Xbox 360 "Solecismic 8" style NCAA 2010 dynasty?
Just trying to gauge how much interest there is in a teambuilder-based Solecismic 8 type of online dynasty in NCAA 2010. I am somewhat skeptical how well Madden can work with all human owners, so I will likely sit on the sidelines and see how that one works before jumping in. Plus, I have a GEFL-style solo Madden dynasty in mind for 2010 that I'm excited about.

Count me in. I've been a fan of doing a league this way since the very beginning, as long as the advance times are kept on a (relatively) fast moving schedule. I do think that we should stick to 2* teams...just because I've moved 3* teams up pretty damn fast before, but a 2* or even 1* team could make a big difference. Another idea is we could have those with proven so called "stick skills" start with lower star teams than those who have struggled in the past.
* What are your thoughts about my previously proposed schedule? Thu - Sat and Sun - Wed? * Is it 100% guaranteed that if I create a team on my end that you'll be able to pull it into the league? * Does this mean you are 100% sold on picking up NCAA for 360 and not PS3? I saw off-topic forum that you were kind of flip flopping due to some RROD issues. * Were you intending on being the commish?

I tend to agree on the even lower stars thing. I gained a star each season starting with 3* Indiana, and never finished outside the Top 20. And as you know, I'm not a stud on the sticks. So, yeah, in the interest of making it more difficult, lower stars is probably good. I kinda see myself as a middle of the pack guy, so maybe the least-skilled guys get 3 stars, middle get 2, and studs get 1. Quote:
That could work. Or we could have an RFL-style 4 day cycle where I make sure there is always one weekend day in the schedule. Quote:
Yes. Quote:
It doesn't look like there will be enough guys for a PS3 league, so yes. Quote:
It seems that way, yes. Last edited by Kodos : 06-02-2009 at 09:50 AM. |

1. I'm not really a fan of the Thu - Sat, Sun - Wed schedule. It completely removes the ability to speed-up when everyone finishes earlier, and I don't like that - particularly in the off-season.
2. I'm 1000000000% in. 3. I like the division setup of 4 Human/2 CPU. Means that you'll average 4 human games a season, but also makes the scheduling process a ton easier for the commish. 4. Does anyone know how this works as far as conferences? I'm assuming we'd be completely removing an existing conference? If so, any thoughts on which one? I'd rather a less-competitive one, but I think a lot of those don't have conference championship games, which would suck. 5. I think we do one of the pre-built styles and assign *s as we see fit. I'm fine with a floating star system based on "stick-skills", but would also be fine with everyone starting at say 2 or lower. I think UVA was a 3* and I've not managed to get them above a 4* fwiw.

Yeah...I could see how a strict advance schedule could be great in a big 32 team league, but it could actually slow things down in a smaller league.
Wade...if you're down for helping out with logos I have a special request. Do you prefer pm?

Initially, I think Conference USA is our best option. Twelve teams, conference championship game.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/standings MAC has a 6 team/7 team setup, so we could shove an extra strong cpu team in the 7 team division for an extra challenge for our studly players. Just an idea. Last edited by Kodos : 06-02-2009 at 10:23 AM. |

Question, what's the reason for having CPU teams? Why not make every team in the conference a human team?

From the ODs from NCAA 2009, it seems like it is hard to have a 12-team league without ending up with a guy or two that waits until the deadline every single time, thus bogging down the league for the majority who wants things to move along. Also, having all human opponents tends to make things move slower due to scheduling difficulties. Plus, I like the idea of having a couple of power-cpu teams atop the divisions to make the struggle to get to the top harder.
Also, if I'm going to the trouble of being the commish, I get to make some choices based on my preferences. (I am the commish of the RFL in NCAA 2009, if you want to check out how I am as a commissioner.) Last edited by Kodos : 06-02-2009 at 11:02 AM. |

So where do we want our teams to go? Specifc state, region, etc.?
I might go with a Simpsons theme on my team. |

Kodos - hah.. that's funny because when I was playing with the team util I used the IHOF Springfield Isotopes logo ..
I'm not sure that we really need to pick a region.. does it matter outside of maybe making certain stats off limits?

It might matter for recruiting. We could shove us all into Texas and have to fight tooth and nail for recruits. I claim Waco!

One of my ideas for a team was the Kansas City Chefs, with a picture of Chef Boyardee on the helmet. |

My school is the Lexington Minutemen and my fantasy football team has been the Lake Iola Ocelots for 10+ years. I'll see if I can get a logo for the school somehow.

I think it'd be pretty cool to have each of us do their high school.
As far as rosters, I wonder if the cupcakes/average joes/etc. generate a random roster each time, or if it uses a stock roster. We need to look into that. |

Looks like it creates the EXACT same team.
I don't know that that is necessarily bad. It creates them with numbers, then you can "generate random names" - so they'd all have different names.

That's actually a very cool idea. My aunt designed the old school '70s logo for my fighting Hillcrest Hornets. That would be fun to put on the field!

I suspected as much about the rosters. I wonder if the FCS teams have more variety?
I'm definitely down for doing the high school option. I wonder if when we have new guys come aboard, we'll be able to have them create their own high school and substitute it in. I'm guessing probably not. |

No FCS teams built-in. You can define that your team is I-AA, but there are none built-in. Yeah, I doubt we can change teams down the road. I hadn't thought about that, it's a good point.

Now...no laughing, but here's me after a game during my freshman or sophomore year. Notice the complete lack of any muscle mass on either myself or my best friend (I'm the white kid with the bad teenage moustache).

Our logo was the same as the Chiefs logo, just with all grey colors and a purple background (on the helmet). There were also no letters, so it was just an arrowhead. They have since changed the mascot and logo because some people thought we were offending Cherokee people...however there was never an actual complaint filed. It was just a bunch of white/latino people getting together and being overly sensitive.
dumb

Heh.. ours was "Gar-Field Indians"...
The logo has changed, but it changed from an indian head to a FSU Spear with different colors. I'll try to get some logos done this weekend - so anyone that posts info/links I can work on that.

Mine was the Tucker County Mountain Lions, and we have a golden "T" on our helmets that look a whole lot like the Tennessee "T" logo. So I'm using that.

If I remember correctly, it was light gray with a dark gray border, but it's been a while. It may have been middle of the road gray with a black border.
I'd say the middle is the 4th or 5th line up on this gray scale...try the border with both black as well as a very dark gray and just use your best judgement as to which looks better.
