I hope someone is putting together office staff for the investigation into whether Trump used campaign funds to pay the verdict. We all know that's coming.

Yeah I'm wait for the first fundraising letter to MAGA members begging for money to pay for this "unpatriotic" assault on him.

Good idea (and scary) but have to believe the names will somehow come out and/or someone will decide to tell the BTS story. I'd buy a weapon and get trained (if not already).

E. Jean Carroll: Jury finds Donald Trump sexually abused columnist in civil case, awards her $5 million | CNN Politics
Quote:
Judge Lewis Kaplan dismissed the jury after the verdict and informed them they are now allowed to identify themselves publicly if they choose. However, the judge suggested they remain silent.

“My advice to you is not to identify yourselves. Not now and not for a long time,” Kaplan said. “If you’re one who elects to speak to others and to identify yourselves to others, I direct you not to identify anyone else who sat on this jury. Each of you owes that to the other whatever you decided for yourself.”

The fact that a judge needs to give those instructions to a jury for a case involving the leader of a political party shows how dangerous that party is.

He made a post complaining this morning which made me think he knew this case was lost. From what I've read, her attorney really hammered home the Access Hollywood tape and Trump was a complete moron in his deposition. I would say it's shocking that he wasn't coached better but there is a good chance he just didn't listen to his lawyers when he riffed on it.

Sure some looked at it as he said/she said. But she also had people back her story up by saying she told them about it years ago. He said she wasn't his type and then proceeded to confuse her with his ex-wife. And he's on tape admitting to sexual assault in the past. If he wasn't a celebrity, I think most of the public would have assumed he was fucked.

Do they break down the $5M on the charges? Defamation is interesting.

I can see a ton of people wanting to sue Trump for defamation.

Don't have a breakdown but it was 2 million for the first charge they found him liable on

$2 million for the assault.
$1.7 million for reputational repair (defamation)
$1 million for other damages
$280k for punitive damages for acting recklessly

I'm sure it's just to give him an award for inventing the federal indictment and to be the first person to ever use it on Mars.

I honestly didn't expect this move, even though I probably should have. I mean Tucker will say anything that Musk pays him to say.

Tucker to Twitter is fascinating. On the face of it you’d think it’s not really where most of his hardcore viewers are, but it’s entirely possible his viewership is more tech savvy than I am imagining. If so it’s obviously a very interesting play for both sides given recent events.

For people who struggle to cope with a changing world, I'm guessing a huge portion of his geriatric fans would have some issues with going from watching him on a traditional cable channel to having to figure out and get comfortable with watching him on a social media website/app. Even if they already have a Twitter account, they typically don't use it for that kind of thing. Unless these are going to be 2-3 minute hits sprinkled throughout the day rather than a full "sit down and watch" show.

My parents used to be intimidated by facebook. Now they are on it all the time.

Once someone shows them "To get to Tucker, go here, and click here and then here" they will do it.

They won't be able, I expect, to browse Twitter. But that won't be the point. They will watch Tucker and his ads and make Twitter (I suspect) a lot of money.

I would love to see Katie Porter with her whiteboard or Swalwell with documents showing just how much money "Trump's Crime Family" made off his Presidency and are still making today,

One of the indictments is for unemployment insurance fraud during the pandemic. He is charged with that on the same day the House is voting on stiffer penalties for unemployment fraud during the pandemic. Whose a sponsor on the bill? George Santos.

Yeah and on the same day James Comer had a press conference where he still had no actual evidence of the "Biden Crime Family" and their financial "fraud"

The GOP smoking guns have been weak for the amount of oxygen they are receiving these past few years. I'm still waiting for Rudy and My Pillow Guy to prove election fraud.

Hunter Biden is a man in his mid-50s. I am 10000% positive his last name has helped him get into colleges, get jobs, secure loans, etc., but what is he supposed to do for a living that guarantees that his ties do not impact his work?

I actually like Joe Biden quite a bit (I like where he sits on the political spectrum and agree with his stance on more policies than most other candidates we have had in my lifetime, at least), but if they can prove that Hunter is getting favored treatment for government contracts or that he is selling access to Joe, let's see it and let them face the appropriate consequences.

It astounds me when I think about the presidents since Reagan. All of the GOP presidents have been from wealthy, affluent families that had generational wealth, while Clinton, Obama, and Biden have all come from working class families and made their way to higher stations in life, but seem to always have to face questions about how they have made their lives (and their family's lives) better. Like there is resentment when someone actually makes good on the "American Dream."

The witch hunt stuff is hilarious considering the only reason anyone knows this guy's name is all the fraud and lies that came out well before the indictments. Trump was always a sleazy guy but had far better PR and decades of name recognition before he went the witch hunt route.

I don't think it's happened in the US before (?) but wonder what would happen if a President or VP got divorced in the middle of their term assuming nothing too egregious but more of a "mutually grown apart".

Quote:
"We have filed for divorce together. We are grateful for 19 years together and for our beloved daughter," the PM wrote.

The couple say they remain the best of friends, and will "continue to spend time together as a family and with each other."

Marin and Räikkönen were married in August 2020, and have a 5-year-old daughter together. The wedding, at the PM's official residence in Helsinki, came as a surprise during a COVID lockdown respite in Finland.

However her private life hit the headlines in late summer 2022 when video of Marin dancing closely with a Finnish musician went viral. At one point he appears to lean down and kiss her neck, but Marin dismissed the incident, saying that she had done nothing inappropriate.

The CNN town hall is basically a Trump rally, as CNN tries to become Fox News 2.

Does this mean they're not fake news now? I'm so confused.
