Okay, mods can you make a thread with a poll for each post in this thread, asking if people want it to have its own thread?

I'm really not sure what the ownership (or lack thereof) of a rooster has to do with ones level of timidity.

What's the proper length of time to wonder about a posters absence? Especially one know to be expecially frail?

I sometimes wonder when a poster goes from heavy activity to nothing overnight. But that's not too unusual around here anymore.

Pm me who you are thinking of and I'll try to Google it up

I went to the Pez museum/visitor center over the weekend in Connecticut. I wonder if an idea like that would get an offer on Shark Tank if it were pitched today. Cheap candy made more difficult to eat than usual by placing it into a cheap container.

Finally got to see Book of Mormon last night when they came to town, it was as fun as I thought it'd be. They'll be in Salt Lake City for the first time next week, this was kind of a warm-up for that, we're about 10-15% Mormon in Boise.

Interesting that the Mormons bought ad space in the program. But of course, the show is not mean-spirited, which I think is why it works so well. And you can tell Parker and Stone have a kind of affection for well-meaning Mormons, which I can relate to having moved here.

I have never seen the show, but I definitely identify with this stance. Me and my brothers were raised Catholic, and two of us are basically non-practicing now. The third, though, had some very good LDS friends and being around them eventually led him to convert. As a result, I have met a large number of LDS people.

Basically, if you put aside the weirdness of the religion rituals and their afterlife theories, what you get is good basic family people that follow generally Christian tenets for everyday life. Some of the nicer people I have met are LDS.

I read an article somewhere that showed the Mormon church is taking advantage of the opportunities the play presents to talk to people about Mormonism, and buying ad space in the program is part of that campaign. Wish I could find it - was a fascinating read, and had as its hook two Mormon missionaries who were outside the theatre to talk to people about the religion and answer questions theatregoers had, etc.

I don't wanna derail the GOAT thread, and I know you can say this about a lot of athletes, but I wonder how special Randall Cuningham could have been a coach that gave a shit about his growth.

And just for the record. I have a Facebook account under a fake name that I've used about 3 times to look at pictures and have a late night conversation with a friend. I have a twitter account that I used for 1 day and then got bored with. I've never owned a cellphone. Both my TV's are old school, the most recent one bought in about 2003. My computer has 256 megs of ram. And my clock radio and my turntable get about ten times as much use as my mp3 player. And my name is not Kuczinski.

Is all that based upon some underlying philosophy about life, or did you just kind of never find the need for those things?

Pick 4.1 in that draft was Buster Rhymes. Surely that handle had to be on Pumpy's shortlist.

A little bit of both. I'm a bit of a hermit and I also don't see the need to spend money on upgrades when the things I have work fine for what I need. My video card went last year so I did buy a new computer, but before it arrived I found a replacement card at a flea market for like $25, so I'm still using my old one. The new one can wait till it's needed.

I admire this outlook and subscribe to it somewhat. Up until recently I primarily drove a car from 1998. My computer I think was purchased in 2008, my phone is an iPhone 3 which I never bothered to upgrade the iOS on. Really I was happy with my flip phone - which was hardly used - until my wife basically upgraded it for me. If something is working fine, why replace it before you have to?

(My computer I will have to before long. I've bought EU IV but can't really play it, which is no good.)

I don't care where you grew up, country folk or city folk, what accent you've got, none of it. If you didn't have a good drug store lunch counter in your life at some point then, well, I kinda feel a little bit sorry for you.

They try to see if they can resolve the structural deficiency first.

They'd have to go in and take it down one floor at a time, from top to bottom, but that's an expensive enough proposition that a lot of planning goes in to explicitly avoiding such a scenario.

Looks like they can start with the bottom floor too:

In addition to working around the area for a while, I lived within a few blocks of this building for 3 years and walked by it twice a day back and forth from my office...

But it’s the base of the building that really makes the tower so unique. The bottom nine of its 59 stories are stilts
