Subway is literally the worst. It is a bread sandwich. I am lucky to live on the Jersey Shore where there are a number of amazing delis, Italian places, etc...that I never have to eat Subway again.

I have a friend who is a micro-biologist that regularly runs test on swabs from different restaurants. She says if you ever had a drink with ice at Subways, then you are most likely dead already.

Subway is good value.

The bread is fresh. The vegetables look fresh to me. The processed meats could be better. And there was one close to the dojo so convenient with the kids.

Subway any day over most of McDonald's offerings (but once in a while I do want that Big Mac).

Why You Should Never Order Ice on a Plane
Quote:
If you order ice in your beverage on a flight, there's a good chance the ice was made from tap water on the plane. According to a study from the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health in 2015, "aircraft water supply tanks are conducive for microbial growth," which means that anything that comes in contact with the plane's tap water could be contaminated with bacteria.

The opportunity for microbial growth is due in part to the fact that an aircraft's water tank is rarely emptied and cleaned. According to the study, tanks are only emptied and refilled when the plane is being serviced, when the water runs out on its own, or during the winter to prevent the tank from freezing.

The same study also found that long-haul flights have more bacteria than short-haul flights, and, according to NBC, EPA data from 2012 shows that one in 10 planes tested positive for carrying potentially harmful microbes in its water supply.

Probably a sign that I'm getting old but it seems on a good number of mornings when I go to log into my work laptop (which requires that I change the password every couple of months) there's a pause where I'm like "OK, which one is this one again?"

I've started creating work passwords that have something to do with an upcoming trip or event to help remind me.

I have a number like 0-9 in my password. When it's time to change my password, I increment by +1. So I only have to worry about a new password every 10th time or so.

The funny thing is that the guy who came up with the "change your password every x months" rule admits that it is pointless now.

I refuse to believe Gangnam Style is only 10 years old. It feels like it happened somewhere between 9/11 and Mya Hee/Chocolate Rain.

I must have posted here a ton way back in the day. I just looked at my stats, and I am currently averaging 2.1 posts per day on this board. Since 2018, though, I'm averaging under 2 posts per year. How the hell much was I posting before that?!

When the Navy forced me to change passwords there every other week or so I used to purposely go down columns of the keyboard.

1qaz@WSX They got their number lower case, special, and upper case.

2wsx#EDC was the next one. I just needed to remember what number to start with...and I had that in my wallet lol

I'm waiting for someone to mathematically break this down for you. Because that's what I expect from FOFC posters.

So the formula would be :

Pumpy's pre 2018 Daily Average = (Pumpy's Total Posts - (2022.5-2018) * 2) / (The day difference between Pumpy's FOFC Join Date and Jan 1st 2018)

Thanks! I guess the curve doesn't really drop off that dramatically since I've been on this board for almost 22 years. I can't imagine doing anything 2 times a day now. I'm a boring old man. I appreciate the insight!

...and now I'm realizing that this is my second post today.

That article sucks. Because it doesn't know or understand what the capabilities are of planes.

We don't have ice makers on planes. Every bit of ice is bagged and brought on.

You're fine to have ice on planes.

I'm familiar with the other studies. People who choose to drink coffee or tea, is a different story, however they do it every day, thousands of times a day, with no issue. We don't serve water that isn't bottled either. So getting ice water is a no brainer. Easy peasy.

What they don't tell you is that the survey was funded by the airlines themselves to get people to turn against free airline drinks so they can save a few bucks and then upcharge for "premium" ones, which were the same as they ones they took away

I don’t think it takes much effort to question why a small plane would devote a large enough space to install an ice machine. Ice machines are notoriously fragile as well.

After a 2 year hiatus (COVID in the population?), Japanese Beetles are back with a vengeance. One tree in the front and another in the back. We set up the little bags hanging from a hook with whatever stuff attracts them, and 2 days later both bags are over half full. Can't wait to grab the bag, seal it up, wrap it in 5 Kroger bags, and leave it in the garbage can for them to suffocate until garbage day.

Looks like we need to invest in more bags, too.

I had that problem with a DDS multiplayer league I'm in. Then I switched from Chrome to Vivaldi (got tired of Chrome's memory hogging) and suddenly, I haven't had that problem anymore

Holy crap. Haven't thought or worried about Japanese beetles in years and years. I remember those bags but haven't had to use them in probably over a decade.

My mom had like 10000 of them on this one tree. I forgot how much I hate Japanese beetles.

There was at least one who tried, a Russian who was a reasonably promising Sumo. He got kicked out of the pro sumo ranks after a pot bust, tried the NFL but his 9.0 40 yd dash largely killed that. He eventually played NAIA college football

Sumo on the offense - SBNation.com

Wakanohō Toshinori - Wikipedia

The above stuff dates from about 2014

There's an amateur sumo guy currently trying to see if he can make the switch, and this article notes that the guy mentioned above is the closest any sumo from Japan has ever gotten to playing professionally in the U.S. (there's a CFL program apparently that's trying to give a few slots a year to aspiring Japanese, not necessarily sumos)
