OOTP6 FOFC Draft Options
We have decided to go with real teams and real players. The main thing we need to decide is how we want to actually accumulate our starting rosters. I know some are all for just giving them the team they got (real rosters), and the most popular thing is to protect five or so players and then have a preference draft.
How realistic is it to have an actual draft here at these boards to draft our teams? If nothing else, this gives us something to do while we wait for the game to come out. So let your voice be heard. Again, we have time so let's keep that in mind. It's not like we have to start the league right away when it comes out, more realistically we will have to wait for a patch anyways. Again "live draft" means here at the boards each team has an hour or something like that. It's been done before. MY VOTE: I believe we could pull this off, especially if each team protects five players. So, protect 5 players and live draft.

I definitely agree that waiting for the 1st patch would be prudent.

I don't know if this poll is really fair - I think we should decide for sure whether we're going to do a preference or live draft or whatever.

I'd rather have the default roster.

Based on the other poll which stated whether we wanted a "full player draft" or not about 20-8 said no to full player draft and a good 10 people agreed that a protection of players was the best idea. I forgot to add an option of niether just take the team the way you get them.

Yeah so if people want the default rosters they can just vote by posting. My bad, good job Ardent. I guess I kind of jumped the gun on this poll. I hope SkyDog can set up our own forum. Hell, I will just go get a free one to start this stuff for real until we hear something if you all want?

I wasn't aware OOTP had a preference draft option.

mstayl: setting up a temporary ezboard forum or whatever would be great, I think.

Also, let me clarify on another reason I don't really like this poll (not that mine were any better).
Since there are so few votes in each category, it's not an accurate poll. The leading option has just 44%. If you condensed the options to, say 3 players/full draft, 5 players/preference draft, 5 players/full draft, you might get a lot different results.

RPI - I agree it isn't a good poll.
If everybody wants, we can move over to a new forum I created for this discussion only. I will work on it slowly but we just need a temp place for us to figure everything out. New Forum

Nice work - I set up a more vague poll where hopefully we'll get most people to vote, and can proceed from there.

Sounds good. I am going to stay away from taking things into my own hands...whenever I do that something always goes wrong!

Hey don't worry about it. Hell, look at that first poll I posted last night - I'm no good either.

You better be careful or you are going to be deemed commish!

Yes, we need a commish! Pronto! ...and an AL and NL president.
Anyhow, I think we've come to the following conclusion: Real Team names Real MLB players Some sort of protected players plan We need to see what the majority wants in terms of protected players, then we could start the draft as soon as possible. I have a copy of the CBL Cardinals roster, which I think works just fine thus far 40 games into my league. I could output the rosters somehow and we could start the draft and get our teams together before the release/patch. There are a TON of things todo anyhow, so a draft would be great while waiting... BUT we need a commish or we have no league. RPI-FAN? Todd |

If people don't dislike me too much, I'd be willing to step up (with a few problems). But I know I have kind of an aggressive/confrontational personality and some people definitely don't like that.
I could commit a lot of time to this until September, when schools starts again (I still have about a month of school left for this semester, but I've got a pretty strong grip on things). In the summer I'll be at work all day, every day, with access to whatever I'd need. So up until September I'd be willing to step up and start this, but after then, I can't make any promises. I might be able to continue, I might not. Again, this is contingent on people being willing to have me as commish for even that short time. I know I rub some people the wrong way, and totally understand if anyone objects to this. So as I said, I'll do it if everyone is Ok with it, and aware that I may have to hand over the reigns come September.

I like the honesty. I see nothing wrong with a possible interim until we find a full-time guy.

Thanks RPI-FAN. I was really hoping out of 30 people, a commish would be born?
It's early though, most are still at work. Maybe someone will take the reigns?! I would be the AL President unless someone would like to do it - no problems from me whatsoever!!! Todd |
