Boxing tonight
Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao
The last time I saw Pacquiao, I saw him completely and thoroughly dominate a boxer that was, at the time, considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, Marco Antonio Berrera. I am really looking forward to this fight. His domination of Berrera made a fan out of me. On the undercard is Miguel Cotto vs Lovemore N'Dou Cotto looks like he's a future star and N'Dou's most recent fight was a lose to Shambo Mitchell (in a fight that was a lot closer than the judge's said it was). This should be a great test for Cotto and if he wins (which I think he will), he'll start getting some serious fights. |

Cotto won the first fight by decision.
In the 1st round of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight, Pacquiao knocked Marquez down 3 times. |

The second round, things calmed down but Marquez's nose is broken and bleeding badly. Marquez actually landed some clean shots as Pacquiao looks to be going for the 1 shot. Not too bad of a round for Marquez

Round 3 goes to Marquez and round 4 to Pacquiao. It's settled down now but Marquez needs to either knock out Pacquiao or win every round from here on out because of the 10-6 first round. He's down on points by a lot becuase of those 3 knock downs.

Marquez wins the 5th round and there's a small cut over Pacquiao's right eye. I have it 48-44 for Pacquiao right now so he's not down as much as it seemed.

Marquez wins another round. He's fighting a great counter-punching fight right now. Pacquiao leaves himself open when throws a punch and now Marquez has regained his confidence.

I think Pacquiao did just enough to win this round, but it was a close one.

Marquez wins the 8th round, basically stealing it with a flurry as not all that much happened. I now have Pacquiao ahead by just two rounds. This should be great coming down the stretch

Pacquao takes the 9th and with 3 rounds to go, I have him 3 points ahead. Marquez is going to need a knock out according to my scorecard, but some of those rounds could have gone either way. Should be an interesting Las Vegas decision if it lasts 3 more.

Pacquiao wins the 10th. He started landing the left as effectively as he did in the 1st. A good round for Pacquiao. Marquez looks tired out there and Pacquiao doesn't.

I gave the 11th to Marquez and the 12th to Pacquiao, but the 12th was close.
I have it 115-110, the same as Harold Lederman, but we scored a few rounds differently. Honestly, I didn't think we'd see the end of the 1st round, let alone the 12th, when Marquez was knocked down for the 3rd time in the 1st round. |

A draw. One judge had it 115-110 for Marquez. One 115-110 for Pacquiao and one had it 113-113.

judges are idiots. The draw judge scored the 3 knockdown round 10-7. Idiots!

1 point per knockdown...how can the judge not know this? 3 knockdowns = 10-6. It's simple math...

The 115-110 judge had to give Pacquiao the first and NOTHING after that.

I quickly checked it. The 115-110 for Marquez had to score the 1st round 10-6, and the for th erest of the fight gave Pacquiao one round and gave the other 10 to Marquez.

The judge who gave it to Marquez is a Canadian, so it makes more sense now.

I was rooting for Marquez the way he bounced back, but there's no way he overcame the damage of that first round. There's no way he wins 115-110.
I noticed, though, that in Marquez' corner before the twelfth they were just telling him to box through, whereas in PacMan's corner they were telling him it was too close and he should knock him out. Maybe at ringside it seemed more like Marquez was kicking ass. |

It wouldn't be the first time that what was seen at ringside was not what was seen on TV (See De La Hoya - Mosley 2). But considering that one judge had it 115-110 for Pacquiao, I'm just going to go with "He's Canadian" as the reason.

Best big name fight since Ward vs. Gatti III. I had Pacquiao winning 114-111 but I definitely could see Marquez with a slight win. 115-110 in Marquez's favor is tough to understand. In my opinion, after the 1st round, Pacquiao lost the fight. He simply didnt do enough of anything and clearly was winded. What should have been a easy victory, after the 1st, became a draw because he wasnt active or in the best shape.

"Judge Burt Clements, who controversially scored Manny Pacquiao's three knockdown round 10-7 instead of 10-6, told the Las Vegas Review Journal after the fight that his scoring of the round was an error. "Clearly, it wasn't non-awareness that there were three knockdowns," said Clements. "I just screwed up. I feel badly because I dropped the ball, plainly and simply. You can make a lot of arguments that it was a very close fight, but that's immaterial. The fact is, I dropped the ball." Clements stated he was under the impression the Nevada Commission did not like 10-6 rounds. Had he scored the round 10-6, Manny Pacquiao would today be the WBA/IBF featherweight champion." Just saw the replay of this fight this morning, had to leave after the first 3 rounds last night. I was amazed it ended up going all 12. As much as i ended up wanting Marquez to win after coming back strong after round 1, or even more after round 2, i was amazed it was a draw. I thought Marquez won most of the rounds, but the 1st being a 10-6 round was just too much to over come, i am supprised by the 115-110 card in favor of Marquez.
In the end, i guess this will end up giving me what i wanted as i said in round 11, I hope there is a rematch because if it wasn't for the first Marquez would win this.

I'm hoping for a (non-PPV) rematch as well.
