The End of Al Sharpton (on TV at least)?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/m...k-owned-media/

If the lawsuit turns out to be legit, I see no way Sharpton stays on MSNBC.

They already announced he lost his show on MSNBC earlier this week.

Thank you Neuqua-had not seen this!

Not sad in the least to see Sharpton go. Too bad they are going to do away with many of their pro-left commentators and stance though other than Rachel Maddow. Now if Fox did the same thing to their pro-right commentators and stance, we might approach to something close to "fair and balanced" news stations.

You just know Fox is having a big party over this though.

Given Sharpton's ratings, especially in the demo, Fox is probably sad. It would be more like telling the Harlem Globetrotters that the Washington Generals were being replaced. They're probably confident they can take the replacement easily, but you never know.

One day, we can hope that "news" channels like Fox and MSNBC go away entirely. But that day isn't here yet. MSNBC has to move a little to the right (Maddow's not going anywhere) because people aren't watching.

What I don't understand is how anyone can watch any of it. Even if it's an issue where I agree, the commercial to content ratio is painfully high, and the format where people scream over each other is very stressful. Maybe people who watch this stuff need the commercial breaks to take their blood pressure medication.

I feel that way about TV in general, don't understand how anyone can tolerate all those commercials. I would say the same thing about web sites but there's very few places I go to anymore. Now if I can only block the ads on YouTube....

I just don't think a left-leaning TV network will work. Fox is built around a solid group of people that stay at home and watch TV, the younger, more urban demo that a left leaning TV network is after is a lot smaller.

I'd be happy with a CNN that actually was a 24 hour international news channel and a CNBC that just ran market prices. I'm with Jim, the constant screaming over trivial issues just wears me out.

I really wish that they'd show CNN International in the US. It is so much better (IMHO) than the US edition of CNN.

For the web yes, for a TV channel no.

Couldn't agree more. Any semblance of any discourse whatsoever is completely nonexistent. It's just cringeworthy to watch.
