RIP - Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther)

This is a shock. RIP.

'Black Panther' star Chadwick Boseman dead of cancer at 43
Quote:
Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played Black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown before finding fame as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel cinematic universe, died Friday of cancer, his representative said. He was 43.

Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Associated Press.

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago, his family said in a statement.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more — all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

Must have been diagnosed right around his first apperance as Black Panther in Civil War.

Mind-boggling to think of what he went through during that rise to stardom. Marshall was great, and he made a mediocre movie watchable in 21 bridges. I haven't gotten around to 42 yet, but I remember him playing Floyd Little in the Express.

There was news about his weight loss a few months back. It was explained away as being for a movie. What a burden to carry, physically and mentally and trying to keep it in in his inner circle as he became a superstar.

A vegetarian too. Brutal.

Edit:. Black Panther 2 hadn't started filming yet but was apparently already in development.

One of few Browns draft choices that have had any success.

Yeah, I am blown away by this as molson mentioned because that means he was fighting this through a slew of movies. Since Black Panther was released in 2018, he was most likely fighting this prior to the filming of the movie. He kept this under wraps well and Marvel must have known and still gave him a chance.

I feel as if it's a little disrespectful to just list Chadwick Boseman as his Marvel movie character.

This context really deepens the grace he showed in so many interviews and interactions. He was such a genuinely good an joyful person even while going through this. God bless, Chadwick.

Exceptional actor. I haven't felt a celebrity death this hard since Heath Ledger.
