I see TPF is sold CD-ROM, would I have to download lastest patch
for this?

Or is the patch only for downloaded versions?

you would almost certainly need to download the latest patch. Of course, you would also have to wait for the CD to arrive to you.

Thanks for the info. I'll pay the x-tra 10 bucks for the CD, and wait patiently for it. Meanwhile I'll download the patch.
A 54MB download is just hectic to wait for.

I would think that by purchasing the CD the game is already on that.
Call me stupid, its just confusing when I ordered the CD is says:

Downloaded items: Total Pro Football -- Windows 98/ME/XP/2000
Shipped items: .400 Software Studios CD

You don't have to download the game, its just an option. They allow you to dowload the game, most just get the CD as a backup to have.
