Cool little story about Troy Polamalu
azcentral.com blogs - Dan Bickley - DanBickley - Playing pick-up with a legend
Its always nice to hear of guys like this, who seem to actually be humble and care about giving back even when no one is watching.

Two other Polamalu stories, one of which I was able to find the original-
The Almanac.net The second I couldn't find, but remember reading within that last 3-4 years. He was out grabbing dinner, I think it was a Buffalo Wild Wings. A group of HS kids holding their fantasy football draft that night. He went over, talked to them a little, then left. Later, when the kids went to pay the bill, the waitress tells them it was already paid...by that guy who was talking to them earlier.

That is a great story.
I did find one odd thing about the story. (Polamalu is very classy in this story and it is not about him) The dad said that it took him 30 minutes to figure out that his 10-year old son was outside playing football with Polamalu. How is this possible? |

I love Troy. Fuckin Madden curse was possibly the difference between a deep playoff run, and what actually happened.

I'd likely go and read these stories if I could just get my mind off of his beautiful, beautiful hair.

Troy is awesome and it's great to hear stories like this. I use head and shoulders because of him.........................even though I shave my head.
FWIW Dan Bickley, the guy that wrote this is also a real nice guy (have met him twice) and it seems he goes out of his way to find these good stories. It's nice to have a local guy here that isn;t just all about the "ratings grabbers" |

Not Troy, but a nice story nonetheless (as related on PMS the other day).
You might have heard about two kids at Reggie Bush's HS alma mater winning $10K scholarships from Bush, but Bush reneged on paying most of the money, claiming "the economy" or some such stupid stuff made the money unavailable. Comedian/show host George Lopez heard about this and leaped to the rescue, writing out a check for the remaining money to each kid. And he wouldn't comment about it publically (this came from the kids' families), because he didn't feel it was about him.
