Plantar Fasciitis?

Can someone tell me what Plantar Fasciitis is? Whatever it is, it took my starting DT out for a year.

BAH, if I wanted to google, I woulda done it. You see, I'm lazy, and want someone else to do the work for me! Now could you kindly paste the definition here? Oh, and I'll take a nice burger for dinner, too. Thanks.

Dola:

It can take a long time to heal as I don't think you can really do anything about it other than resting it and has effectively ended a few atheletes careers.

I believe that that's what Duce Staley had a couple of years ago and it pretty much wasted his entire off season, it's an amazingly harsh injury that doesn't sound nearly as bad as it really is.

Its a strain in the ligament underneth the foot that connects the heel to the base of all your toes. Aids in toe/foot extension and contraction. Genetics is the biggest factor that makes one susceptible to it

This is also the most common injury for the guys at the end of the bench in the NBA who need to be put on the Injured List to make room for another player.

I remember two years ago there were 5 or 6 cases of sudden "Plantar Fasciitis" in a couple months span for the Chicago Bulls.

Tim Salmon had it in 2000, and missed a month. But he never had the surgery for it and played the rest of the season slow (I mean slower) and limping. After the season, the surgery actually cuts the tendon, relieving the stress and the pain. Go figure. Makes you wonder why it's there in the first place (besides to cause athletes pain).

Yeah what you guys have described is pretty dead on. It starts out with just a small foot pain in the morning and it gets progressivly worse. I never bothered to do anything about it thinking it was a minor injury that would just go away. Well let me tell you guys if there is one place that you don't want an injury it is on your foot. I have been doing these stupid marble exercises for about 6 months (and wearing shoe insoles) and the pain is just starting to subside.

(Make sure you send your player to a real foot doctor and not their physican who will misdisagnose and cause you several more months of recovery. I know from experience )

I think you have received some misleading information in this thread. Here is the answer you are really looking for:

Plantar fasciitis is one of a number of ailments that are held on a list somewhere in the FOF game, and when a player gets injured via the game's semi-random mechanisms, this element can get selected in some semi-random fashion to give some background color to the semi-randomly generated 'injury' to the player. It's there for your amusement.

You see, the game is not really populated with tiny little people, who have tiny little feet with tiny little tendons. It's a computer game - that's really it.

Hope that helps.

Send the guy in for a cortisone shot. When I was having troubles with this I finally got the shot. It hurt like hell when that needle went into the arch of my foot, but an hour later all pain was gone.

Dope the boy up and get him back out on the field!
