WW CXXVII: Fight for the Cosmic Cube (GAME OVER see post #909)
Background:
What was once thought gone forever, has now returned: The Cosmic Cube! The cube holds incredible power, it would be wise to familiar yourself quick with: Cosmic Cube - Marvel Universe Wiki: The definitive online source for Marvel super hero bios. It is certainly not needed to have a strong grasp on the Cube or it's history but may enhance your enjoyment of the game to at least have a little background information. As good and evil fight over the cube, questions remain... Who will control the cube? Who made the cube? What powers does it grant? Some have said the cube allows for any desire the holder has, are there consequences for using the cube??? Factions: Players: 12+ Good: Marvel heroes Evil: Marvel Villains You can not select your character, you will be given one. You will be either good or bad. You may or may not have PM abilities with some or all characters. Please include myself on all PMs Each side starts with the same number of players. You may or may not know other team members. There are some rules that govern the game that are hidden from view. Win Conditions: One side wins when the other is eliminated. Characters: You are a marvel universe hero/villain from a predetermined list of characters. Powers: Common werewolf roles will be in the game. These may change as the game progresses/ Deadlines: Day ends at 9PM EST Night ends at 4AM EST As I work early in the morning, night results will be posted before I leave for work in the morning. Weekend deadlines will be determined by the players. Day Cycle: If you have abilities you can use during the day, you may use them. Please be aware that as I work mon-fri approx. 6am-3pm (6pm on fridays) I may not be able to process actions immediately upon PM. Lynch (End of Day Cycle): Each participant needs to submit a vote for lynch. Ties will be resolved with the earliest vote. Night Cycle: If you have a night power, you can use it now. Order of Night Actions: 1. Defense actions 2. Research actions 3. Attack actions Additional Game Notes: 1. No editing posts 2. Character powers will take precedence over any rules posted in this thread. The rules here are meant to apply to the majority, but in some cases may not apply to a small minority 3. Conditional orders are allowed. You may also send in orders early, up to 1 phase. In other words, you could send in night actions now but can not send in day 2 actions now; you'd have to wait til night 1 started. Last edited by Chubby : 09-02-2011 at 09:09 PM. |

I am not sure exactly how things are going to work in this game as their is an equal number of good and bad guys. I am guessing both sides will have day and night abilities.

So what would typically be considered the common werewolf roles?
BG, seer, duke for villager and brutal and cunning for wolf? |

Considering the number of wolves, I would guess that many of the wolves don't know each other. This can be done either by small groups of wolves or one primary group and a bunch of individual wolves. Further, I would expect things to be kept close to the theme of Marvel and lone hero / evil types to be on their own and teams of people to perhaps know one another.

Wow, just got on the computer and found out a new game is started ... and I'm in it!
I'm all for this, by the way. I'll go read the rules and see what's up. |

Wow, equal number sides! This is going to be a very different kind of game. I tend to agree with Danny, there must be a limit of some sort on how much the bad guys know each other. Maybe none of them know each other. Should make for some interesting voting.
I just drank a bunch of wine before sitting down so I won't try to do much more heavy thinking, I'll be back in the morning. |

From the rules
You may or may not have PM abilities with some or all characters. I would imagine there might be someone on either side who knows everyones character that is good/bad? |

I find it hard to believe there will be someone who knows everyone who is good or bad. As someone else mentioned ...perhaps some team of folks know each others. but I wouldnt assume many know much this early. Perhaps there are still teams that will form. I can see certain folks looking for others in ther group like a mini seer (inhis group outta his group.) |

I already have this Horadric Cube and a Companion Cube and now I have to fight you guys for another kind?
Being new to this type of game with equal numbers I'm not sure if I should tell everyone I'm a vanilla good guy or bad guy... How about everyone just pretend I'm on their side, okay? |

Oh look! A game. Wasn't expecting that. I'm not sure everyone is going to be turning up for this one. Does everyone know it was going to go off?
So basically this is like the Chess game (sorry to harp on) but without the wolves? So voting records are going to be pretty meaningless and, erm, gut reads aren't going to be much use either. So what are we supposed to base our votes on? Given that there's 15 players and the sides are meant to be even can we assume that there's a neutral role in the game? |

Vote mckerney
Presuming that there's a neutral in the game (I don't see how the rules can be correct otherwise then my maths tells me that there's a more than 50% chance of him being an enemy. Very good odds for a game of werewolf. And a game where Jackal can't be a wolf. Doesn't that cause a rift in the space/time continuum? |

I will try to answer any questions via PM when I run my daily errands for work. If you do have a question, please put "Question" in the subject line of the PM so it stands out as I only have a limited amount of time to do my errands. I usually do those around 10-11EST tho some days I can't do them until I leave work. Just a heads up to everyone

a bright light flashes and blinds you. When your vision returns you feel slightly different as if something has changed. Has someone used the cube? If so, who and for what ends?

With even teams, everyone's going to be looking to assess what side everybody is on, and once we can figure that out it becomes a brute battle. In this sort of setup nobody wants to get lynched, more so than usual, which makes things hard. I wonder, if the setup wasn't good vs evil, would we have people from the other faction just outing themselves? We're so used to the bad guys hiding, but it doesn't seem they need to this game.
I'll go look at the player list and find some sucker to vote for. |

Mr. Bug is on my list of people who made it to the end last game. He's also on a list of people who tend to be quiet early, so makes good day 1 vote material. And because I'm not afraid to be a second voter:

Good morning everyone.
This seems like it is going to be a tougher game to really get a grasp on since it doesn't matter if you are good or evil too much at the beginning since it seems like everyone is going to be guessing other then those who have some sort of PM rights. |

Yes, Autumn has it and it has been suggested by others. We may have some traditional WW roles, but this is not a traditional game. We're going to have to approach this one differently.
My guess is that we need to break from our usual mold of thinking of villagers and wolves, good guys and bad guys. Despite the titles Chubby provides for each side, this is like Team A and Team B, further labeled by the heroes therein being based on either good Marvel characters or evil ones. We should all be working to gather information on one another, discovering everyone's powers and contacting our "side" somehow. I'm not afraid to say that I do not currently have any powers, nor am I able to PM anyone. So it's like I am a vanilla villager. I'll keep my actual hero name to myself, though.

Usual day 1 vote for very little reason, no point in putting a third on Bug and picked someone I remember going pretty far in the last couple games |

It's going to be fun seeing everyone who claims to be a hero day one turn around with, "Uh, yeah. I'm actually a bad guy," if we happen to lynch heroes on the first couple days. |
