I just saw my first unassisted triple play, wow!

Braves vs Cardinals

Men on 1st and 2nd for the Cardinals, no outs. Hit and run is on, Furcal jumps up, catches the ball, and then tags 2nd base and tags the runner going from 1st.

That was very cool. Talk about witnessing a rare feat.

Saw that.. he could have thrown it to first base you know.

Guy wanted to be in the books, who could have blamed him.

just saw this too, pretty amazing. The last one i saw (and the only one) was John Valentin of the Red Sox like eight or nine years ago

I don't think he had much time to think about it, and the tag was there.

Furcal is darn good at SS.

Ahhhh.... watching the Cards game and surfing with DSL and playing ootp5.....

Throwing to first would have been a mistake. The guy was right there, so the best play was to tag him. Had he been a little further away, then maybe the tag would have been unnecessary.

I don't think he went out of his way to complete the triple play. Not that I would have blamed him had he done that, though.

I hear what you're saying, its pretty close, he did have to run a little. Who knows , great play though, and always fun to witness history live.

If you don't need to make a throw, you shouldn't make one.

That's why Albert Pujols is the man! He smoked that Smoltz pitch to pull the Cardinals in the lead and extend his hitting streak. (no pun intended)

Wow, what a game!

Isn't that about the 10th in history, maybe? Really rare stuff.

12th. I think that's the 3rd since 1990 or thereabouts. I think John Valentin did it in the early 90's, and the announcers mentioned that they called the last one, on a Memorial Day a few years back.
