We could additionally hedge our bets by having myself and RendeR tagged onto it. Then we can push the more central of their members that they should support a bill that appeals to our more liberal constituents.

I am not entirely sure how the popularity thing works, but I think a witness bill might harm you and Render's popularity, because of where you are on the spectrum. Maybe clap and Render? Render has enough popularity to take a hit if there is one, and clap lines up well spectrum wise and needs the popularity.

It's my understanding of it that our support of a bill (via vote or attachment) is a good thing for certainly any bill that falls within the Republican realm.

Clap needing the popularity though may be a good idea. I, and I don't mean this to sound self serving, would be a good idea to bolster if it remains our plan to make a play for henry's district to control things.

I agree with this. I didn't vote for either bill yesterday because I didn't have a real understanding of either by deadline and it didn't hurt my popularity. I think CR is taking Obama as an example of this since all he mostly voted in senate is "present" and look how popular he is.

I think its some of it. I think it also works as a multiplier for subsequent actions. So if you are a more corrupt pol, it will be harder for you to improve your popularity.

Do we have any evidence that slurrying PF will help with the Presidential election? If not, I say go after Henry again. That veto along with yesterday's slurry of him, he's got to be close to getting out.

"A Slurry power is the ability to throw money at a particular player to hurt their image within their own constituency and nationally, or to hurt the popularity of a bill."

So it seems that a slurry would hurt him nationally, and I'd assume that since it looks like I'm fairly aheah of PF based on the popularity rankings, that the dems will be throwing a couple slurry's in my direction. That's if my understanding of it is correct.

Ahhh, alright. I assumed with the national lean at 53-47 anyway that it wouldn't likely matter. Makes sense though.

I think Render, and only Render, should vote the bodyguard bill. All other elephants should abstain.

We do not. I think we are leaning towards a witness bill. I think the rule is that only one or two of us can introduce a bill, but I forget who that is.

I already put in my vote but with 66% of the country supporting yesterday's version, that's not a great move IMHO. The country is leaning 53-47 our way as it is and a 2/3's country majority supports the BG bill. I think you have to make them happy.

What about illinifan? He'll want to stay a little centrist to be President, right? And jeheinz might want to think about voting for it -- this will also help us get the bill passed, in case a Dem forgets to vote.

Yeah, I really think I'm ok though.

So what are the thoughts on maybe slurrying Henry instead of PF?

I say we should worry about the presidency first, then about trying to knock out henry. Having the presidency will put us in position to change things to go our way for the next four days, and that's a big deal. Getting an extra vote would be a big deal, too, but I don't think henry is as close to the edge as some of you seem to.

Anyone, ideas for small abilities for the witness?

I could see splitting our slurry between the two of them -- seems like we're in a good position for illini to win the Presidency.

I'm going to stay out of that discussion!

But I'd recommend emailing CR to ask what will work -- I asked him what he thought of a second seer, and am waiting for a reply on that.

BTW, we also need to remember that by knocking someone out of their seat there's a good chance that we'll be knocking out a villager.

I think winning the presidency will do our party as a whole more good for popularity than anything else right now. Although a 2-1 split would be an amicable compromise.

Okay, we'll see what happens, I want this bill out by around 3 or so.

Remember, we do need to lynch someone today -- we could just lynch Henry and try to take his seat that way, if we're already going to try to get him gone.

Let's play it safe and get the presidency. I think Henry is in enough trouble that it can certainly wait.

Yeah but what are the chances they're going to let us do that?

I honestly have no idea how we'll tackle lynching in this game

Well, so much for that idea. Let's hope they don't fire all 9 shots at one of us now. Or else we'll be forced to pick KWhit

Well...we should hold off as long as possible to vote, for sure. See if they, for some reason, go uncoordinated. Otherwise yes, we will be forced into a tie. My original plan was to wait for them to break and if they did just have all nine of us dump our votes on someone in a horribly partisan maneuver, but now I fear we're going to have that done to us.

I agree that waiting is a good idea. But I think we should discuss what we want to do it we unite -- one vote change won't be a huge deal for clap.

Won't that hurt your personal popularity even more though? I would say a full party endorsement is a strong start, especially with the majority of the country going Republican right now.

I had this thought...but I figured it can't hurt. Besides, clap would be the worst, and it's already been done, so we might as well pour on the little gasoline we have left.

Heads up on the Dems -- the bill they're proposing started out as a brothers bill, but now gives a random non-wolf the right to PM the seer once per day. I told Lathum I wasn't sure where on the political spectrum that would fall, and he said they would ask CR.
