Scholarships

I'm new to the boards and TCY. I'm currently in the 4th year of a TCY career using version 1.2a. I have a couple questions about the number of scholarships I can award.

The roster screen states that the max number is 60 and that I have 0 available. I've tabbed through my roster and I count 64 on scholarship including about 9 redshirt freshmen and several 5th year seniors.

Further, the recruiting screen tells me I have an estimated 17 scholarships for the upcoming recruiting cycle - yet I have only 5 senior scholarships (4 year and 5 year) graduating.

#1-Because I started this career on an easier setting, is the game letting me get away with exceeding the max number of scholarships?

#2-In reality, I can only award 5 scholarships during the next cycle, correct? (assuming no one leaves school etc)

Thanks for your time.

While you are theoretically limited to 60 scholarship players at all times, in actuality the game doesn't appear to recognize redshirted players; as such, if you redshirt all incoming freshmen you will be able to build up your roster to (I think) 73 scholarship players. I haven't checked recently, but I don't think the AI uses this trick, so many people abide by house rules to keep their rosters at 60 scholarship players.

As for the yearly limit, you still are limited to 16 players total. Even with constant redshirting, you will have certain seasons where you will have less than 16 schollies available and will have to fill the remaining slots with recruited walk-ons (players you've offered a visit to but no scholarship).

Thanks for the quick responses folks and thank you for the welcome. TCY is addicting. Too bad I'm lousy at it.

All 64 of my total roster (about 74 or so) are on scholarship.

I'm going to check my other conference opponents. If they are over the 60 max limit - then I'll follow suit. Otherwise I'll play by the rule of 60.

Thanks again for the welcome. All the best to you guys in this new year. Bob

Welcome Bob, glad you're enjoying TCY, it's a great game. I'd definitely like to mention what I view as an essential utility for the game,

TCY Helper

It lets you do more customized time management if you don't want to use the game's built in option, lets you see skill breakdowns for all the coaches and scouts, etc etc etc.

Thank you very much.

Last night I went through the entries in the "Sticky-All Inclusive Thread" for TCY and noted "Helper". I'll download it later this evening.

Thanks for your help, Peregrine. Take care. Bob

actually, that's http://fidosoft.com/FOF/page.viewproject.php?ID=2 The link you posted is no longer going to be updated. Too many headaches dealing with too little storage space.

Thanks for the update Fido, I just copied the one that was in the reference thread. Skydog might want to change that link out.
