Being Billy King-tpb2005 Sixers Dynasty
I look at our team we have don't have a point guard that i trust with Eric Snow gone. Aaren Mckie and Allen Iverson will be our starting guards. I look over the free agents and bring in robert pack he is immedatly our 3rd guard.
John Salmons is our fourth guard if everyone is healthy will probally have limited minutes at this point. We also have Kevin Ollie and Willie Green neither of which i want on the floor and not in our future plans. At the forward postions 1st round pick Andre Igualdla(the other AI) will be starting in the 3 spot he is not better than big dog but big dog don't play defense and i doubt will be resigned. Kenny Thomas is our power forward a little undersized but has stepped up as a team leader when Iverson has been hurt. Corliss Williamson is our 4th option at forward he doesn't do much to excite me and i really don't like his contract. Kedrick Brown and Klye Korver are on the team but i hope don't see the court and won't be with us after their current deals. Centers Samuel Dalembert will be our starter. I signed him to a 5 year extension this morning. He is not a star but along with Kenny Thomas and the two other AI's we hope we can challenge in the east and pick up a young version of Eric Snow in the draft. Brian Skinner (our mid level exception signing in the offseason) will be our #2 option and also give up minutes at the 4. Marc Jackson will be getting minutes as well. I don't know how good or bad we are right now. If Dalembert and Iguodala step up we could be able to make some noise in the post season. If they don't we could be counting ping pong balls. and now every Gm's worst nightmare Steven A. Smith just entered my office.... Last edited by condors : 11-22-2004 at 04:53 AM. |

Steven A. Smith:"Jim O'Brian is benching Veterns Big Dog and Mark Jackson and your off season signing of Brian Skinner is going to share time after them?"
Billy King"Jim advised me he wanted to look at the younger guys as they need playing time to grow into the players we think they can be and gives us the best chance to win a championship." SAS "Your talking about a championship this season?" BK "Every season your goal has to be to win a championship and the coach may go to the veterans if the younger players don't show him enough but they worked very hard in camp and deserve the look" SAS "Robert Pack was seen at practice playing in the first team is this another change?" BK "We brought in Robert because Jim felt he needed someone who can run his offense and he really like what he saw in Robert so while nothing is written in stone i know Jim is considering starting him" SAS "Do you feel your offseason was a disaster after not being able to trade AI and only being able to acquire Corliss Williamson and Brian Skinner who will inspire no fear in opposing teams? BK "AI is our goto guy we know he can take over a game on any given night. he is only 29 years old and we need to get the right guys around him. I believe we are going to surprise some teams this year." SAS "Do you hear the fans calling for you to resign? How much time do you think you have left? After letting a hall of fame coach leave and getting nothing from your drafts and free agency? BK "Mr. Synder and I are on the same page with this team and your evaluation of our free agency and drafts differs with that of a rational person. You have a great day. I have to go. note to self: Hire a security guard and have him do a cavity search SAS whenever this he steps foot near my office. |

I don't like how the season is going. We started off strong. Robert Pack gelled with our team. Mckie is a very good player comming off the bench. Add the scoring of Big Dog off the bench and the team has some options there. Currently Robert is suffering from his 3rd injury. With him out of the lineup while AI and Mckie try to run the offense it isn't the same. Salmons is even worse. Our #1 priotory is to get corrected asap. Add into the mix Dalembert broke his foot and while Jackson/Skinner combo won't kill us when Pack is back there without both of them this team just isn't good enough to win enough games to be competive. Right now there doesn't seem to be the right player available. The top 2 high school prospects and the top international prospect happen to be point guards. If this team keeps on playing their typical game we just may have a chance at one of them.

Marc Jackson is demanding a trade. I work the phones. I find 0 teams wanting to take on his contract. I don't blame them overpaid and complaining. He is a big man with a below average inside game but above average(for a big man) outside game. He will remain unhappy coming off our bench unless a team deciedes they want him.
I consider trading AI for Walker the money works and his contract is over after this season. That would give us some wiggle room under the cap. Problem is we aren't going to find another AI. So after i sleep on it i decide that we currently have a 5 year window to win it with AI. That is how long his contract runs. After that we may have to tear the whole thing down. Our injury problems continue Just when we get Robert and Dalambert back Kenny Thomas and Brian Skinner go down. We had won 6 of 7 and started moving up. The very next game the other AI goes down. We struggle to compete on a nightly basis. When we get healthly we make a run but finish just out of the playoff picture. Although just a couple games behind the Knicks for the divsion title. We watch the Sacromento Kings celebrate their championship and hope to get lucky in the lottery. league awards mvp=Shaq (no surprise there) 28.8 points 2.7 assists 14.1 rebounds 2.0 blocks and .8 steals a game defensive player of the year=Ben Wallace 9.9 points 2.8 assists 14.0 rebounds 3.2 blocks 1.6 steals rookie of the year=Emeka Okafor 12.0 points 2.5 assists 9.0 rebounds 2.1 blocks 1.0 steals 6th man=Glen Robinson 17.6 points 5.8 rebounds 0.2 blocks 1.4 steals coach of the year=Stan Van Gundy 54 wins for the Heat. |

we have the 10th pick in this years draft seems could have been worse. At least i didn't trade the pick and should be able to get something to resemble a point guard(although i am not ruling out anything at this point).

we had eyes for 5 point guards and 3 other players with the 10th pick. The run on point guards was strong and all 5 of our options were gone before our pick. We were happy when SF Ben Bean was not taken. He looked like a much better player than some of the point guards we invited to camp. We waste little time in making our selection.(He was 6th on our draftboard and highest rated guy left). In the 2nd round we get a point guard just to have a body and after taking a look at him that is all that Brian Botts is.

the Other AI improved his defense and stealing in the summer league, While Ben Bean improved his passing and stealing. Brian Botts still stinks. Nobody took a step backwards so that is good.

I decide to let Green Brown Korver and Big Dog go thru free agency. We manage to keep Robert Pack on a 1 year vet min contract.
With our 2 draft picks it allows us to bring in 2 other players to fill out the bench. We are over the cap so i have to look at guys willing to play for the min salary. Ron Abrams a 6-8 power forward from Maryland with and Antuan Seymour a 7-0 Center from Notre Dame. They are both 23 years old. Signed 2 year deals for the min salary. Our scouts rate both having great defensive players (9 current rating for them). They could be bench players for us for as long as they want to be. |

the experts don't like what they see in my team. We are ranked 27th in the league with a 393.1 rating. I don't blame them. We missed the playoffs last year and our 1st round pick is not better than big dog right now.
Mark Jackson is still on the trading block and still demanding a trade. I doubt i will get any offers for him. I still believe if we stay healthy we can get make the playoffs. |

I look at the team Salmons Ollie and Mckie have bad contracts and i probally shouldn't have signed the 2nd round pick as i don't see him ever playing for us. Iverson is the man and Pack can run the offense Mckie can give some minutes but we need another point guard. When you add in the ages of Mckie and Pack it brings up more issues. Salmons gets limited minutes at the fourth guard very limited minutes about 2 per night when neither iverson or pack is on the floor. Salmons and Mckie is not a backcourt matchup that concerns opposing coaches. Ollie is not in the rotation he is a point guard who doesn't handle the ball well enough or pass well enough for me to trust. Injuries are the only thing that can get him some minutes.
At the forward spots I like the other AI and rookie Ben Bean they are both players. Kenny Thomas is a guy who comes to work every day and gives us his best just like AI and is also a little undersized like AI as well. Coraliss Williamson is really not enough player for the money he is on the trading block with mark jackson but i don't forsee any takers there. The center postion is well manned by Dalembert. He is improved already over what he was last season and can get better still. He gives us some hope of being able to compete along with Kenny Thomas and AI. Brian Skinner off the bench along with mark jackson gives us some depth as well but Dalembert is the only one with true talent. |

after 66 games our team is battleing for the most ping pong balls in the lottery. I am ashamed of this team. Injuries or no injuries we should be better than this. The coach is giving minutes to the 3 young kids that have been riding the pine. AI is demanding a trade and Corliss Williamson is showing signs of unhappniess. Ben Bean is improving nicely. I honestly expected better than this.

this year we watch the Spurs celebrate their championship. We finish with 24 wins only better than the 19 win Hawks. I feel like i got kicked in the nuts.
Kevin Garnett wins mvp and defensive player of the year 24.9 points 13.1 rebounds 4.9 assists 2.3 blocks and 1.8 steals per game Kenny Robinson from the Clippers won rookie of the year (he was #1 on my draft list at least) 13.7 points 4.0 assists 5.1 rebounds 1.5 blocks and 1.4 steals. He was the most ready to play today point guard in the draft. Nene Hilario of the Nuggets won 6th man of the year 10.2 points 1.8 assits 6.9 rebounds .4 blocks and .9 steals per game greg popovich wins coach of the year 59 wins for the spurs this season. |

With the fourth pick in the draft I miss the 2 guys I really wanted but decide to take Nkosi Mofokeng(gotta like that name). The 6-2 point guard from south Africa was the 3rd best point guard and after last years disastrous season we need someone at the point. He is a 2 basketball current and 4 potenal player i pass on guys i value higher because i need his ball handing and passing skills is is currently rated 4/8 and will be our opening day point guard. The second round comes along and now i really wished i went another direction DJ Rice falls in the 2nd round not a star but the best handle of all the guys coming out he will be a good backup for Mofokeng for a long time. he is a 2 basketball 2.5 basketball guy.
We have 6 guys in summer camp Abrams increases his scoring and passing but loses some stealing, Tice increases his passing but loses some blocking. Ben Bean takes a step back in his scoring and passing(ouch), Botts increases his defense and blocking but loses some stealing. Mofokeng increases his scoring, passing, blocking and stealing. Seymour has no changes. |

we finally get an offer for marc jackson, chris mihm leaves the lakers to sit on our bench. Or at least that is what i thought. Brian Skinner goes on the DL. So Mihm gets a chance to play some minutes it doesn't make a difference though as he isn't going to be resigned at his salary after the season.

I am ok with our guards Mofokeng and Iverson are a good tandam(although undersized) Mckie and Rice off the bench i am comfertable with our guards.
The forwards Kenny Thomas, the other AI and Ben Dean, Brian Skinner. I am ok with this as well I give Abrams 2 minutes a night just so he can stretch his legs at the power forward spot. The center i like Delembert, Skinner and 2 minutes for Seymour. It really isnt bad. The problem is Mofokeng isn't ready for prime time, AI is unhappy(and on the trading block). I don't think this team has many options at this point. The team will be going forward with Dean and Dalambert as the foundation. Thomas is a nice player but a bit small if i can get a 6-10 monster to play power forward i won't hesitate to get him. AI can throw up all the shots he wants and do whatever he likes we need a taller man at the 2 spot. |

Well we did it. We were the worst team in the league. Maybe we can improve to being a disgrace next season.
Spurs win the title (again) Kevin Garnett MVP(again) Tim Duncan defensive player of the year Elton Lang Rookie of the Year(they had me taking him in the mock draft) Anwar Harrington (a guy i almost took a couple years ago) Greg Popovich wins coach of the year (again) |

i didn't lose much in the crash so that is good. The problem is my team is bad.
What is worse is i am not sure why. We had the 2nd pick in the draft. The franchise player i wanted was taken first. The next best player is a point guard not a postion of need but i am taking the best player(we were the worst team in the league with AI that is definatly a problem). In the 2nd round we go with a 6-9 power forward who will be getting minutes right away as skinner and williamson's contracts are done. We have 2 lottery pick point guards although neither is really ready now. This hurts the team alot. I am hoping that is the only problem. Ollie and Mckie contracts are finally gone that will free up about 11 million of cap space. I signed a 2 guard who is a defensive specialist to back up AI. He is only getting a few minutes as AI plays a ton but hopefully will be around for a while and grow into a nice role player. The small forward postion is our real strength Dean and Igualdla really gives us a nice 1-2 punch there. Kenny Thomas is really our only PF that can actually score some. The other 2 guys are defensive guys only. Dalembert is our center our backup is a defensive only guy. I would like to sit here and tell myself that the lottery pick point guard steps in with our current group and we are contenders. I think we are rebuilding. |

I honestly can't wait to get rid of some of these contracts.
The team is bad and overpaid. Iverson is our best player but worth 20+ million a season. If he could run the point better maybe. He is not the 2 guard to win the title with. I probally should have traded him but i decided to try to win as much as i could with him. This team needs to get bigger and better. Our two rookies are improving nicely which is good. Looks like we had a good draft this time around. |

We got the first pick in the draft and we take a shooting guard. And Iverson will be paid his money to stay home this season. We need to get this kid playing time. We are probally looking at another lottery pick but not for much longer(i hope).

the 2010 season and we only have 1 player that is was on the roster when i got here that is backup small forward Igualdla with 6 years exp and age 26 is our most vetern player.
This may be a young team but its not a bad team. I have alot of the players locked into "good" contracts. Dalambert and Thomas have left we were a crappy team with them and they weren't getting any younger. We have the 1 thru 3 spots starters and backups covered. we have 2 bench guys at the 4 and 5 spots. What we need are a couple of starters. What i have done is got us almost 13 million under the cap. If we can find 1 stud power forward or center in the draft we will get the best free agent we can at the other postion and be a postseason team for the first time under my watch. We also should remain so for a while. I have noticed that the draft is a funny thing. My #1 overall selection is not my best guy in fact the guy i selected 10th overall has been nothing short of a stud. I orginally got him to back up Igualdla and he took his job in a couple seasons. Maybe the other guys need more time. |

i was thrilled with the 4th pick i was able to get my #2 overall selection PF Ben Hasting he is a PF with an 3.5/4.5 already a good defender and inside scorer. I tried like crazy to get Darko Milicic to sign with us but washington overpaid to get him 13+ million a year i hope they are happy cause he isn't worth that(i am a little bitter about it though) 26 years old and a 3.5/3.5 guy would have fit nicely into our team.

2 months into the season and for the first time since season 1 we have a real chance to make the playoffs. It has been a long time coming if it happens. I have mixed feelings as my cap room will be smaller next year and the year after that. It is a must i get a center this offseason who can help the team get to the next level and really contend for a title.

we end up missing the playoffs but that is ok because we won the lottery. A bunch of times we deserved to win the lottery and we didn't this time we didn't deserve to win it and we do. I sure hope their is a stud center in this draft! Ben Hasting won rookie of the year, sign of good things to come

We have our center i really wish he had a higher now rating but i wanted the guy who could be the best. Jason Wooley is that guy 2.5/5 who will start for us allowing nathan mallet and klye cook taking the bench roles i always saw for them. My team is complete. Now i just need to keep it together and hope they actually make the playoffs this season. It has been a horrible run outside looking in.

i am a bit stunned we again fail to make the playoffs. I use 2 draft picks to replace the 2 bench players who are leaving. I am very distressed that my core group of players were all there and we couldn't even win 40 games. I sure hope they do better this year!

Ben Bean actually took less money to get out of town i guess he was serious when he was demanding a trade. It really can't hurt us that much we haven't made the playoff with him so what is the big deal. We did draft a guy with the plan that we could lose him in free agency. Of course he is a rookie and won't be ready to step right in. And the team should miss the playoffs again as we lost a key guy.

how conducive is your strategy to what you are trying to accomplish? i've only played a little with the demo, but if your players don't fit your team's overall strategy, you're more than likely going to struggle.

my coach likes to run a very slow offensive and a high pressure defense
I had a team that a thought would be perfect a couple of seasons ago had 6 of the 7 bench guys 8 rating or better on defense but my starters were not all fully developed. I think you need to get 8 of the best players you can and not worry about the others. I am not sure though cause i got nothing to show for my efforts as of yet. I again failed to make the playoffs so if at first you don't succeed fail and fail again. |

pg nxeko nkampeni 5/5 30 years old last year of contract pg ricky moody 3.5/4 24 years old 2 years on contract sg henry smith 4.5/4.5 26 years old 2 years on contract sg mike owens 2.5/3 23 years old (this years 2nd round pick i like him) 3 years sf arthur michell 2/5 19 years old 3 years left on contract sf antwaan evans 2.5/3 22 years old 4 years(this years 1st round pick) pf ben hasten 4/4.5 26 years old 5 years pf terrance andrews 2/2 26 years old last year c jason wooley 3.5/5 22 years old 3 years c kyle cook 2/2 31 years old last year i am going to try to resign nkampeni but he wants a max contract i am not going to give him that. He may be the best player but we haven't made the playoffs and i hold him personally responsible.(can't be my fault) probally look at a backup pf and c in the draft. |

if i can get nkampeni signed to a reasonable deal and mitchell and wooley progress we may make the playoffs for the first time under my watch.
I am not confident that nkampeni will sign with us, moody is certainly a good player though. He may be a 4 star guy next year and is 6 years younger. I will only be able to keep one of them although i want it to be nkampeni i won't cry a river if its moody. Hasten Smith and Nkampeni should be enough to win games i am not sure why we lose so many games. |

I think the off season went pretty well for us we got Austen Carey 3.5/4.5 pf in the draft and resgined Nkempeni so i feel we have a chance this season
pg nxeko nkempeni 5/5 31 years old 6 years pg ricky moody 3.5/4 25 years old last year sg henry smith 4.5/4.5 27 years old last year sg mike owens 2.5/3 24 years old 2 more years sf arthur michell 2.5/5 20 years old 2 more years sf antwaan evans 2.5/3 23 years old 3 more years pf ben hasten 4/4.5 27 years old 4 more years pf auten carey 3.5/4.5 23 years old 4 more years c jason wooley 4/5 23 years old 2 more years c terrance vinning 2.5/3 26 years old 6 more years (i picked up vinning in free agency as i wasn't thrilled with our 2nd round pick) the worst players have 2.5 rating i think this is a pretty good team(but i have thought that before) Last edited by condors : 11-23-2004 at 05:03 AM. |

call me crazy but i have a feeling my team is going to stink it up again (simming the games while i am at work). I am so disgusted with these guys.
Should i hit the luxury tax for players that can't even make the playoffs? I think it may be time to take control over the actualy games and tell the coach to get me some coffee |

game#1 at home vs celtics(0-0)
we go into halftime up by 11. Things are looking good. In the third quater they start hitting every shot and end the quater up by 6. The 4th quater is a back and forth battle after we tie it up with 9:26 to go. The lead changes a few times then they go on a 6-0 run and win the game 99-95. pg nkampemki 2 for 8 5 points 6 rebound 5 assists 1 steal 4 blocks 2 turnovers sg smith 4 for 10 9 points 2 rebounds 4 assists 0 steal 0 blocks 3 turnovers sf michell 4 for 9 8 points 4 rebounds 2 assists0 steal 0 blocks 2 turnovers pf haston 6 for 9 19 points 11 rebounds 1 assist 1 steal 2 blocks 2 turnovers c wooley 9 for 11 20 points 9 rebounds 5 assists 1 steal 1 block 4 turnovers not much to go off of but they had 7 turnovers to our 21 that isn't a good thing |

exhibition game #2 vs the suns
we lose 88-81. we got hammered in the first quater made a run in the third but it wasn't enough. jason wooley led our team with 17 points we only had 13 turnovers this game vs 23 for them so that was a little better. we shot 39% that isn't good 2 for 10 from 3 point land they outrebounded out 54-42 they had 28 assists vs our 15 assists, we had 11 steals vs their 8 and our 6 blocks vs thier 2. |

nkempeni gets hurt in our first exhibition win
with only a rookie pg able to play i sign ime marshall 2.5/3.0 pg to a 1 year deal 7 ball handling and 6 passing he will be able to fill the void while our star rehabs. backup small forward antwaan evans also gets hurt but nathan bailey will come off the injured list to fill in for him he was a 2nd round pick that is 2/2 but was willing to take a league min contract and is a good outside shooter. Its only for a few days so its ok by me. |

I seem to find better role players in the free agent market than i do with my draft picks. I really need to do a better job with the draft. I shouldn't be this bad for this long. Maybe free agency is a better way to go. Maybe i should trade for guys i really like. My build thru the draft tactic has been a failure.
