hehe, thanks for the info, I'm sure there'll be one or two hermits that will read this and go "cool!"

By the by, I ordered it from gameplay last night, will probably be delayed as they'll be swamped by orders, but I'll take it when it'll get to cold Canada

Was very impressed with the mind games/media part in the gold demo. Playing with Wrexham, after a friendly against Coventry, I made some good comments about Coventry's manager and he replied back, saying he thought I'd be able to lead my team to good results. I went "cool", until I saw that three of my players were very impressed that their coach was getting good comments in the press and they were all saying that their faith that we'd have good results had been boosted. Wow!

Frogman-what does the total come to if you order through gameplay? Wondering how much the shipping is.

Also, I'm trying the demo but, even though I select English (US) during setup, the game menu comes up in a different language. Is this how it is supposed to be?

I had this problem too (it seemed to be a problem with the install). If you start up the game and get to the first screen (the one with 8 little, round icons around the SI logo), go to the top right menu. This is the Options menu (only it will say something like "lkjfoaih" because it's in Danish). Click on it and go down to the 7th item on the list, just above a little bar. This is the Preferences page. At the very top of that page you should see a drop-down menu for language - pick English. Now (this is the important part) go to the lower left part of the page to a green box with three choices (again they will be in Danish). Choose the top one (this is Confirm) and everything should change to English. Then you can play the game normally.

I hope this helps you out

Regular shipping for "the rest of the world" including USA and Canada is £4.95, for a total of £29.94. That's what I took. Expedited, signed for shipping is £8.50.

I had heard of that language bug but never experienced it. I downloaded my demo from a link posted by SirFozzie on the benelou board...

here's the link:

I don't know for sure if there is going to be an MLS quickstart, but on the SI forums, a guy named Aljarov has been asking for one since the gold demo came out. The response he's been getting has been that if they get time they might release one, except that they are extremely busy at the moment. I'm not sure if this is just putting him off (until he hopefully gets the game and shuts up ) or what. I guess I wouldn't count on it.

If rpi-fan is looking to see if SI have fixed a lot of the issues with the MLS, maybe he can wait until the game is out for a bit and someone on one of the forums can do some research for him.

Shit, just back from the biggest Spanish games dealer and the stupids working there says that it won't be released until November 19th and he insists that i'm wrong, nobody in the world is shipping the game, after some minutes arguing with him i left the shop telling him to take 5 minutes to surf a bit on something named internet wehre you can find valuable info. Always the same stupids in charge of computer games shops in Spain, and this is the biggest chain here. I should have purchased it at play.com but didn't do it because i didn't want to wait a week to have it at home... now i'll wait much more. :/

Just a quick question. I have a player who is 14 and is "ineligible". Is this an age thing? What should I do with him to keep him playing matches during the season. I admit I know very little about soccer.

I think you have to be 16 or 17 to play "Professional" first-team soccer in Europe (they can play for the reserves or U-19 team tho)

WHo you got, Scooby Freddy Adu? HATE DC UNITED HATE HATE HATE

Marc... a couple of questions/bugs that may have been fixed but worried me a bit with the Gold Demo.

1) Playing as Cardiff City, I was able to sign Freddy Adu every single time from DC United. Pretty sure that a European club can't sign him for nothing under MLS rules, which is issue #1, but issue #2 is that he was willing to come to me. And nobody else was interested in him

2) Playing as a lower division (conference and below) team there were NO free transfers out there (some big players but nobody that would sign for me). Combined with a limited squad (a lot of teams only had one GK, 4 midfielders total etc...) and no transfer funds, this is a BIG game killer.

I'm sure #2 is a roster pack issue and has been fixed, but what about #1?

bhlloy, in regards to your 2nd question, I'm pretty sure that's a quickstart thing. I think all those quickstarts for the gold demo were done with a small database and therefore there weren't that many free transfers generated. I would think that could be easily fixed in the full game by starting a game with a few leagues picked and a larger database. But Marc would be the one to answer your questions definitively. . .

Might be a problem w/how MLS is set up

There's no age limit in MLS, but I'm not SI, so I can't tell you if they can lift an age limit for a league (like MLS)

Can you provide a bit more information.. are you playing as DC United or as another team in Europe? Are you playing the Gold Demo or the full game?

A player can't play professional games until he's 16 or 17 (dependant upon league in question) .... this is both irl and in the game.

If you hang onto him he can develop and improve his skills before his debut or on the other hand if you don't think he'll make the cut let him go ....

I'll check this out. IRL moving to a more competitive league is a factor in a player deciding to move clubs, I'm surprised that you didn't have competition for him though.

If you play with 'small' database then there won't be many free transfer players right at the start of the game, however as you continue you'll find the larger clubs releasing players who don't feature in their plans so you won't be short of players.

If you use a larger db size then you'll obviously find a lot more players in the game.

Marc, there is no age limit here in the states, does MLS have the age limit enabled?

(Just now realizing that you probably know this, but figure it might be worthwhile for others to see anyways)

They are the same game, just different versions (ala FOF4 and FOF 2004). Since SI Games (the creator) split with Eidos (the publisher), they lost the naming rights to the game.

FM 2005 is the equivalent of CM 04/05 - however please note, there is a game called Championship Manager 2005 which is published by Eidos and is NOT THE SAME THING as the SI Games series.

In short, FM2005 is presumably better, as it is an updated version of CM 03/04.

There is no age limit in MLS.. Marc, can you take a look at this, see if it's true and see if it needs to be added in a patch?

(plus I'll check the SI Games boards later to see if this has been reported elsewhere)

So, in the real world, he can play two more years for DC< but not in Europe (he's 15 now) at the first-team level

anyone in the US receive the game yet? I ordered the expedited international shipping from Gameplay yesterday. Just trying to get a handle on when it would arrive - I assume Friday at the earliest? They don't offer tracking or tell me a delivery date.

I don't know why I expect anyone would know an answer for this.

Well, I'd expect SirFozzie to be among the first one to get it --not saying he got it already or else we would have heard about it -- as I know he took the expedited shipping too. I took regular shipping, so I won't be of any help to you I think...

I think I'll wait for the first or second patch to get it, or wait for the US release, I looked at the SI forums and there is a good amount of problems with the game that need to be fixed.
