The Ladder - Transitioning to NCAA 2014
Now that I have confirmation that everyone has or is acquiring NCAA 2014, I can announce that we will be transitioning to NCAA 2014 for the 2018 season. After we finish recruiting, position switches and the like in NCAA 2013, we will teambuilder new versions of our teams for the 2014 game. I'll post more info about how we'll go about that later. I need to research some things and figure out how to recreate The Ladder in NCAA 2014.

So we will be losing more statistical history? No import availability...that stinks...
oh well, the UB Bulls will still do well.

Yikes. I thought you already had it for some reason. My bad. I thought Greg and Julio were the only guys who didn't have it. I didn't mean to force anyone into buying it. Last edited by Kodos : 06-25-2014 at 02:42 PM. |

That would be awesome if we could correct that for the lifetime, I hate my coach being a D+ despite being undefeated in Bowls and winning a national championship. My big question is: have they fixed the bug so it maintains the records during the season? I always end up like "2-1" for the entire season, rather than "9-3" or whatever.

For this coach thing, I will endeavor to comb old threads for the weekly result posts, which include team rankings at the time, and attempt to build the win-loss stats for everyone listed above. I'm not sure who everyone's rivals are, though - is there a place for me to look that up, or does everyone need to send them to me?

Here's a start. You can probably find a lot of Top 25 and Rivals stuff in game. Last edited by Kodos : 06-26-2014 at 08:34 AM. |

Where I think that helps is I can limit my search to top 25 and rival games, and not worry about every single game. I have found the season threads already, so I'll just scan for the results posts and pull the data from them.

Side note, we should add conference championships and national championships on that chart somewhere. We have the national championship in the bowl section, but either a column for "was conference champion?" in the table with season records, or a running count underneath where you have overall record and bowl record.
Of course I'm not sure if we still have all conference championships recorded. Maybe as part of the promotion / relegation posts?

We might be able to cobble conference championships together. I know I have recorded that in the Ladder History thread for at least the last few seasons.

You have conference standings in the 2011 thread as well, so I assume others. It's just an image I can't easily copy-paste.
I'll work on this instead of playing World of Tanks over the next night or two, especially since you stickied the season threads.

We should have someone create a coach and import into an OD just to make sure this works before we put too much effort in compiling stats.

I have thought briefly about a utility, so I can just hit "W", "T25W", "T25L", etc and have it accumulate as I walked through the threads. Probably just going to use Excel, though.

I have 2011 conference champs (South Florida and Rice), but can't find that info in the 2012 and 2013 threads.

In 2012 C-USA, USC went 13-0 and defeated Duke in Week 15. USC = the 2012 conference champs. In the MAC, neither Indiana nor Buffalo won the conference. In the MWC, Kansas went undefeated and won the conference. They beat USF in Week 6, and Rice finished 5-7. Therefore, no conference champions that are still active from the MWC. |

In 2013, it looks like Rice (MWC) and Indiana (MAC) won their conferences (Indiana was in the MWC in 2014, Buffalo was still in the MAC - IU must have won the tie-breaker with Ball State and moved up to the MWC). By the way, in 2014 we reshuffled non-human teams to make the Ladder more regional, so that's why if you compare 2013 with 2014, a lot of teams are in different conferences but still on the correct level of the Ladder. Huh. It seems like Duke, South Florida, and UTSA would have had to have won 3 each to get where they are.
Edit: Okay, Indiana should only have two conference championship game wins. From the first level, there were no conference championship games to win. You're counting just conference championship game wins, I was counting conference championship wins AND finishing first in your conference and moving up. So in your chart, Indiana should only have 2. FAU - I honestly dont think we have any rivals. I cant think of ever seeing a rivalry game since I started playing...
Regarding championships. I *think* I won a conference in 2016 to finally advance a division? |

Am I stuck with only 1 rival? NC State and Wake Forest are traditional rivals of Duke's.

Yeah, I don't think we won a conference championship in the first conference we were in, the Independents. We actually managed to move up after a 5-7 finish. In C-USA We played Louisville for the hardware and won miraculously, then we stomped ass this past season in the Big 12.

If you like. Also, I think some people last time didn't realize you had the option to just choose existing uniforms. That's the easiest option. I like to give IU the Block I Helmet that they had when I was attending, so I go the make your own uniform route.

The stat is for conference championships, not conference championship game wins.
Some people moved up by being runner-up in the conference. Duke and I each did this once I think as we kept fighting each other. And that's part of what makes it so confusing to track.

I always give them something similar to the Antwaan Randle-El days when they incorporated some black into the look. These: Only with the old school IU menorah looking logo.

I love tooling around with Teambuilder. I really wanted The Pyramid to be all teambuilder teams.
I'm debating whether to replace Akron with my beloved Rochester Lake Monsters from IHOF. Here is the adjusted Conference setup for NCAA 2014: Last edited by Kodos : 06-27-2014 at 05:28 PM. |

As requested, here are my "realistic" sliders based off a set that Jistic did on OS:
Offensive Skill - Heisman Defensive Skill - All-American Speed: Normal Threshold: 30 Quarters - 9 minutes Sliders User/CPU QB Accuracy: 5/10 Pass Blocking: 50/70 WR Catching: 45/50 RB Ability: 50/55 Run Blocking: 5/15 Pass Coverage: 60/70 Interception:25/25 Rush Defense: 50/90 Tackling: 35-40/35-40 (I keep going back and forth but I settled on 35 as I see a lot of missed tackles in college football.) FG Power: 45/50 FG Accuracy: 10/35 Punt Power: 45/60 Punt Accuracy: 10/40 Kickoff Power: 0/45 Subs QB 65/80 HB 84/90 FB/TE 65/80 WR 74/80 OL 65/80 DT 74/80 DE 74/80 LB 69/75 CB 74/75 S 74/75 Penalties 50 for all. |

I haven't had much time yet to go back through old game results, still hoping to do it. FAU, Buffalo, do you know who your in-game rivals are? Did I mess up any of the others? (Duke was concerned I only had UNC, but you can only have one, so is UNC okay?)
Duke -> UNC South Florida - > UCF Indiana -> Purdue FAU -> ? Buffalo -> ? UTSA -> Texas State USC -> UCLA Rice -> Houston

I would accept no rival other than UNC. Beating them down like the mangy mutts they are year after year is a pleasure I would not soon forego.
My copy of NCAA 14 has arrived and I took it out for a test drive last night. Recruiting sure is a lot different. Last edited by chesapeake : 07-02-2014 at 08:43 AM. |

One note on the above sliders.
With 0 Kickoff Power I am seeing 80+ KP kickers not be able to get touchbacks. After the kickoff yard line move from 2 years ago NCAA is averaging over 50% TB...I dont know that its a HUGE deal...just pointing it out. |

Threw this intentionally into a separate post. What are we doing about coach levels? Are we importing everyone as a level 0? That will likely make recruiting a fun challenge for everyone withCPU schools being way more established and having more recruiting points, more points per player and easier pipelines |

Well, my hope is to get all the records right (finally), I don't think we should have lots of D+ coaches running around. Not sure how that translates to levels, though.
