The Hattrick Epidemic
I would just like to know who is the monkey who started this virus known as Hattrick. This one well made game. Personally Hattrick has me sucked in I am thinking about becoming a supporter sometime in the future. I am a huge fan of european soccer fan and now I get to test my soccer knowledge on this well made game. Everyone should go play this game its pretty damn good.

Really? Where did you hear that? I haven't heard that....I did hear that about HAM, though, and I'm hoping that's what you're talking about.

I haven't heard a whisper about charging for Hattrick, either. As mentioned above, HAM has become shareware, and that has caused a rather large stir in the community.
I'd like maybe one more game a week, or something else in between. As it is, I just turn the thing on, and look at it. I go from screen to screen, not necessarly looking at anything, just needing to look. |

It wasnt me. I just remember someone posting about it so I signed up. I think ardent and I signed up at the same time. But it is amazing how many people are playing it now. Sometime around October we had like 12 people on the list and now its massive and the fed thing is up to 17 members now when before we scrapped to get the mininum of 6.

Ahem, let me shed light on the subject. If my memory does not fail me...the one who got both Illini and myself started...is no other than NYFAN with a "hattrick.org?" post. I looked at it, thought, wow, a lot of people signed up for this...and signed up as well. Most of the original people who signed up dropped out...but a few of us...Illini, myself, Horned are still around. I don't remember if DK was part of the group.
However, I do feel responsible for the spread. I apologize to everyone. Wait, that's not right. I don't apologize. You will all have to suffer. Sorry, it's not my idea. Hattrick told me so.

Good memory. I KNEW we kept you around for a reason.
If I'm not mistaken, bbor and myself joined in the first wave as well. He's a game fiend and I'm, well, nosy. [We were suffering withdrawal symptoms from CSMB at the time, I believe.] |

I was previously kept around to help "even the odds" for the odd team in trivia bouts. However, I have since switched teams, and abstain from all sport trivia contests so that everyone else has a chance. I was just dominating and it was embarassing.
I felt like a Wig for a while. =-)

bbors, I fell ya man. My team sucks too. At least I am out of debt though. I have a felling in 2007 when HFP's team gets good, we might make a serious run at second place.

Woohoo, my first game as manager, and win 4-2. I'm so shocked I won, I didn't know it'd be this easy.

I was up 3-0 in my friendly only to lose 3-4 (must be poor stamina).
Then again i was playing my scrubs ... or at least what I think were my scrubs. |

Story of my hattrick career:
Horned seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Horned appeared unsure on how to play.

In the FOFC Consolation Round which just finished tonight, I won 3-2 in PKs. We were tied 1-1 for the full time and after an OT period, so we went into kicks and I won 3-2. A very exciting match to say the least!

Well, I signed up for a team. I guess I have to wait a few days before they actually give it to me though. We'll see then whether or not I get sucked in...

Haha GM-George's scrubs could beat all of our teams combined 11 against 390.

Just surprised I got a goal in. Everyone was playing defensive! Imagine if I put my run and shoot out there. I may have got two goals, but I would have allowed three touchdowns!

My worst beating was against Isonet Toronto 7-0. I traveled there and made 18 cents in exchange-rate.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to accepting a friendly overseas? I just was offered a match in England (seems like since I'm in last place of the lowest series, I get a lot of offers to boot teams' morale).
Just wondering if the midweek travel overseas tires my players out, or if I potentially could make more $$ off the match. |

The big disadvantage is the $6000 travel fee you have to pay to play an away international friendly. This probably means that you'd lose money unless they drew LOTS of fans.
The advantage is that your players earn double experience, but it's still 5 times less than what they'd earn playing in a league match.

Ouch. The 6k sounds like a rough deal (especially when no one in their right mind would come see my misfits play).
One more quick question, what is the impact of firing a player? Or bascially, if I can't get anyone to bite on the transfer wire, is there a reason why I shouldn't fire the player to avoid the wage hit? |

Was it 6k for traveling? I thought it was less than that. At any rate, if you get a team that draws well for friendlies, it's not that bad. I was pulling in about 6 to 8k for international friendlies...I thought that was covering the trip cost...maybe I was wrong!

From the rules:
Quote:
About firing: I know immediately firing a youth pull has no adverse effects. If you fire an established player, there may or may not be a small spirit decrease.
