I'm always a couple of weeks behind as I watch them online from the email ones while making food. I was going to bump this thread but then forgot with the one about Stop and Frisk on Wall Street that was pretty awesome. Let's see if I can go find the clip... yup:

Comedy Central has to be praying John Oliver sticks with them so he can take over once Jon Stewart leaves. He did as good of a fill-in job as one could have asked of him.

He was an adequate substitute but he still needs to practice. He was too acerbic at times and not as original. But improvement may come with time and practice. Some of his schtick was copied straight from Conan. And his interviews were pure cream puff but so are a lot of Jon's- that felt more like substitute teacher than anything ("don't piss off any guests while Jon is away so they won't come back"). When he was interviewing Rand Paul, you might as well just have called it a wet kiss on his pre-2016 presidential tour.

Nothing like a bunch of videos going off on autoplay at the same time.

Change from embeded to a link. Autoplay wasn't turned on for it, but there is an interaction between adblockers and embedded videos from Comedy Central. Haven't found a way around that so I wound up using FlashControl on Chrome to not let the videos play right away.

That was an all to revealing interview, and it cost him his post.

N.C. Republican ousted following 'Daily Show' interview | MSNBC

Quote:
The response came quickly.
A Buncombe County Republican precinct chairman has been asked to resign after making “offensive” comments on “The Daily Show.”

Buncombe GOP Chairman Henry Mitchell said Don Yelton officially stepped down from his position Thursday.

Mitchell called the remarks “offensive, uniformed and unacceptable of any member within the Republican Party.”

That's kindof a shame. I'd rather the idiots and racists wear their ignorance for all to see.

This was funny. I loved the commenter realizing that he just had his "oh shit" moment.

The #McConnelling videos are great. My favorite I've come across so far is the video sent to Nine Inch Nails' "Closer." The lyric time-up is wonderful...

Dola, linkage for the above-mentioned video. Would embed but given the NSFW lyrics of the song, not risking a boxing.

Double-dola, I made my own using a song by King Missile about a certain detachable body part. The lyrics lined up with the pictures better than I could have hoped.

A couple of weeks ago, I've started having issues watching the online videos for TDS/Colbert as they've changed the website and now they just won't load. I'm running adblock and noscript but I was allowing enough to still view videos a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone ran into similar?

If Matt and Trey don't renew their South Park contract, there might be a bunch of Comedy Central execs jumping out of windows. South Park and The Daily Show really helped establish the network.

I really have difficulty understanding how anyone can find that show entertaining. I'm trying to give the show a chance, but as soon as the round table segment begins, it goes from simply being unentertaining to unbearable. Take that crap (and Bill Maher's similar shtick) to MSNBC where it belongs.

The round table discussion has been really painful thus far. It has occasionally been entertaining, but usually not. Not sure if that is a function of weak hosting, weak guests, or some combination.

Well I really like Larry Wilmore. And I thought the roundtables on gay marriage, fatherhood, and Cosby were terrific.

Of course Maher has never had a show on MSNBC (just ABC and HBO) . I haven't seen the show (I have Hulu+, but haven't gotten around to it), but I've generally heard good reviews.

yes i am aware of that. i say clear up the good spots on comedy channel and hbo for better stuff, and shift this quasi political stuff to a political channel.

I'm sure if HBO wasn't getting ridiculously high ratings for John Oliver's show and Comedy Central wasn't getting ridiculously high ratings for the Daily Show and Colbert, they'd be inclined to agree with you .

I like the political comedy. I vote it stays .

I concur with this. And twice, he's been either borderline really offensive or really offensive, though I've brain bleached enough that I don't remember the context except that one item was about working moms.

I had high hopes and may try again in a year or so...if by some miracle it's still around.
