Which Is It?
I've always heard it (and sang it) as, The One That Makes Me Scream Sea Sick. But tonight it occurred to me that it may very well be, The One That Makes Me Scream, She Said.
Mainly because of the next line, but also because, after 30 years I realized that Sea Sick really doesn't make a lot of sense. And yes, I know I could look it up, but discourse and all that. So which is it? |

The mind wants to rhyme the second line with "trick", but when you listen, the /d/ sound is pretty clear at the end of "she said".
More importantly, upon going back to listen, holy cow! I never noticed that the intro before the first verse is 50 seconds long. That's a quarter of the song up front. While it's not necessarily uncommon to have a long introduction, 'Just Like Heaven' would never have come to mind if I were putting together a playlist. |

I thought it was sea sick until a couple of years ago. And realized how stupid it would be for her to scream "Sea Sick!"

There was a time when I thought that the line "I'm burnin', burnin', I got the fever, I know for sure, there ain't no cure" was "Now girl in Berlin, I got the fever...".

Who was the morning radio show in the 90s that used to do the misheard lyrics bit?
Maybe Bob and Tom or John Boy and Billy... To this day my wife and I will still get a chuckle out of "There's a bathroom on the right" (badmoon on the rise) or "Ive got two chickens to paralyze, pack a bag of leaves tonight" |

It was John Boy and Billy. I still can't hear that Eddie Money song without thinking "pack a bag of leaves tonight". They also did the Christmas edition of it, so I can't hear Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire without hearing "he's loading lots of poisoned goodies on his sleigh".

I used to think "Our Lips Are Sealed" was saying, "Honest, I see you."
But, growing up a huge Cure fan, I have never, EVER, thought it was anything but "she said".

I only realized on Saturday morning that Nelly has a friend with a pole in the basement, and not a hole in the basement. Which makes a lot more sense in the context of the song.

It's an unexplainable reasoning. When I was a teenager and first heard it, my initial reaction, as I recall, was, She's screaming out like she's sea sick, woozy, dizzy. It made perfect sense at the time, and it never wavered. I love the hits, but I own no Cure albums, so whenever I would hear it, it would just be what I thought it was. I'm sure a time or two I'd think about it for a moment and question it, but then move on. Recently however I've been hearing it a lot and I figure it was time to figure things out for certain. |

LOL, I thought that was "I honestly feel it" the first few times. But this is "she said" (Though I get the sea sick Jedi mind trick) |

I hear it like that every, single, time, but then I think that's just my fucked up mind too.
