2015 NFL Week 3

This week's slate of games kinda sucks.

And the hits keep on coming to the NFC East:

Jason Witten of Dallas Cowboys uncertain to play against Atlanta Falcons

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13...-new-york-jets

Brees might be able to play though:

Weeden will become a folk hero in Dallas, if he manages to keep the Cowboys in the race until Romo comes back.

As a certified Cowboy hater, I feel bad for Romo. Lady luck always spits on him.

I've always liked Tony Romo. He seems like a good dude.

I think the Cowboys still have a shot. They are 2-0 with two divisional wins. The Giants are Eagles are both 0-2 and Washington is 1-1. If Weeden can just go .500, they should still be in pretty good shape. Given how well the Dallas D has played with Sean Lee back, they have a shot.

I've watched the Colts be kind of punchless these last two weeks and I'm kind of hoping the Titans can give them a game. If we pull a win off here and the Colts really are as bad as they've looked, I'm thinking it's plausible we see a 7-9 AFC South champ.

The Cowboys have now traded for Matt Cassel, apparently for a late round pick in '17. This offense will be unstoppable now!

I guess he's not a bad backup to Weeden, cause I know the guys we had as the 3rd qbs were not close to ready and probably never will be.

Wasn't sure if this should go here, or the Stupidity thread, but the Eagles are claiming the Cowboys were calling out the Eagles plays as they lined up.

(I think it's more stupid to be in the situation where if the opposing team is reading your signals, you don't change your system.. then to publicly announce you know your opponent's plays)

This is something I really don't care about. If someone can figure out what you're doing to that degree, then you get what you deserve... to be blown out.

Announcing that you know the play the other team running actually seems like a pretty good idea. It's definitely going to dishearten the offense.

Still seems odd, like Kelly is looking for someone to blame beyond himself. Do the Eagles only have one play attached to each formation? It also seems like teams would have a contingency plan in place for such an event.

They probably have one play they run in specific situations out of that formation, but that's when good teams have an unexpected play they can run on the defense. I saw the Steelers do it against the 49ers a few times on Monday - run the same play on the same possession multiple times, then fake the same play and run a screen or something slightly different from it instead... Nothing too amazing there, just decent playcalling...

Yeah, but it was easy for the Steelers on Monday cause the 49ers were already back in San Fransisco.

That's the thing. The Cowboys don't have a chance until you look at the other teams in the division. I would think 9-7 or 8-8 will win the division, so with two wins already they only need six or seven more. If Romo misses eight games and comes back with a 4-2 record, Weeden only has to win two or three games. If Weeden somehow goes 4-4, they'll be almost guaranteed to win the NFC East.

Want to see Eagles/Jets and Bears/Seahawks but only because I want both birds to get their first win and turn their seasons around.

The Manzel start and Mariota at home add a bit of story to those games but not really anything other than that. Redskins/Giants only because it's in the division. Cowboys/Falcons only to cheer for the Falcons.

Other than that I can't see a game on that schedule that would make me miss something else to turn it on.

That Bengals Ravens game should be a hell of a battle. Ravens with their backs against the wall early in a rivalry game at home against the division leaders.. The Bengals need to prove something and win this one.

Amazing how many "good" teams are fighting for their life this week. Baltimore, Seattle, Indianapolis, Detroit, New Orleans, Philadelphia and NYG are all 0-2. If they go to 0-3 they're all but dead. Only five teams have ever reached the playoffs after an 0-3 start.

We all know how this usually turns out.

Dalton can take a huge step forward if he can beat Baltimore this weekend.

It is situations like this that make me wonder if he would be a good fit at USC or not.

I think at this point they just like McCown better and with the off-season Manziel has had, give him more time to learn the position by watching McCown and opposing offenses.

I am in a pick em league (straight up winners, no spread).

I see that the game tonight has 86% of the people picking NYG.

What am I missing? To me, this game is a toss up. Are we that sure that Washington is that bad? Are we that sure that the Giants might not be that bad?

Is this just a case of a lot of people having the Giants as slight favorites? Or am I just under-rating them?

Yeah, I'm a bit intrigued by this one. Giants should very well be 2-0, though I'm not really sure they're any good. Expected the Skins to be awful, not sure if last week was more the Rams laying an egg or WAS maybe showing a pulse (or course one game and all of a sudden there's talk of tagging Cousins). I want to say NYG should win this one, but who the heck knows.

Probably people just picked this game based on the QBs involved.

The Giants may want to stop knocking each other out of the game.
