I am going to watch "The People vs. Larry Flynt" tonight because it contains my two favorite subjects: porn and speeches for the First Amendment.

Totally. I feel like a Bernie meme everytime I read about a dead celebrity these days, cuz I am once again asking "he/she wasn't already dead?"

One of the first people that came to mind when I heard the phrase "I don't like what you have to say but I will defend your right to say it." for the first time.

I think the thing with Flynt is that he was very vocal, and very in the news for a time. And then...he kind of went away. So I think part of the impression -- at least for me -- was that he may have been dead because I hadn't heard anything from/about him in a while. Surely if he was alive he'd still be causing a stink, right?
