepared / emotionally unprepared state.

That's inspirational! Sad to think of kids who have these barriers to success. My middle son mentored and tutored a 6th grader last year who was really having some major distractions at home and was so far behind and not interested that he was really struggling. The boy ended up passing his spring classes and then took summer school in order to pass his grade. He wanted to do good, but those out of school factors really put him behind. When we talk about being privileged we're not talking about butlers and drivers and private school. We're talking about family support, minimal external pressures and safe, reliable transportation. So many families in our part of KY struggle and we live in a reliably middle class area. It's entirely different in the poorer areas in the east of the state, but the struggles are the same.

Fair point. Season 4 for me started the slowest but was the best by the end.

Up until about a week ago, for as long as it's been a thread, I thought the Strave/Runkeeper thread actually said Strava/Runekeeper thread and figured it was about some game I'd have no interest in.

I don't think I'll ever figure out how airlines decide on flight numbers. I was supposed to fly home from Tampa last night, but my first flight got delayed too much, and I would have missed my connection. The strange thing I noticed was that the flights from Tampa to Houston and Houston to Austin had the same flight number. But there was a plane change in Houston (from an Airbus to a Boeing). On the flights I was on today, the two flights had different flight numbers. But when I landed in Houston, I got right back on the same plane for the flight to Austin.

According to The Foundation for Aircraft Selection, airlines are bound by only two hard and fast rules when choosing flight identification numbers. Airlines cannot reuse the same flight number for flights departing from the same airport on the same day and flight identification numbers can have a maximum of four digits.

A plane might fly under the same flight number for the entire day even if it is flown multiple routes, but another plane that makes a stop in a hub or visits the same airport twice or more might have multiple flight numbers throughout the day.

That moment when you get an email notice out of the blue, requesting access to some six year old documents on Google Drive ... from the person that holds your personal record for "Most Hated Reviled Scorned Piece Of Sub-Human Excrement EVER".

And that moment when, having been prompted to look, you remove access to a half dozen files the demon in question was using less than two hours earlier.

Was informed by my wife the date and time we're having our daughter's birthday party so I can tell my family. It's going to be a joint birthday party with another girl in her class (uh). It's going to be on a Sunday (uh). That day is September 11th (uh).

At least its not the 20th anniversary of 9/11, on 15th.

September 12th. I'd prefer the 10th, but it is college football season and Clemson has a home game (Troy State), so the party would have been marginally less attended, maybe.

Eh... people don't necessarily attach the sense of foreboding to the date 9/11 anymore I've found.

That actually begs an interesting question.

Yeah, I'd probably remove the slimeball in question for the record of human existence even before Obie.

I used to deliver to nursing homes and they tend to stink. But in the summer they can be downright unbearable. Of course I'd forget this routinely and walking down the hallway I was always good to take in a mouthful of rancid shit air every few weeks.

Like if you've ever smelled spoiled shrimp, imagine that someone then ate that shrimp and immediately shit it out and filled up a diaper. And then sat in it for an hour or so. Good times.

So, all this time I thought the song 'Breathless' was sung by Shania Twain, not the Corrs. I'll be damned.

Didn't realize you were back out here!

That would be weird. I always trip when I see some place I know on TV that has no right to actually be on TV.

You know what Comcast could do to garner some goodwill? Be fucking transparent with your services. Let me add/remove them at will on your website.

I feel like I'm deciphering a code whenever I'm figuring out what I'm getting. There is nowhere on the website that is clear about what's included. Sales reps usually lie about what you're getting to close a deal. And if they are honest, they often don't know the details of your region (my rep didn't know about the data cap in Chicago, claimed it didn't exist).

I just want a simple website that says X costs $Y.

Our company is holding their annual charity pledge drive this week. They stated that if you increased our monthly donation a certain amount each month, you would get an extra 5 hours of personal time.

I did the math, and if I increased my pledge by the minimum amount to get the 5 extra hours, it would actually be more than what I make per hour anyway. I would essentially be paying out more than I earn just to have 5 hours off.
